I bought this little book years ago when Dan Hinkley did a speaking tour of Australia. Winter where I live (the Central Tablelands of NSW) isn't as cold & wet as Puget Sound but the climate isn't hugely different. I wanted my garden to have something of interest 12 months a year, so I've planted just about every winter flowering plant I can lay my hands on. 'Winter Ornamentals' gave me lots to aspire to.

About half of the book consists of plant portraits, grouped under bark, foliage, flowers & berries. At the back there are tables listing the important characteristics of all the plants in an easy to find format. There's an 8 page insert of colour photos but not every plant is illustrated.
