Pastor Hannah Grayson holds the distinction of being the first female pastor to lead the congregation at Greater St. Luke Fellowship in Atlanta Georgia. Overcoming a child hood in the projects and growing up in foster care she attended college at Fort Valley State College, and received her master's in theology from Gammon Theological Seminary.During her tenure as pastor, Greater St. Luke's congregation has grown in leaps and bounds with over 100 new members in three years. They've started a summer camp for low income teens, a food and clothing bank for the underprivileged, a young adult choir, and senior ladies dance ministry. Due to the growth, the church board hired an associate pastor, a youth pastor, and a full security team. She's been approached by a television station to broadcast her sermons to millions across the internet. As an unmarried female pastor she's faced and overcome many challenges and she knows that it will take God's hand to guide her through her latest one...Through no fault of her own, Hannah is three months pregnant.
Zaria Garrison was born and raised in Greenville County, SC. She began writing as a teen-ager. In 2005 her first novel Baring it All was published by Publish America under her birth name Gena L. Garrison. However as she continued writing she felt she could no longer write stories that involved explicit sex and violence. She could only write what God told her to write. God gave her stories of everyday people who have faults, struggles, and sometimes pain but they continue to trust in God to get them through. With God’s guidance a new author was born. Following her transformation as he did with Saul, God gave her a new name Zaria, which means new beginnings. Zaria is also part owner and staff writer for EKG Literary magazine. An online magazine dedicated to being the pulse of the literary community. It can be read online at www.ekgliterarymag.com
This is my first time reading a book by this author. I must say it really held my attention from the very beginning until the end. The characters were well developed and I can imagine and feel their emotions and places they went. I felt like I was on a emotional rollercoaster of happiness, love, anger, sadness, joy and having a sister bond that cannot be broken. There were several lessons to learn from this storyline of God taking a bad situation and turning it around for the good, you have to take self care and not try to be the fixer for everyone else, people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones and there are plenty of wolves in sheep clothing. I really enjoyed this book and looking forward to reading more books by her. I highly recommend this book to read.
This book dealt with a lot of relevant issues and the author did a great job of bringing it all together in the second half. I must admit I had a hard time getting through the first half, but I really wanted to know Hannah's fate. The writing style was a little cumbersome for me, even though it was necessary to give the backstory on the characters. As the drama unfolded, it got easier to read than the build up. I really wasn't sure how I would rate this until the end. It is a good storyline and it is good, clean Christian fiction.
What an amazing demonstration of trusting God with all your heart. Hannah is woman of faith, courage and dignity. This is a beautiful love story in more than one way!
