Rate this book
After overhearing two crooked Chicago cops plotting against her, Avery Pierce goes on the run, not knowing who she can trust. When her low finances force her to take a job as a sex phone operator, she struggles, so when a caller senses her desperation and inexperience and offers assistance, she's tempted to agree. As soon as Sheriff Grayson Monroe meets the new waitress at his favorite diner, something about her strikes a familiar chord. When he sees her enter the Barn, his lifestyle club, the desire to get to the bottom of her evasive eyes and answers to his probing questions takes hold. He's determined to find out who she really is and what is troubling her. After an icy mishap, Master Grayson has finally run out of patience. One way or another, Avery will tell him the truth. But is it too late? Has danger already found her? Can Grayson come to her rescue or will she lose everything she has just gained?

I live in the Midwest with my husband and two dogs, enjoy spending time with my daughter, babysitting her two dogs, reading and working puzzles. We have traveled extensively, but I much prefer being a homebody.

I began writing erotic novels with an emphasis on erotic spanking five years ago never dreaming that I would get published. I just celebrated the release of my eleventh title and am very thankful to my publisher, Pink Flamingo, for taking a chance on me and giving me the opportunity to enjoy a fun career. While my earlier books lean more towards straight erotica that will appeal to only a very select audience, my last five books are erotic romances. I enjoy hearing all comments from readers. I've read almost the whole series last year and somehow failed to notice how similar all the premises were: desperate women on the run or hiding from abusers, found their way into this little Montana town where men are dominating, yet caring - and of course very (very!) hot. Plus they all seem to be adamant about using hot sex for pushing the heroines into spilling their fears and secrets, heh.

This story wasn't different and the ending felt rushed, yet I liked the characters most - so it was definitely the best one in the series.

I admit, the author writes great chemistry, so if you want to turn off your brain and just enjoy some steam, this one is a good choice. (And better skip the first book.)

Adorkable tech whiz Avery overhears two corrupt cops planning on making her their fall guy, and runs out of town. Not knowing who to trust, she lets a phone call with Grayson (and his offer to help her if she was in trouble) lead her to Montana. However, with law enforcement already against her, how can she know who to trust?

So, at several points in this novel, Grayson is a heavy-handed jerk. That seems to be par for the course in a lot of BDSM-themed novels (and to a lesser extent, in romantic suspense in general), so I'm kind of letting it go. Otherwise, I liked the characters and their relationship. The novel had a good balance between the romance part of the plot and the suspense part. It's definitely not perfect, but this is a good book.

This book started out as a 4 for me, but by the end, Grayson was just rubbing me the wrong way. His use of punishment when his ego was hurt was wrong. At least that's how it came off to me. He kept getting upset with Avery for not confiding in him, yet they didn't have any sort of D/s agreement that required that level of trust and respect. I would expect a 'Master' to sit down and talk with his sub about a formal agreement if he wanted her to give him that trust outside of the club. Even if it wasn't a formal agreement, he could have let her know that he wanted to give things a go and not be with anyone else. Again, that never happened, so to an outsider, it all looked very casual without a claim made. Because of that, it made Grayson's anger and power over Avery seem unwarranted since she owed him nothing in reality. I also hated that the author subjected us to a scene with Grayson and another woman in the beginning of the book. It really wasn't necessary.

I really liked Avery. She wasn't the clueless heroine that Sydney was. Avery was very smart and even though she had her 'you should have listened' moments, she still had good instincts that ended up saving her life. The one thing that bugged me was her lack of a cell phone the entire book (set over 6 weeks). I get she didn't want to use hers out of fear of it being traced. I even get that she was flat broke in the beginning and couldn't afford one. But that wasn't the case after the first week. So to be riding around knowing good and well you were in danger and lacking the phone to call for help was utterly stupid. Why didn't Grayson ever get her one if he was so caught up on her safety? Made no sense.

The ending was predictable. I decided that was how it would end way back when we first met that player. Happy to learn I was right since I thought it was a wonderful way to end things (even if it was quick and relatively painless). I wish we had gotten more of a look ahead into their daily lives though.

One thing I hate about this author's writing style is the use of antiquated and textbook formal words to describe the intimate scenes and parts. It's as if this is taking place centuries ago instead of in modern times. In my opinion, you can't write a BDSM book with this level of debauchery and have such PG terms. It's a big turn off. This book seemed to up the use of those words x10 versus book 1 and it's making me not want to continue reading the rest of the series.

Submitting to the Sheriff is the second book in the Cowboy Doms series, but can be read as a stand alone. Avery is on the run from her ex and headed towards Willow Springs, all because of a nice man on a phone call. She’s shocked to find out that man is none other than Sheriff Grayson, and now doesn’t know if she can trust him or his friends. But their connection can’t be denied and as they draw closer together with BDSM, Avery slowly starts to trust. When Grayson catches on to her lies, can he continue their relationship and keep her safe from her past?

Ohhh this book was so engaging, so exciting, and I absolutely loved Avery and Grayson. They definitely had an interesting start to their relationship, but I loved that they slowly grew trust and formed a strong bond before fully going all the way together and in the club. Avery was silently strong, and while she thought herself shy and a coward, she had a full heart and cared for those around her. Grayson was a natural protector, very curious, extremely dominant, and I loved the patience he had for Avery and her secrets. He just wanted her trust and she had to let go enough to believe in him. I loved being back in this town with some familiar faces, but I really loved the drama with Avery’s past, I loved the push and pull between Avery and Grayson, and I loved their connection! I did not want to stop reading this book and am already looking forward to the next book from Ms. Wane!

This is the second book in this series and I think I like it better than the first. Avery is on the run from her ex and his friend. Trying to be a phone sex operator didn't exactly work, except for one call that was misdialed. THe voice was something that she couldn't forget and when the caller gives her his name and where he lives, her decision is made.
Grayson is the sheriff in town and enjoys going to the local BDSM club. Problem is he can't see to get a certain woman out of his mind. When their paths cross, she knows him but he doesn't know her. What follows is a wonderful story of Grayson introducing Avery to the delights of BDSM. But her past is still following her and due to a jealous woman wanting Grayson to herself, is about to catch up with her. What happens? Can Grayson save her? Well, you need to get the book to find out. I love the flow of this story and it's very easy to fall for the male characters, all of them. LOL Now to wait for Connor's book.

THE DOM SHERIFF AND THE NERDY GIRL

What a great addition to a new series, Cowboy Doms. There are several authors that as soon as I see a new book by them, I can’t wait to read, and Ms. BJ Wane is one of those authors. She has a way of spinning a tale, with a great cast of characters, and wonderful dialog and interaction. Her women are strong, feisty, and her men are dominant alphas, making for a perfect combination.

The plot will start in Chicago with Avery Pierce overhearing a conversation between her boyfriend and his partner, both with Chicago PD—and it involves stealing evidence, drugs, and selling them—but also a concern about what she might know and needing to eliminate her. Grabbing a few items, her money, she will take off for the west and picking up odd jobs to survive, including a sex talk line where she will have one caller who offers her help—and a message.

“Look, if you’re ever near Willow Springs, Montana, stop and ask for Grayson Monroe. I might be able to help you.”

That will be the message that will have Avery on the move, picking up waitressing and odd jobs to pay for gas and get her to Montana. She arrives, gets a room at the motel, and finds her a job as a waitress at the diner in town. It doesn’t take long for Avery to meet Grayson, but she doesn’t tell him who she is—and what a shock to discover he is the sheriff.

The story is a mystery, suspense, with danger, and secrets. Avery makes friends with several ladies in town and is even invited to visit The Barn, a BDSM club. Her visit will be an initiation into a whole new world of sex, dominance, and submission. When Grayson has her on his radar, she feels like she is between a rock and a hard place. She wants to believe him, trusts him, but she has to be sure—when he learns more about her, he won’t be happy at her omission.

I love the chemistry between Grayson and Avery, his dominance and her innocence work well, but he knows she is keeping secrets. When her secrets come to light will he turn her away? Will she be back on the run again? The story includes exhibition, voyeurism, dominance, submission, dubious consent and is full of erotic scenes both in and outside of The Barn.

Trouble is coming, and the story will take on a life and death situation. It will also have some surprises. I can’t wait for more stories in this series.

Submitting to the Sheriff is the 2nd book in the Cowboy Doms series by B.J. Wane.
Avery is on the run from her policeman ex boyfriend from Chicago where she was a computer geek in the department ; her ex worked there as well. Due to finding out that her ex is all fifty ways bad, she's on the run for her life. She heads to Montana where she ends up meeting Grayson, the local sheriff. She once spoke to him on the phone which left her with many kinds of warm and fuzzy feels about him. The story is full of drama, heat, action, twists, turns, passion and romance. I liked the pace and flow of the story. Avery and Grayson have this immediate connection, this chemistry that comes across the pages of the story. The BDSM element is well written and seemly- not outrageous or unbelievable. I look forward to book 3 next.

Avery is a computer nerd working for the Chicago police department when she discovers her policeman boyfriend is crooked, and may harm her. She runs to Montana where she meets Grayson, the local sheriff – and someone she had once spoken to on the telephone. An affair develops – with plenty of spankings as Grayson is a Dom – and it is interesting, although a bit rushed at the end, as to how the story works itself out. Both Grayson and Avery are well described and highly intelligent characters – however, I thought the book would have been strengthened with a little more development in the conclusion of the problems.

This it the second book in the Cowboy Doms series and can be read as a stand-alone. Avery is in trouble and doesn’t know who to trust. Grayson knows something is up with Avery, will he get to the bottom of it before danger heads their way? Fast-paced read with plenty of drama and suspense. The characters have great chemistry and the story is steamy. A good addition to this series.

Gotta Love A Sheriff

Hmmm, Master Grayson is rather yummy and Avery is just a geeky sweetheart. They make an exceptional couple stumbling along on a captivating storyline. Plenty of heat to go at.

Submitting to the Sheriff is an exciting story filled with mystery, crime, BDSM, love, friendships, and so much more!! The story includes previous characters but they do not play a large part of the overall storyline. Avery needs someone special to help, love, and protect her and Grayson is just the man. However, make no mistake, he will love her dearly but guide her when needed, even if that is over his knee for a well deserved spanking given with love. Grayson's love for Avery has a chemistry that makes the reader want to jump into the story and experience his love and dominance first hand! Overall, this story includes power exchange, spankings, steamy sex scenes, danger, mystery, suspense, phone sex, and so much more to enjoy!! I highly recommend this story for an exciting page turning read. I give this book a big 5 stars. I voluntarily received an arc copy of this book.

The characters have no personality

This author seems to think that all her heroines have to have some kind of needy or damaged background so that they are immediately drawn to the idea of domination by men. What does that say about her heroes I wonder?
Once again there is no emotion shown between the two main characters. Only one thing draws them together, so how they can say they are in love beats me!
The actions are so repetitious in her books that they are becoming quite boring now.

I am voluntarily writing this review for this book I received through Booksprouts arc.

Avery was down in the luck and here she was working for phone sex company. Avery once worked at the police department when she was dating one of the detectives. Darren and his partner was doing some unsavory things and she found out about it. She hears Darren tells his partner he is sleeping with her to keep her from investigating them. She knew she had to get out of town that is why she ran plus hacking into the departments computer. Where she found out more of what had been going on. That is why she started to run was really new to this because she only had sex with one man who told her she was nothing. She didn’t have experience so when she gets her next call she needed to keep in on the line. Grayson called the line and just happen to get Avery. The next Grayson asked if anything was wrong and she told him no problem.. Grayson wanted to help her out by telling her what to say by making her do things when he told her. He could not believe that he got a phone virgin when he called. His Dom was intrigued by Avery especially since she followed his instructions. He also told her if she was ever in Willow Springs Montana to look him up. At this point she thought she would take him up on going there what could it hurt. Avery gets in to Willow Springs where she wound up working at a the diner. She gets to meet Grayson when he comes into the diner with his friends. Her boss told her to move in the apartment upstairs from work instead of staying at the motel. On the way back to the motel Grayson saw her walking so he stopped and told her he would drive her to the motel. Grayson all this time feels like he knows that voice but he couldn’t remember where he heard it. Avery and Sydney got to know each other and Sydney asked her to come to the club. Avery was looking around and she sees Grayson upstairs swinging his cane. Sydney took her around and introduced her to a lot of the people. Sydney told Avery that she would take her on the tour. But, Grayson stepped up and told Sydney he would take her around. Grayson was sure that there was something Avery was hiding he would just have to wait until the time was right. Avery now had been at the club a couple of times. Also, the word got out that Avery was a computer wizard and people started to ask her for help. Cassie a sub at the club who had a thing for Grayson kept giving Avery the stink eye even if Avery did not see her and vowed revenge on Avery. Meanwhile her ex boyfriend Darren was talking to his partner about Avery’s whereabouts no one knew where she had gone. Avery decided that she was going to tell Grayson about where she knew him from and what was going on after the club. Grayson while at the club realizes that Avery was the same woman on the phone. He got somewhat angry and ended their scene and left her wanting. He took Avery home without saying a word he couldn’t understand why she wouldn’t have told him after they met a the diner the first day. He also knew that she was hiding something else that kept her from trusting him. Darren and his partner new they had to find Avery and take care of her before she talked to anyone. Darren and Chad had come to Willow Springs in search of Avery they found out that she had used the library’s computer. When they get into town they decided to eat something and show the picture of Avery around until he met Cassie the nasty sub from the club. Cassie who put a little doubt about her time with Grayson but, Avery gave as good as Cassie by not letting her know she had rattled her. Grayson knew something was up when he saw Cassie after the confrontation and Avery being a little upset. Chad happen to see Avery in her car as she drove and bumped her car and set it spinning out of control and into two trees. When Chad went to see if she dead he hears the growling and turns around to see the wolf baring down on him and biting into his arm. As Avery was trying to get of her car she spots Grayson standing over Chad whom he immediately handcuffed him when he saw the gun. Darren was still around so Grayson had some of his men find and bring them to the station. Grayson found out that Cassie inadvertently gave the men information to track her down out of jealousy. Cassie was barred from the club for all of her nonsense. Twists, turns and attempted murder makes this an exciting and hot read.

This is book 2 in the new series by BJ Wane whose books are always very entertaining. Avery Pearce is an IT tech working for the police department in Chicago. She overhears her boyfriend and his partner plotting to dispose of her if she should discover that they have been stealing evidence for personal gain, ie drugs, and weapons etc (of course she is already suspicious). Not knowing who to trust she runs away, purchasing an old cheap car and travelling from place to place doing casual jobs for cash so that she can stay off the grid. One night Avery tries to become a sex phone operator and she receives a call from a man with an incredibly sexy voice who has dialled the wrong number. However she sounds so sad and desperate having no actual experience of phone sex or much of any other sex for that a matter the caller who is Sheriff Grayson Monroe of Willow Springs and a Dom at the local BDSM Club the Barn (Book 1 Submitting to the Rancher), is very kind and spends 2 hours talking her into her first ever orgasm. He tells her if she ever needs any help she should visit Willow Springs where he lives. A few weeks later Avery is very low and because she cannot forget one incredible telephone conversation she decides to make for Willow Springs. When she arrives she discovers that her sexy telephone hero is no other than the City Sheriff so she decides to keep quiet about how they met and wait for a while until she feels more secure asking for help. Of course, Grayson recognises her but cannot understand from where or when, but she does seems familiar somehow. The two of them have great chemistry and Grayson introduces her to the lifestyle. There are lots of twists and turns until the final HEA and this was a great quick read. Although it is the second in a series it is quite standalone but if you want a fun hot read I can definitely recommend these books.

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the second book in the Cowboy Doms series. In this book, Grayson is the sheriff and is partners with his two best friends in The Barn, a BDSM club. Grayson is a dom and he has no interest in having his own sub, he would prefer to play with the subs at the club. One night while Grayson was making a phone call, he dialed the wrong number and got a phone sex worker. Avery was running from her ex-boyfriend and his partner, who were Chicago cops and were dirty. Avery had the evidence and was running to try and get somewhere safe until she could turn them in. Avery was really bad at the phone sex job and she begged Grayson to help her. Grayson loved how submissive the mystery woman on the phone was and he talked her into submitting to him. Grayson suspected she was in trouble and told her to look him up if she wanted help. Avery headed to see Grayson to she if she could trust him and get help. When Avery showed up in town, she managed to get a job at the local diner. When Grayson came into the diner, she met him and there was an instant attraction. Grayson felt he knew Avery, but couldn't remember meeting her. When Avery came to the club as a guest, Grayson wanted to show her around the club. Avery allowed Grayson to show her around the club and introduce her to the lifestyle. Grayson was becoming attached to Avery, but knew she had secrets and wanted her to tell him everything. I really loved this book. I loved Grayson, i thought he was a great guy who really wanted to protect Avery. I think Grayson accepted Avery was his from the beginning and loved her. Avery knew she could trust Grayson, but she was scared about what would happen after she told him the truth. I loved this book and can't wait for the next one.

A mis dialled number, a frightened woman’s voice remained with him but why?
Grayson had known instantly that the woman on the phone was in trouble, that she was running from something or some one and as he had talked with the young woman his final words had been, should you ever reach Willow Springs Montana ask for Grayson Monroe.
On the run from two dirty cops that she’d heard plot her demise if she had discovered the truth about the tampered evidence all she had known was that she had to run! Run! RUN. She had remembered the man’s voice and the manner in which he had tried to help her even though he knew nothing about her, she had decided to make her way to Willow Springs where Darren and his sidekick hopefully would not find her.
Finding wok at the diner she had started to integrate with a few of the locals who all welcomed her with open arms and kindness, she also had met Sheriff Grayson Monroe and was deciding whether he was a man that she could trust with her findings, would he help her bring two dirty cops to justice? Would he be able to keep her safe? Once they knew where she was her life would be worth nothing and she was right!!!
This was a great addition to this wonderful series the male characters were dominant in every sense of the world however the women in their lives were clever, kind and loving and when they needed too, they could kick ass….
I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.

~Better to stick with her day job…~

—>>> Willow Springs, Montana is where Avery, ex-IT tech for the Chicago Police Department, ends up as a last resort, following an invitation from an unintended client over the phone during her very short and embarrassing stint as a phone sex operator. She runs into Sheriff Grayson Monroe’ just after settling into town, only he does not recognize her from the phone call just then. Slowly, the local residents draw her in one by one, first finding work as a waitress and then helping out people with their computers as word of her skills spread. Grayson remains suspicious that she has secrets and was determined not going to give in to furthering their fledgling Dom/Sub relationship until she comes clean, even though he cannot seem to stay away from her. But by then, it may be too late, as her secrets from Chicago will catch up to her sooner or later.

Grayson is fairly black and white with what is acceptable in his life, and has a caring heart, but something in Avery ticks every one of his boxes. Avery’s ex experience had placed even more doubts into her head about herself with her already low self-esteem, but surrounding herself with new friends and their solid support does wonder for her, and it all works out for their HEA. Great read and I look forward to reading Connor’s story as well as his brother’s, which I had missed out on.

Altho I love the stories from this author, the price is really high...there are only 200 pages for $5, the story line is great and I am glad the Sheriff gets his HEA but it honestly isn't worth the $5 price tag.
Avery is on the run from 2 crooked cops and ends up in Willow Springs, she is accepted into the fold within the small town quickly and catches the Sheriff's eye....It isn't until towards the end that the entire story unfolds for the Sheriff and he understands but there is a time where he is angry by her lack of trust.. Gee she is on the run from two crooked COPS and has to decide if the sheriff is trustworthly .......he finally understands and things work out to a HEA. So other than Cassie being kicked out of the club what else happened... is she still there to make trouble??? What happened with the cattle rustlers? that was left hanging.. will it be carried over to the next book?

Normally I wouldn't pay the $5 but I fell in love with the sheriff in book 1 and wanted to read his story. I won't pay the $5 for Conner or other character's books unless they are more reasonably priced...Most of her books are KU which suits my budget but $3 would be a reasonable price...if the pages go up to 300-500 pages then $5 would be reasonable. I understand the author has to make money but....

Avery had to fun for her life, literally, because she had overheard her ex and his partner with the Chicago PD talking about making it look like an accident if she continued to dig into the files showing the evidence on their cases not matching the statements that were given. Going cross-country, taking odd jobs that would pay cash seemed to get her day to day but not very far away. When she winds up taking a job as a sex phone operator, she knows she's in over her head when she stammers and stutters so much she's continually hung up on. Fate seemed to be looking out for her the night Sheriff Grayson Monroe dialed a wrong number and she answered. Intending to hang up after apologizing for the inconvenience, Avery begs him to stay on the line and just talk to her. She just needs the calls to last and doesn't know how to do that. That’s when Grayson takes things in hand and ultimately talks her through her first orgasm. Without knowing exactly why she's taken a job she has no idea how to do, he tells her if she's ever in Willow Springs, MT to look him up. But can she trust him to help her? There are a few moments in this storyline where I've chuckled at Avery's naivety which really, just made her all the more approachable. The story was great, the scenes were HOT as blue blazes, and I just love the characters. This was a great read.

I loved pretty much everything about Avery. From her clumsiness to her techie, nerd-girl awkwardness, she was a character I could connect with. She has moments that border on ‘too stupid to live’, but when running for one’s life I can understand there will be times when instinct will overrule caution and common sense. In the previous book, Grayson was one of my favorite characters, and I was really enjoying this book until it felt like he started taking his hurt pride out on Avery. Trust can’t be commanded, it’s earned; and Avery has a very legitimate reason for distrusting law enforcement officials. Besides, the delay in his learning her truth was his own fault for getting his nose out of joint and pushing her away just as she was about to open up to him. Again, we have BDSM as an interrogation technique, but this time I wasn’t just squicky, I was flat out angered. That anger pretty much soured all the enjoyment I’d been having. I also found the ending unsatisfying. All of the threads of their different problems; the crooked cops, the jealous sub, their unspoken feelings for one another; are all wrapped up in a couple of sentences each. The issue with the cattle rustlers is just left hanging, so I’m assuming it will be concluded in Connor’s book next. I was just hoping for more.
I received a complimentary copy of this through Booksprout as part of the box set.

This is the second book in the Cowboy Dom series and while I am sure you can read this out of order why would you want to? Each book does build off the other as far as characters. In this book, we find that Avery Pierce a computer nerd in Chicago is in hiding, and because she discovers her boyfriend, well ex-boyfriend and his Chicago cop partner are bent (crooked) as the day is long. When she discovered this fact she gathered some evidence and high-tailed it out of dodge. But now she is having to work in jobs she is not qualified for because she is working "under the table". Sheriff Grayson misdials a number and gets Avery as she is working phone sex one night. He talks to her for a long time and realizes she is in some kind of trouble and tells her his name and where he is located. To come to find him if she need help. Little does he know she will show up but not show herself to him for a while.
Sheriff Grayson is a strong authority Dom and some folks might not agree with how he handles his affairs but for others, it is a turn-on. As for a BDSM no it is not strictly how it should be handled consent-wise. This book kept my attention from start to end. This series is one that has me reading one book and grabbing the next one right away. There is just something about Cowboy Doms!

Submitting to the sheriff (cowboy doms book 2)

I really loved Avery and Grayson’s story! Avery is an IT specialist from Chicago who also used to work for the Chicago Police Department as the person who would login evidence Items into evidence. She thought she had found love with one of the officers in the Police department turns out he was just using her to cover up that he and he partner were stealing stuff from evidence. When he suspects that she knows his secret she goes on the run to hide from him and his partner. Along the way while on the run she takes a job being a sex phone operator and is not very good at it. That is how she met Grayson. Grayson had to told her that if she needed anything to come find him in willow springs Montana. She decided sometime later that she was going to go to willow springs and try to find him. When she gets to willow springs and discovers that it a small town where everyone know each other she is a little wary but still takes up a job at the small town diner there. When Avery first lays eyes on Grayson the first time and finds out he is the sheriff of the small town she kinda freaks out about it considering her situation. This book is really awesome and I definitely recommend this book!

One thing I liked about Avery is that after she heard her "boyfriend" talking to the other cop, she got outta Dodge. In many books, the h would confront the person after hearing their secret. Avery had a strong sense of self preservation.

I also liked that Grayson was not totally clueless about Cassie. I think he underestimated the lengths under which she was willing to go, but he recognized the obsession.

I can understand why Avery didn't immediately tell Grayson who she was after she found out he was the sheriff. With corrupt cops in the mix, she couldn't be too careful.

I liked the characters and the way they all embraced Avery. I thought Grayson and Avery had great chemistry and a good connection. I was surprised that she embraced the D/s situation and lifestyle as readily as she did. She had moments of hesitation which made the situation a bit more realistic. After all, who walks into an atmosphere they had never before experienced (especially someone who couldn't handle phone sex), and not bad an eye?

A small town, sweet, sexy romance with a touch of BDSM, mystery, and suspense.

I thought this was a good continuation of the series.

Submitting to the Sheriff is a solid second entry in the Cowboy Doms series. Avery is an IT Clerk who worked for the Chicago P.D. While there, she is showered with attention from one of the detectives and he becomes her boyfriend. Then her world is turned upside down when she hears something she shouldn't and her life is suddenly in real danger. Quickly leaving town, she takes odd jobs. During one of those jobs, a voice on the other end of the phone touches her in ways she can't forget. With nowhere else to go and no one else to trust, she heads halfway across the country in search of that voice's owner. She finds herself in Willow Springs where book one in the series was also set. She finds the owner of the voice she wanted to find and their brief connection quickly blossoms in person. She needs to trust, he needs to protect, and they both need to keep her alive. We meet back up with the characters from book one and spend time in the local BDSM club, The Barn. The book is fast past, explicit, and a fun read.

Love this series, I'd move to a small town like this! Grayson is the sheriff in Willow Springs and of course one of the regular doms at the club known as The Barn. Avery is new to town but seems familiar to the dom sheriff. Avery is on the run after being betrayed and set up by the man she thought loved her. She met the sheriff anonymously and impetuously decides to seek him out in person to see if he can help her. As they dance around each other, Grayson tutors her in the world of doms and subs where Avery experiences sexual bliss she's never known before. When he finally learns her secrets, he's mad she didn't trust him sooner but vows to protect her. Her past catches up to her, thanks in part to a catty sub jealous of Grayson's attention to Avery, and he realizes he doesn't just want to be her dom but loves her. Fortunately Grayson saves the day - with an assist from his dog Lobo - and they get their HEA.

As should be obvious from the title, this book is about BDSM and contains explicit sex scenes. Heat level 5 so stay away if that's not your thing.

I loved this taut, intense love story!

Avery is on the run from her Chicago cop ex-boyfriend, and she's taking refuge in a small Montana town after a chance phone call put her on Sheriff Grayson's radar. She's running as much from her emotions as from the danger, trying to find the inner strength to start again and the confidence to believe in herself. Grayson knows she's keeping secrets, but he can't figure out why she won't trust him or, at least, his position in law enforcement to keep her safe.

This was a superbly-written suspense story, focusing more on Avery's changing life than on the tangled mess she's running from. In Grayson, she finds acceptance and respect, and in the town she finds a purpose as well as a collection of sincere friends. The nuanced approach to her developing self-esteem was beautifully done. This is the second standalone romance set in this wonderful community, and I hope there will be more to come. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

I enjoyed this second book in the series Cowboy Doms. You do not need to read the first book to enjoy this one, but it does help. Avery is an IT tech at a Chicago Police Department and she comes into information about two of the detectives stealing evidence (money, drugs, etc) When she realizes that they are willing to kill her to keep her quiet, she flees. She tries being a phone sex operator, but she has no experience with sex. Grayson calls the phone line by accident and he ends up giving her pointers. He then invites her to his town if she ever needs help. And, of course, she does. What she doesn’t know is that Grayson is a dom and he wants her. She shows up in Willow Springs, Montana and the story starts. There is an eventual HEA and it is a fun ride there.
I enjoyed this second story in the series and I look forward to more books in the series. I give this an enthusiastic 5 stars!

Submitting to the Sheriff is the second book in the superbly talented BJ Wane’s Cowboy Doms series. If you love your men alpha and heroic and your women independent with a slight touch of brat, you won’t be disappointed here.BJ had definitely settled in to this genre quite nicely.
Avery Pierce is on the run, and to try to get money to fund her flight, she tries on being a phone sex operator, but she’s failing miserably at it. Until she gets a cal from a man who is willing to give her a few pointers. He thoroughly takes control, then tells her if she’s ever in Willow Springs. Montana, to look up Grayson Monroe.
After being on the run for a while, Avery lands in Willow Springs. She meets the handsome sheriff. But can she tell him everything? Or will her past catch up to her without the hot dominant sheriff’s protection?
This is one to add to your keeper files as your’e sure to want to read it again and again.

Lobo

This is the best book... from the phone sex teaching Dom, to the Club owning Master, to the Sheriff... I titled the review Lobo because the wolf saves the IT whiz from the dirty cop, and Lobo was the name of my dog too... the story is only missing one thing... what about those cattle rustlers? Guess it might get sorted in the next book... I really am enjoying this series and this author isn't afraid to draw in multiple play partners for some scenes which seems more Natural than some of the "fall in love never interact as a Dom with others" way some other stories are... I like the way BJ Wane sorts it. I do sometimes wish the characters would come together anonymously like a Dom and a new Sub or an Experienced Submissive but new to the club... you know play before really liking each other. Might work with a New Dom at the club with an unattached Submissive. Just a different idea... but I love this series.
