Purchased this book via Kindle for Blackberry yesterday. I'd forgotten about the Spartans and the Deadly Nightshades. Really good so far.

06/02/2010. Finished Red Demon and I really liked it. I love series that do a good job of focucing on a central plot but also answers questions that have lingered since that last installment. Knight has a wonderful way of bringing closure to characters issues as well as presenting readers with something else to look forward to. The feud with Ares continues and there are some serious issues concerning Leonidas and Daphne; also Sable is fighting an uphill battle with Sophie and the vision that she's had about their shared future. As good as it was, I think that Red Demon was not dynamic as the first two books. Aristos and Juliana were finally reunited but Juliana really started to get on my nerves. I wanted her to be more involved in her rescue like Shay and Emma. Maybe she'll have gained some strength the next time we meet her?

Botton line: Good book and worth the cover (or Kindle) price.

Immortal spartan gets a chance at the love he lost a hundred years ago when the ghost of his beloved makes a deal and gains corporeal form.

The story between Ari and Julia was fine but I found the other pairs more compelling King Leonidas and the blue haired oracle and also Mason and Niko (yes m/m but no m/m sex). There was just a great deal more pathos to these other pairs. One thing that bothered me a bit, was that there was alot of interrupted clinches between all the pairs in the books - this is fine as a tension builder once or twice but it was overused here.

Next up is Leonidas in Red Mortal.

Since reading the first 2 books in the Midnight Gods series last summer I knew that this series was an absolute keeper. The wait felt like an eternity and when the time was finally there I realized with a shock that I couldn't afford the book. HORROR! Luckily the wonderful pattepoilue took pity with me and my months-long-book-abstinence and surprised me with this one. Thanks so much hon. You are made of awesome.

So I couldn't wait to start this book and from the first few pages I knew that I would love this book, too. Red Demon is all about Aristos and Juliana. At the end of Red Fire was this scene where we met Juliana for the first time and yes I craved to know what was behind that for 1 year.

We already know Aristos as a part of our Spartan brotherhood and he always was one of my favorites. He's funny, he cares and he is like the glue that keeps the brothers together. In Red Demon he is a bit changed. At the end of Red Fire his life was changed dramatically, not only because he saw his long dead love again. His new powers, or perhaps burden is better, make his life a bit more complicated. And who wouldn't be freaking out when you see the love of your life again after her being dead for 100 years? He struggles with his emotions. He is afraid to believe that she is real and to fall in love again, just to be left alone- mourning again. My heart broke for him. He loves her still, he never really stopped. His heart was and will always be hers. *sigh* Oh my, 100 years and no other woman. It is totally unrealistic but I love it. There is also the guilt of her death. Ari believes that he caused her death indirectly with showing her his shifter side. No matter what she say he is 100% sure that was scared of him and his unnatural form and committed suicide because she just couldn't cope with it. Ari always was a man of jokes and pun and it was a bit strange to see him like this at first but I discovered real fast why that is so.

Julianna is a strong and open-minded person. At first she is a bit confused but as a ghost I wouldn't expect her to realize and understand everything that happens around her. She has deep feelings for Ari, so deep that they prevent her from going on after dying. She HAD to see him again, no matter what, so she never in all those years let go of her old life. When she's back under the living she feels a bit lost. The whole world has changed so much but even more she is afraid of Ari turning her down. What will she do then? In a world she doesn't understand with no one to turn to for help? I really liked her and her way of handling Ari. Sure she has some old-fashioned ideas about modesty but she knows what she wants and she always was a "feminist" at heart. She quickly adapts to the new way of life even more with the help of her female descendants.

The romance in this book is scorching. Ms Knight sure knows how to melt my heart. Two lovers rediscovering each other after a very long time without each other. They took their time but when they finally are at that point the air around you will begin to sizzle. The only thing I say is sky smex. *dreams*

Another point which makes this series wonderful is that Ms Knight knits her future story-lines into her novels. I already crave Leo's & Daphne's and (hopefully) Mason's & Nikos' book. Leo and Daphne have a heartbreaking foundation for there love and as I see the development these two take, I'm sure I have to prepare myself for tears while reading the next book. Mason and Nikos, these to nearly make me speechless because of all the emotion I feel while thinking of them. I want, no I need them to get an HEA and preferable in a book. *wink* Actually I love all her side characters. I squeeeed every time I read a chapter about one of the future couples. I'm already so addicted.

Red Demon is a wonderful new addition to this series: great story, action, love, passion and friendship. It will make you laugh and make you cry but you will feel very good after you read the last word. As always Ms Knight touched my heart with her prose and especially the love she puts into her writing. Wonderful book and highly recommended to all PNR lovers.

Over a hundred years ago the hero fell in love with a soft spoken, southern bell whom he gave his heart to unconditionally. But she didn't know what he truly was, she didn't see the wings that in his mind made him repelling. When she invited him to her home one night so they could consummate their love, she's horrified at the image of his transformed body and he flees in disgrace and shame. Then he is devastated when he finds out she killed herself. Now, in present time the hero-newly gifted with his friends powers and curse, the hero is being plagued by phone calls by a medium who says the heroine is trying to contact him. He puts it off because he doesn't want to believe his love is truly unrested after all these years as well as the pain the thought of her puts in his heart. But finally he goes to the medium house and is suddenly in the presence of the woman he one-and still-owned his heart. Temporarily she's taken control of the body of his friends wife and pleads for him to listen to her. She tells him she loves him, that she waited for him and is hurt that he didn't come to her. Lost in the torture of having her near and all the emotions that come with, he kisses her and is swiftly knocked out by his friend. The hero wakes up to the heroine in his room. She claims she was visited by an angel who granted her life and everything that comes with it. The hero is convinced she's a demon and harsh words are said as he tries to wrap his head around everything. Soon, though, one his friends confirmed she's real and not a demon, he surrenders to the love that's always been in his heart. Together they play house and are happy for the first time since her 'suicide'. But all of that comes crashing down. The angel who gifted her life truly was a demon and now its taken control of the heroines body in repayment. Now the hero must fight with everything he has not to lose the woman he loves again. My god what a painful book. From start to finish this book was like nails on a chalkboard. I've had this book for while now and have attempt to read it on several occasions previously without success but I finally buckled down and read the damn this just to get it out of my to-read pile. And....and it was a horrible as I knew it was going to be. Was it a bad book? Let us count the ways. 1. Stupid and lifeless plot where nothing happened for the first 200 pages. 2. Stupid and unlikable characters. The heroine was naïve and ignorant and without a brain cell in her head. The hero was a whiny bitch who tormented over every single detail of his life. When a hot woman you love is throwing herself at you- why the hell do you deny yourself what she is very obviously freely giving? 3. Very disjointed- skipping CD-style of writing. Repetition of the every single statement was heavy and the characters talked in circles more often then they actually communicated. Repetition of the every single statement was heavy and the characters talked in circles more often then they actually communicated. Repetition of the every single statement was heavy and the characters talked in circles more often then they actually communicated. 100% I recommend this book to no one and advise every read with half a brain to skip it entirely.

Deidre Knights new book Red Demon from the Gods of Midnight series continues to take us into the world of immortal Spartan warriors fighting for humans while struggling with their own desires. You know the story about the Spartans don’t you? Well if not let me refresh your memory. Around the time 490 BC, the Greeks desperate to stop the invading Persian enlist King Leonidas of Sparta to stand against these invaders. The battle at Thermopylae ended with every last Spartan fighting until they were killed. Deidre Knight’s the Gods of Midnight series builds a world where seven of the fiercest of these warriors are given a chance by Ares, the God of War, to become immortal warriors and continue protecting mankind.

These warriors are strongly loyal and intensely passionate when it comes to the women they love. Wow sexy is just not enough to describe Deidre Knight Spartan warriors. Aristos Petrakos is one of those chosen to defend mankind, and Red Demon is his story. Dangerous, edgy and just about as lick-able as a man can get.

Deidre Knight is an artistic writer in her ability to give life to the scenes she writes. Whether it’s a fighting scene where you can hear the battle waging around you, or love scene where you can feel the heat rushing through your veins. The whole story surrounds you all the way to the end. I have been having a delightful time reading this series. If hunk-a -licious immortal warriors do it for you then I think you’re going to enjoy this series too.

While searching for a demon in 1893 Savannah Aristos (a demon fighting Spartan Immortal) met and fell in love with Juliana. Aristos believes Juliana committed suicide by jumping into the Savannah River because she found him repulsive when she saw him in his altered form. (In their altered eagle form all the Spartan Immortals grow in size and have wings) Juliana did not commit suicide but was cursed. As a ghost she continued to love Aristos and wait for his return. For over a hundred years Aristos has kept his love for Juliana a secret from his Spartan brothers. Upon his return to Savannah Juliana makes a bargain with what she thinks is an angel to retain her human form and the two are reunited. However, the angel Juliana made the bargain with is really a demon. A Demon who plans to possess Juliana and destroy the Immortals. This is the central storyline. The ongoing attraction between Daphne (the Oracle) and King Leo, Mason Angel dealing with the loss of his lover in Iran, and the attraction of Sophie (a healer) to the demon Sable help make this an exciting and gripping novel.

I didn't like this one as much as the previous two in the series...too religious. The battle between good and evil is very pronounced and overly religious. I did like Aristos who was so in love that it was almost unmanly but he did lose Juliana for a century so I can certainly understand his reaction. Interestingly enough, Juliana was from the victorian age and even in current times, kept her victorian mannerisms except when they were getting it on...then she was pure slut. Not a bad book but not something I would read again.

I'm not sure about the next book in the series Red Mortal which appears to focus on King Leonides and Daphne. You get a good deal of their story in this one and I can't see where they actually need their own book. I'd be much more interested in the other warriors so we'll see.

Decent book to read, but if I had limited time, I would pass it up for others. I think mostly because the author hits one of my major irritations in romance books. She keeps stressing and stressing about how the female protagonists are virgins and just "so innocent". It just bothers me. Otherwise, fun book, but not a great book.

The main female, Juliana, was very annoying. The fact she was from the Victorian age thrown into the present completely threw me. The only reason I kept reading were the other bystories. I wanted more of Nik and Mason, and Sable and Sophie.

I didn't think it was as good as the others in the series. I liked the secondary stories a little more then the main story. I cannot wait for the next one though!

Another good book in the series, but apparently a bit forgettable. I just read this book again and I did not remember a single thing from the story.

not my favorite in series, a few reviews complained about Juliana and I agree. I found myself fast forwarding through parts of her and Ari, who I always liked. I found her a foppish twit who was only interesting when possessed. Fortunately the other couples i.e. Nic and Mason, Leo and Daphne, and especially Sable & Sophie carried the book, and you need to slog through to get to book 4( I am one of those people who must read the series in order). Not the best of the lot, but if you're invested in the series you must read.
