We have several of these first readers about the Littles, a family of small people with mouse-like tails. My kids loved these as read-alouds and also for reading on their own.

An imaginative story about a family of little people with tails who live in the wall of a large house with regular people who are unaware of their presence. It is a story I read as a kid and didn't forget because I could imagine being that small. What a fun existence!

Aunt Lily has disappeared and the Little family cannot find her. At the time, Mrs. Little, is expecting a baby and desperately needs Aunt Lily. Hildy the cat, is their only hop in finding Aunt Lily. The cat takes the family out into the snow with the Little's on his back to find Aunt Lily just in time for the baby's birth.
