In this stunning and inspiring guide, Kate Rew, founder of the Outdoor Swimming Society, takes you on a wild journey across Britain, braving the elements to experience first-hand some of the most awe-inspiring corners of the landscape. From waterfalls and natural jacuzzis to sea caves and meandering rivers—every swim is described in loving detail, taking in the humor and glee of each mini-adventure and the breathtaking beauty of the surroundings as well as practical details about location and advice on swimming technique. With over 300 swim spots, it contains something to suit every kind of swimmer, from a five-year-old in water-wings to a seasoned cold-water connoisseur, or a rough and ready camper to a lazy-hazy summer picnicker. Beautifully photographed by Dominick Tyler, and with a fully comprehensive map, Wild Swim is the definitive guide to outdoor swimming in Britain from the Outer Hebrides to the Isles of Scilly and everywhere in between.
Well laid out book with lots of lovely stories of different swims from sea swimming, rivers, lidos etc. Very informative - I’m looking forward to my Dorset swims next month. 🏊
Makes you want to get out there and plunge in .... Comprehensive and inspiring suggestions for places to swim outdoors in the U.K. Would have preferred many more photos of the locations to accompany the text. Would prefer photos which clearly show the lido, the lake or the river and not just an 'arty' shot of a pebble, a pool tile or a sign.
Inspiring, full of enthusiasm for cold fresh water, and takes the fear away. Maybe the Wild Swim joys are a little easier to realise when you live in Devon, but it's definitely a motivator for anyone to read Kate Rew's joy of jumping into Fairy Pools on Skye. In Scotland.
Love that this was not only just a guide to various wild swim locations, but also gave a personal description that painted a wonderful picture of the various locations. Even if I don't swim at all these places, still provided useful info on some wonderful places.
Love this idea and have resolved to try some of the suggested locations. Started with another book's suggestion ('Soldier's Leap' below Killiecrankie) but will come back to this one time and again.
