Shinka Fox is an up and coming music artist. She's moved to start school in a new academy in California. She's expecting life to be just another run of the mill time, and that she won't even last long at this academy so she's not looking to make a good first impression. What she doesn't expect when she starts school is for a group of girls to take an immediate dislike to her. Nor is she prepared for the hottest guy there to take a notice in there her first day there. Of course, this only goes to fuel the dislike of the other girls. One of the popular girls seems to befriend Shinka, but is there more to her than meets the eye? Shinka soon becomes the target of a group of people who want the jewel that she wears around her neck. She has no idea why, but Abel appears more than a couple times to help her out. Turns out Abel has a secret and it won't be long before he lets her in on it and the many layers that it holds. The Gargoyle Redemption Trilogy is the first book that I have read by Bria Lexor and overall it's an interesting book. On a level, this book is a typical YA supernatural novel. Shinka learns that there are people with secrets all around her, and she learns them one at a time. The story moves at a good pace, and touches on most aspects of Shinka's life from school, to some of her time in the studio as she records her music and her spending time with Abel. I like the variety of characters that the author introduces us to throughout the story. There is definitely variety with: Hunters, Slayers, gargoyles, and dragons! I loved it! My issues with the story are that...sometimes the author moves things a little too fast. Literally, one minute Abel is threatening Shinka to never speak to him again or he'll do bodily harm and then the next chapter he's telling her he loves her. I got whiplash. Now, the author does say that months pass, but if they don't talk during that time at all...I don't see how it's now okay for this character to do a 180. Especially when he doesn't even really know her! From there the author eludes to the two of them sleeping together. I don't have a problem with this per se I just have an issue with how quickly everything happens. It's like bam, bam, bam, bam, bam! Also, this book could use some editing. There are some spelling issues and a few punctuation issues as well. All in all, I think that this is an enjoyable book. It has its issues, but it's an interesting story with some interesting twists as well. I like the ideas that the author had concerning this story, but I think that it doesn't flow as well as it could. There are spots of where it seems to skip ahead and so the story isn't as good as it could be. I think that those who enjoy reading about supernatural creatures will enjoy this book. This is a good YA novel with no graphic language or explicit content.
This is a new author for me. And I am glad I found her. I really enjoyed this book. It was well written , fast paced, strong characters and it kept me turning the pages. It had everything love, suspense, paranormal , mystery powers and so much more. Drinks was a young pop star with a secret. She met Abel who also has secrets. Can she stay alive? Can Able protect her? No spoilers from me. The journey they take together will it in in an hea? You will have to read the book to answer these questions. I highly recommend this book.
I was gifted a copy of this. wow I just finished one by the author and was hooked and Bria Lexor does not disappoint on this one it's great I love it..
