Hannah Ellis spent many years working in childcare before deciding she'd like to write books. When she's not busy writing she likes to read, drink tea and eat chocolate. She also enjoys yoga and jogging.
Took me quite a while to read this one as I wasn’t really into it, and I still really don’t like Emily, she isn’t growing on me at all. Hoping the next one has less of her in.
This series never fails to have me searching up cottages and houses near the seaside after finishing one of the books in it. The author really sells the whole idyllic setting and I can easily visualise myself stood near the sea with the breeze washing over me and the delightful sounds and smells that come with it.
We’re back with Emily, Lizzie and Josie and seeing how things are with them months after the previous novel. Lizzie is still juggling motherhood now with work and things aren’t getting any easier for her and Max. I know how hard having one young child can be never mind twins! Apart from Josie and Sam, for Emily and Lizzie the path to true love certainly doesn’t run smoothly.
It was great to meet previous characters in the book as well as new ones. I loved Scarlett, a sixteen year old girl who certainly keeps the adults on their toes and they all seem to be putty in her hands. Parts with her in never failed to rise a smile on my face. I also loved the thread for the idea for a new novel for Emily. I was truly wrapped up in what she discovers.
The House on Lavender Lane is such wonderful escapism. The place seems to draw people to it and they find it hard to leave. You fall as madly in love with Hope Cove as you do the characters. Of course the residents also help as they are so lovely. It feels like one happy and supportive community where everyone knows each other. As soon as I pick up a book in this series, I can not put it down until I’ve reached the end. The author pulls you in and doesn’t let go. Yet another gorgeous, heartfelt read!
Okay, I may have accidentally seen a spoiler or two for this one (not that I mind terribly! Of course, I'd rather go in completely blind, but I'm not a spoiler hater), but that's my fault for being a little too curious, and reading one too many reviews here and there...
I enjoyed this book. It took me a little longer than then previous ones, but I've been busy, and I loved going back to it in the evening to relax. Hope Cove has become my happy place. :) I really liked Scarlett; she just made me laugh, and I can't wait to see more of her!
There were some hair-pulling Emily moments yet again, but I've come to grown used to them, haha. At this point, they've become "ah, good ol' Emily!" moments. Onto the next one!
This review may be a bit biased, as Emily is my favorite character in the Hope Cove universe, and this book revolves around her and her stay in the town. I feel we got more descriptions of Hope Cove when looking through her writer-ly eyes. I also enjoyed the way that she and Josie became close again, and appreciated Lizzie's storyline in this one far more than I did in Book #4, where she came across as more whining. Here, she is a more sympathetic character, and you can see why she and Emily would establish a friendship outside of Emily's relationship with Lizzy's sister, Josie.
This book is again mainly about Emily who is my least favorite character because I am just not interested in reading about authors. I have purchased all the audiobooks in this series and this is where my enjoyment of the series became more difficult. Since I am only listening to the book rather than reading, having the same narrator to all male and female speaking parts got confusing as to who was saying what. Sometimes I thought it was a male character speaking when it was a female. This is the book where having a single narrator doing all the vocals detracted from the story.
This is the series that keeps on giving... Whatever you do, DON'T read this series out of sequence.
Just finished book 5 and I keep wondering how Hannah Ellis can keep this story going without introducing new characters, but OMG she can, and she has, and now I want more.
This woman knows how to make me happy. Oh this whole series would make a fantastic EPIC TV Show. I love love LOVE Hannah Ellis, sorry if that sounds crazy and stalkerish.
I'm off to start Book 6. See you again when I turn the last page. Happy Reading Folks.
I enjoyed the fifth book in this series. It’s nice to read about characters, they’re kinda old friends at this point. Technically I maybe should have given this book a four star rating. When you can predict the major plot twist that concludes the story...yep. More importantly, it was nice to read about family, friends, sorting out priorities, and living your best life...with your precious people. If you’re in the mood for that, read on.
I think I'm in love with the idea of that house and could see myself living there too. I still find Emily annoying, but I love the other characters in this series. Hannah Ellis always keeps me turning the pages. If you like clean romances and characters that you can believe are real, then Hannah is for you. I find her writing style like a breath of fresh air.
This book number 5 in hope cove series was really exciting. It was an amazing story that followed on really well from previous book. I couldn’t put it down I found myself trying to guess what would happen next & failing. The story is told so well with a few twists and turns. I’m now going to read book 6 and I can’t wait.
I really enjoy this series, but so far, this was my least favorite. I hate that the story has shifted so much from Lizzie and Josie’s lives to Emily’s. Emily is so damn whiny and ungrateful and just annoying. Jack is too sweet though. Definitely preferred him with Josie lol
I much would have preferred to hear about Josie’s story. Her miscarriages seemed so serious, but were barely Touched on.
I have really enjoyed the whole series of Hope Cove. There is always a few twists and turns to keep you entertained along the way and of course the feel good ending. Great escapism.
Like the rest of the Hope Cove books, it is well written, with great characters. My only dislike was that the main person is incredibly self obsessed, the other characters show more warmth and better traits, I found her annoying at times
A fifth fab offering from Hannah Ellis. I thoroughly enjoyed this return to Hope Cove, and another look at the lives of Lizzie, Emily and Josie. A real page turner. Recommended for fans of chick lit and contemporary women’s fiction - you’d need to read the other books first though. Five stars!
I thought the good streak was coming to an end with this series when disaster struck with the car accident but it all turned out right in the end 😅 I can’t remember the last time I read a series where all the books were equally as good!
Great book, I love how friendship and love has grown between the three couples and Jack and Emily have watched their dream of living in Harbor Cove unfold, looking forward to the wedding and birth of Josie’s baby.
I whizzed through this book it was hard to put down. It's the third in the series and I really enjoy getting to know each of the characters or couples more. Some characters were easy to connect with (Lizzie) , would definitely recommend. On to the next...
Love this series and how all the characters are in every book. Not too far from real life as they have all found the loves of their lives but not without roadblocks among the happiness.
Cute read with a bit more serious drama and events than the previous books but it was a page turner! I’m liking having all the characters in one book now that they’re established. It’s so fun to see how their lives intertwine in their small community
