In what looks to be the final adventure of teenage superspy Theo, codenamed Winger, the action and suspense begin in chapter one and don’t let up until the very end. Theo has already been through a lot including several attacks, several security issues, and the shocking betrayal of his boyfriend in the previous book. And yes, this series is best read in order because each installment builds on the previous one and watching Theo develop as he gets more involved in the agency his parents work for is a large part of the enjoyment – at least for me.

This is the final installment in the Codename Winger series and I’m sad to see it end. This is NOT the typical YA LGBTQ book. It’s a techno-thriller with a main character that just happens to be a young openly gay man.
In prior books we’ve seen a savant-like computer security nerd with a preternatural level of maturity face challenges that many gay teens face. e.g. Trying to balance his secret life with his hockey and school commitments while keeping his boyfriend happy. Of course in Theo’s case he’s in the closet about being a spy, not that he’s gay. We’ve seen him face a kidnapping attempt, deal with coaching fellow computer geeks, while being hunted by a terrorist, suffer musical mental manipulation, and finally, actually have a major boyfriend crisis.
Of course THAT creates a bit of a cliff-hanger of sorts that needs to get resolved in this, the final book.
In this the final book, the challenges are greater, and the danger even more close to home. While in some ways, we see Theo become stronger in each book, we also see him open up more in each book, and let himself feel what other folks his age are feeling. That vulnerability only increases the empathy that the reader feels for this brave young man. The scenes in this book include more crying than what’s common among your typical “action hero”/James Bond types. However, if you’re like me, you’ll find that they just help make our hero more human, more relatable and more lovable. One warning though: Be sure and lay in a stack of tissues as there may well be some collateral crying fall-out.
Now that the series is ending, I’ll miss young Theo, but perhaps, someday soon we’ll hear about a new couple. I think that Max and Rodney (a couple we meet late in the book) sound like a couple I’d care to hear more about. I wonder if Iowa born Max is anywhere near as good at hockey as Theo seemed to be in these books.
Given our teen-aged main characters, there is still no graphic sex depicted here. Though toward the end we do get intimations that our MCs future will contain, as John Green puts it… “plenty of skoodelypooping.”
Kirt Graves does the audiobook narration and his youthful voice is perfect for the first person narration as seen by Theo. There is not as much scope here for his other character’s dialogue voices as in previous books, but those that are here are spot on.

I loved this book. It was awesome. As I keep reading the series it gets better and better. It is so sad to say goodbye to this characters that I fall in love with, since is the last book in the series, but I still enjoy the travel that left me to this ending.
It start with the fast pace and full of action moments that I love. It gets a bit slower as the story keeps going, but there’s always the sense of being on the edge all the time. The plot, always so unique, left me hook to it. It was very hard to put it down. I was angry at myself for not read faster and for not having enough time to read, but I still manage to finish it in a day.
I loved Theo and all of the secondary characters, somehow even the bad guys were a bit likable. One of the missing parts was the family time that I loved so much from the previous book, but it had a reason for being that way so I was fine with it. It might not have been much, but I still enjoyed some sweet time between Theo and his love ones. It had a lot of action, but one of the things I liked the most about the book is how easy is to get in touch with the emotions of the main character. I even had to hold back some tears at times.
This has been a fascinating series. Theo has taken a special spot in my heart. I wouldn’t hesitate on recommend it to anyone who likes books with a lot of action and who like YA. It does have some angst on it, particularly this instalment, but overall the good times, plot, writing and the easy emotional connection with the characters make up for every moment I felt angry at the author for putting Theo through so much. Definitely recommended book.

I read this in one sitting as I couldn’t put it down. Loved it, especially the way all the plot points came together from previous books. A very satisfying yet bittersweet ending, and although the series is over, I’m hoping we might see more of these characters and their world one day.
The tension starts in the first few pages and doesn’t let up until the end. What happens to some of the characters is horrific, and realistic, and brings out the seriousness of what’s at stake. I liked that although Theo is capable, he’s still very much a teenager trying to stay under the radar in an adult world. I also liked his uncertainty about who he can trust, especially with the way TOS has been compromised.
I loved the part that other characters play in this, and the resolution of the fallout from book 3. I thought that part of the plotline was nicely tied up and I liked the hope for the future once Theo and his allies get through the terrible situation they’re in.
Dean totally rocks, and then some.
There’s a brilliant moment where it’s looking like Theo’s plans are unravelling as he forgot something. I thought having him make mistakes not only showed that he’s fallible and real, but reinforces how formidable his foe is.
I’d recommend not only the rollercoaster read of this final book, but also reading the series in order as each book builds upon the one before. One of the best YA series I’ve read in ages, and one I will be re-reading.

Nothing like a good cry to end the evening. *sigh* #EvilAuthor
Naive reader that I can sometimes be, I assumed that since Theo was put through so much in Audio Assault and this was the last book in the Codename: Winger series that this would be more a book of healing than heartbreak. For the record, I couldn’t have been more wrong. Before the end of the first chapter, Theo’s life was thrown into a tailspin that was even worse than where readers left him at the end of the last book. Yikes!
This is going to be another book in this series that will be really hard to review, so I apologize in advance for the vagueness. I want to rant and I want to explain exactly why things were so difficult for Theo throughout most of this book, but I can’t. What I can tell potential readers is that nothing is quite what it seems and Theo is not only left on the run from almost the very beginning of Netminder, but he’s also pretty much on his own. He has to figure out how to navigate without his usual resources and eventually he has to resort to depending on some pretty surprising allies. Theo continued to impress me with not only his abilities, but his personality. He was wise in more ways than one.
Did I mention that there were tears? I honestly should have expected them, but there were still moments that took me by surprise. Although things were brought to a satisfying end, I’m not quite sure it was enough of a HEA for me to totally forgive this particular #EvilAuthor for all he put Theo through in the process. It’s also worth mentioning that I’m not disappointed at all that the door was left open for readers to see more of Theo (and others) in the future.

What an exceptional series for YA
The extraordinary story continues; winger experiences the worst thing possible; his home has had a major break-in. All his tech is missing, but someone is hurt, are they dead?
Theo (Winger) ends up running, not being able to tell anyone where he is. He hides out in a motel. But in the end, he's blackmailed into turning himself in when his best friend Mitch is kidnapped.
TOS is also majorly broken; there is no one left to trust or turn to.
The storyline is intricate and keeps you interested throughout the book. Theo (Codename Winger) works for the same organisation as his mum and dad. Although he usually only helps out from his room.
Theos heart is broken into a million pieces, again and again; we all go through various emotions in this book, but I can tell you after the tears, and there will be some, you do get a HEA.
To read the grieving that Theo goes through is harsh, but we all experience heartbreak as a teenager/ young adult at some point in our lives. I have loved listening to these books, even if they are far fetched in some areas, but that's the joy of stories.
Kirt Graves did wonders with the characters. Easy to listen to. I did speed up the narration like usual to 1.3 on BookFunnel.

So much action!
Wow, what a conclusion to a thrilling series! I loved everything about the Code Name: Winger books. Netminder kept me on the edge of my seat for much of the story. Some of what I’m going to write will be pretty cryptic because if I say too much it would be too spoiler-y.
We find out why certain things happened in the last book (which ended on a bit of a cliffhanger). Lots of stuff gets blown up in this book and many lives were lost.
While this series isn’t really a romance there have been romantic components with Theo and his boyfriend, Eddie. There is more of that in this book.
I love stories that make me feel things deeply and this one surely did that. I don’t believe I shed any tears while listening to the first three books but Netminder was gut-wrenching in places and I was nearly sobbing near the end of the story. Kirt Graves did such a good job conveying the emotions that all of the characters felt, especially Theo.
I really hated to see this series end. Jeff Adams left things open enough that there could be more books about this secret agency and I will be near the head of the line to read them if he writes more about Theo and his adventures.

I felt like this was the best book of the series. I'm trying to write this without too many spoilers, so I'm not going to go into too much detail. This book was much more of a spy novel than some of the previous books. We've seen Theo grow both as an agent and in how he deals with the situations that come his way. This time though he doesn't have his usual support team, so we really get see how he handles when everything is on the line. There are some powerful (and at time unexpected) plot points with secondary characters, but the focus is really on Theo and his role as Winger with TOS. The very beginning of the story I had some issues with and some points almost seemed too good to be true (it's fiction, sometimes you just have to go with it), but overall I think this was the strongest story in the series.
Usually my biggest issue with the last book in the series is I'm left wondering what's next, but I really liked the ending for this book. I thought it did a great job of wrapping things up. I wouldn't object to more stories in that "world", but I don't feel like it was unfinished in any way.

I don't even know how to write this review. On one hand I adored it, and on the other there were parts I hated. I guess that is a sign of a great book and series, though, when you are so invested in characters that you need tears to get through the book. Theo has grown a lot through this series. This was a much heavier book, but it needed to be to get us through Blackbird's attempts at thwarting TOS. It was a fantastic thriller of a story. My only issue is that:
I know this was the end, but a "down the road" follow up story would be super awesome. I could see lots of future adventures for all of these characters.

This review is for the Audiobook version of Netminder by Jeff Adams.
This book seemed a bit more realistic than the first three books where right prevailed and (almost) everyone survived and life went back to normal. That is not the case here. I feel like I can't say much in this review without giving spoilers, but people who are close to Theo die or are permanently injured, friends are separated forever, and it seemed more like Theo just survived in the end. The life of a spy, I suppose, but the ending seemed very sad to me. Made me feel like who really won? It felt like even the winners lost. It's a well-written story with plenty of emotion, suspense, technical gadgetry, friendship, heroism, and a number of surprises, but for me it didn't have a happy ending.
The narration was okay, but some of the character voices sounded the same to me, and I really had to pay attention sometimes to know who was speaking.
I received a free copy of this audiobook and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

Netminder is Book 4 in the Codename Winger series. This is such an enjoyable series. It is told from Theo's POV and needs to be enjoyed in order. This book starts out tragic and I wasn't sure where it was going. Hoping for the best I continued on. After a breach at his home Theo finds himself on the run. And after his friend gets kidnapped he goes to save him and finds the last person he ever thought he'd see again. And said person was willing to help. This book is action packed with twists and turns. I was pleased with the ending, considering, and hope for an amazing future for Netminder.
Definitely recommend! Totally binge worthy!

The last in this all action YA series with plenty of plot twists and turns. I was given a copy of this book by GGR for an honest review and although I don't usually read YA, I thought I would give this book a go, as I found the story idea intriguing. The action starts almost immediately and doesn't let up until the end, but it is also an emotional read, tears maybe shed. seeing how feelings of grief and betrayal can come out at the inopportune time and how Theo deals with this shows the depths of this character. I enjoyed reading about this world that the author has created, the characters were colourful and likeable even the ones your not supposed to like. I have only read this book in the series and found it to be easy to pick up. will I read the rest of the series? maybe, I will however recommend it to the teenager in my life.

Theo has overcome so much throughout this series and the author has written his journey of growth and development in such a completely realistic manner.
The friendship/relationship with Mitch has been amazing to see.
A fittingly amazing conclusion full of action, danger, suspense and emotionally compelling end on a hopeful note for future forays into the Codename : Winger series.
Kirt Graves has once again done an outstanding job narrating this series.

End of an age
Theo leaves the YA world behind and enters a far grittier and more cutthroat world of spies and terrorists. Theo does a lot of maturing as he’s cut off from his usual support and trying to outwit Blackbird. There’s so much more I want to say, but can’t without delving into spoilers and this finale is better experienced without any.
In addition to reading this, I’ve also listened to the audiobook and thought Kirt Graves did a good job with it. His vocalization of Theo matches his emotions and progressive maturity. Voices for some of the other characters could use work here and there, but overall worth taking the time to listen.
Theo leaves the YA world behind and enters a far grittier and more cutthroat world of spies and terrorists. Theo does a lot of maturing as he’s cut off from his usual support and trying to outwit Blackbird. There’s so much more I want to say, but can’t without delving into spoilers and this finale is better experienced without any.
In addition to reading this, I’ve also listened to the audiobook and thought Kirt Graves did a good job with it. His vocalization of Theo matches his emotions and progressive maturity. Voices for some of the other characters could use work here and there, but overall worth taking the time to listen.

This has been an amazing series and I’m hoping the author will give us a glimpse of Theo/Winger in the future. The story was sooo good, I literally didn’t put it down. Secrets, danger, action, what more could you want? The story was really well written, highly recommend! I am voluntarily leaving a review form an advanced copy that I received. Jeff Adams' series, Codename Winger, continues with Netminder. So many secrets, so much to overcome. So much to survive for... this book blew me away. Danger, action, excitement. These characters are amazing, the story incredible.... so far this year, this series has etched itself onto my top 5 reads!.

This series was amazing!!! I have to admit I was a bit sadden but the end of the last book but Netminder swooped in and saved the day!!! I loved seeing Thor’s growth throughout the series. All the techs spy stuff was very interesting and I loved it!!!SoSoSoSo good!!

What a Finale, We see Blackbird back, where they manage to kill or hurt alot of TOS, just to get to Winger (Theo). They kidnap best friend Mitch to get his attention, Theo has grown into a brilliant young man in this book, where he ends up saving the world, and gets his boyfriend back. The sttory isn't without tears, but brilliantly written and narrated.

This was such a stunning conclusion to the Codename series and I’m going to miss the characters so much. I would definitely love to read more, maybe with Theo being an adult, but I don’t feel like the ending was lacking at all! I thoroughly enjoyed the entire series and I would not recommend reading them out of order for maximum enjoyment.

This series has been such an amazing adventure, and I'm so sad to see it come to an end.
I absolutely loved Theo aka Code named Winger. He was an interesting character for sure.
This series is a technological thriller and i recommend listening to this one in the series order for maximum enjoyment.
The narration was enjoyable and engaging.

This book certainly took my breath away , I was extremely anxious to read book 4 after how book 3 ended — certainly many surprises…..
Action plus in this book which isn’t unusual for Theo or his parents..
All the characters are solid, and extremely likeable.
This has been a wonderful series it’s a little sad letting them go.
Again perfect narration by Kirt Graves ..

Netminder by Jeff Adams. Wow. What can I say? This book had everything. A love story that went beyond the pages. Adventure, mystery. Omg. from the first chapter this book started making my spider sense go all tingly. And it didn't stop all the way through. I couldn't put this one down. I got caught up so much with these characters and was getting teary with them at the funerals.

Another fantastic instalment by Jeff Adams, everything you loved about the previous books and more. Theo is a great character to follow and see grow. And to know the audio version is narrated by Kirt Graves makes it even better.

4 and a half stars rounded up. I was in the mood for a suspenseful action story, and this one hit all the marks.
