Crime Never Pays… Well yes and no depending on what side of the fence you’re on!

I’ve always had a strong passion for whodunnits, crime series, and books. The more I immersed myself in it, the stronger the fascination grew.

In my spare time, you’ll find me in the gym, reading, binge watching Netflix or taking walks in the forest.

Oh, and I’m an avid people watcher, I just love to watch people, their mannerisms, and their way of expressing their thoughts… weird I know, but I could spend hours doing that. It's funny, because watching people often gives me insights and inspiration for describing human interaction in my books.

Fun fact: My favourite, bestest place ever on earth? Any of the Florida theme parks and the mad coasters out there. Add the food, shopping and weather, and you've got the best place on earth... especially when I see the joy on the faces of my family when we're out there :)

Weird fact: Spending an afternoon in a mortuary to bring my books to life. Oops! poor choice of words there :)

I hope you enjoy the stories I craft for you.

This is first in a series that features Police Officer Thomas Cade, a man edging to retirement. He's been patrolling the same area for years .... he knows the people, he knows the gangs, and he's perfectly okay with refusing any promotions that would take him away. This is the place he feels more needed, more respected ... and he does right by these people.

Today he is paired for the the first time with a new partner. Alexa Rivera is a rookie, full of excitement to be patrolling. She lives life with a sense of anticipation and energy. She approaches life as an adventure. And she has definite plans for her future.

Then comes the call ... a hostage situation. There is no back up available, so Cade and Rivera are alone. Shots are fired and bodies lay dead. Life as Cade knows it ends in a heartbeat.

This is a well-written crime fiction, with finely drawn unforgettable characters. I really enjoyed the back and forth between Cade and Rivera. There are so many differences ,,, male/female .... older/younger ..... Texan born and bred / Hispanic .... has seen just about everything on the streets / everything is sparkling new.

I look forward to the next in this series.

Houston, TX. Knoxville St. Officer Thomas Cade (Houston PD) & Officer Alexa Rivera (Mexican, Houston PD partner) were cruising their beat.
Next stop Duane St. The 2 gangbangers weren’t intimidated.
Cornrows (aka Lamar Washington) smarted off, as did Terrell.
Moses “Mo” Mohammed (Original gangster OG) came over to speak to Officer Thomas Cade.
Mrs. Jackson felt a whole lot safer.
211 in progress. Wheeler’s Discount Liquor 9566 Scott St. Officer Cade & Officer Rivera arrived at the crime scene.

Juan Miguel Cortina (Mexican, husband, Uncle, owner) said his niece Constanza (mgr./clerk) still in the store was not responding to his calls.
Shots were exchanged & Officer Cade had been shot in the leg & Officer Rivera & Clinton Reeves (junkie) lives were over.
Clinton had just killed an elderly couple before he came to the Liquor store.
All the Sunnyside precinct had turned out for Alexa’s Catholic funeral.
Ms. Chiara Johnson came to talk with Officer Cade. It was her parents who were gunned down in their home.
10-16 at 1992 Sparrow St. Kings Row. Officer Cade & Officer Darnell “Hightower” Bryant (Houston PD) responded.
Inspector Archer (55+, IAD) & Inspector Hyram (55+, IAD colleague) came to speak with Officer Cade.

I do not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing free books from publishers & authors. Therefore, I am under no obligation to write a positive review, only an honest one.

An awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very professionally written cop crime thriller book. It was extremely easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great description list of unique characters, settings, facts etc. to keep track of. This could also make another great cop crime thriller movie, or better yet a mini TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is an extremely easy rating of 5 stars.

Thank you for the free author; 282publishing; Amazon Digital Services LLC.; book.

Can A Police Officer Always Be A Police Officer?

There's an answer to that question in this book. I'll leave that answer for you to find but remember that many in law enforcement have a strong desire to make life safer for all by choosing such a profession. Author Jay Nadal has shown in this story how the altruistic approach can be troublesome standard to aspire to when you see the often undeniable truth around you that says, "Don't bother." The characters are right from real life. The plot could be from anywhere in today's world. And it would be no less of a story than if it were pulled from the local news. I enjoyed reading this book and found myself with the same feelings that Cade felt. Everyone has a breaking point.

Cade’s attitude that street criminals are victims of their upbringing, where they live and their parents lifestyles.
He is always wanting to let the criminal go with wise words rather than ruin their lives by arresting them.
Sadly Cade’s idealistic attitude is pushed to the limits and he ends up killing a youth in a locator store hold up and hostage situation, where his roomy partner is killed.
This sets him on a downward spiral where he questions his attitude and he ends up teaming up with a known tough action Street cop where TW youths are killed by Cade.
What does the future hold for him now as he is investigating by Internal Affairs?

I’m likely to buy the first numbered book in the Cade series as the back story really engaged me.

First book in a new series, we are getting to know veteran Officer Thomas Cade, and rookie cop Alexa Rivera, his new partner.

The story is short, and to the point: a day patrolling, Cade showing the ropes to Rivera, until all hell breaks loose when they respond to a dispatch call: shots fired, at least a civilian as a hostage, a really rough baptism for Rivera... will they survive?

This is a truly interesting take in policial procedure's novels, as it follows a mature beat cop, instead of a hot-shot profiler or homicide detective, and I'm really curious about where this series is going.

Realistic

5*

A police officer, trying to uphold the law, is cited for over the top actions, yet when faced with the troubling issues of kill or die, the officer comes out alive, the bad dead, there are always going to be victims rights claiming excessive and/ or deadly force is an over-the-top response.

Jay Nadal, manages to use this knowledge to great extent by writing a powerful story. The officer, Cade, gradually feels that the public he is trying to serve is against him, and the higher ups in the force are out to get him, he confounds all logic and quits while supposedly being interviewed by the circumstances surrounding his actions
