Provides insight into the world of international athletics and elite sport and the path to becoming a world champion. Includes full-colour and black-and-white photographs, short list of honours, and index. Author's previous titles include 'King Wally' and a biography of Greg Chappell.
A really well written insightful biography that is a cut above a lot of sporting biographies. It drags a little in patches, but only when some of the narrative becomes a little repetitive. It certainly was not patronising towards Freeman in any sense and I enjoyed that. The only downfall to me as the reader was that the book finished in 1998, just 2 years before she won gold in the 2000 Olympics. This was really frustrating to me and I wonder if there have been other editions published with an extra chapter added on to it to capture her 2000 achievement. Worthwhile reading though.
