Trace literally runs into Colt on campus when he has decided to celebrate scoring an A- on a paper. From the moment Colt touches him, Trace is entranced by the older man. They do the required “first date” activity, meeting at a bar for a drink, and quickly decide to return to Colt’s house to continue the date with food and fun. There Trace learns that Colt is looking for a different kind of relationship. He is taken by surprise when amidst their teasing foreplay Colt smacks his ass, but the more Colt strikes the more turned on Trace becomes. His body takes over, reacting to something that his mind doesn’t fully understand.

From that first encounter, Trace struggles with a relationship that isn’t what he would label as “normal.” He knows that he is attracted to Colt, that what they do together elicits strong physical reactions, but he has difficulty putting himself into such an unexpected role. Colt tries to be patient, hoping that Trace will be able to accept what he can give the young man, as his own feelings have grown quicker than he would have ever imagined possible. He thrives on the level on control that the spankings command, as well as seeing and feeling the evidence of his markings on Traces’ skin. He wants to help Trace to see that there is nothing wrong with what they do together, as long as they are both willing partners and that it makes them feel good. He fights to help Trace accept what he knows the man so strongly needs.

This is a story of a non-traditional relationship that is based on trust and love. The majority of this story focuses on the physical interactions between Colt and Trace but there is also some insight into their emotional responses. In order to fully commit to a relationship with Colt, there is so much that Trace must learn and accept about himself and I was hoping for a bit more focus on this emotional journey. The physical scenes between the two men are erotic and arousing, and they build in intensity throughout the story. It is intriguing to watch the path that Trace takes, the decisions he makes at each crossroads, as he learns more about himself and what Colt is able to give him. Overall this is an enjoyable story about a relationship based in a facet of BDSM and two men hoping to find what they desire with each other.

Trace is a young college student. He is a very normal guy, open, pretty and happy. He likes to play and when he meets Colt, he is more than ready to play with him: but the concept of play for Trace is rather simple, a beer, a flirt, a night of joyful sex. Nothing more, nothing less. Instead Colt has other ideas.

Colt is a bit of a mystery. He is a gardener, but he is not only that; he is an ex professor, and now he seems to be happy with a more relaxing work. He seems to not have money problems, he lives alone in a comfortable little apartment. And he likes to play like Trace, but his type of games are a little more kinky: spanking, toys, nothing of extreme, but sure a bit more of what Trace would expect. And so after that first night, even if Trace enjoyed a lot all they did, he flies away, a bit scared. Only to return a second time, to prove to himself that he really likes what Colt did to him.

But Colt is a very commanding man, he is a total top and he is also older than Trace: for a kid like Trace this could be a little overwhelming, and it's not simple for him to let go and give up the control to Colt. Only when he can really trust Colt to not doing anything he doesn't want, only then they could consider to have a real relationship, and not only a night of sex here and there.

This is the classical daddy and baby relationship: Colt has not half measure, he is the master of the relationship, he can't even consider to leave some control on Trace; on the other hand, he is very good in pampering and taking care of the kid, and so, if Trace is good with that, they can have a very happy relationship together.

There is a lot of sex, actually Colt and Trace can't be together for a time without having sex. And probably this is the reason why Trace is so scared at first: he was searching for a rest and relax relationship and he found a way much committed one, a relationship that asks him to question his beliefs and his own desires... maybe too much for a young and careless guy, maybe Colt is asking Trace to grew too much and too soon.

Such a sweet and sexy short story. A confident older man with a pretty self assured younger man just finding himself on the kinky spectrum.
