Acolyte's Underworld

Rate this book
Every power has its price.

When Ella and Tai earned the power of a god, she thought they were finally safe--until another god started trying to take it from them. To defeat him she must go empty-handed and undercover in his own city--the same city she fled years ago. To succeed she'll first have to defeat the ghosts of her past.

Some prices cannot be paid in coin.

Duped into killing an innocent man, Marea Fetterwel returns to the same city to make it right and take control of her life--only to find she cannot fix her mistakes, her family no longer wants her, and even her friends are abandoning her. A stranger there offers her the power to change all that--for a price.

I just adore the world building in this series. If you're a fan of richly drawn cities and landscapes, complex magical systems and great characters, then you'll love this latest installment of the Resonant Saga. I really enjoyed the addition of fatewalking as a resonance, and experiencing how it was used. You don't get as much of Tai in this book, but Ella was my favourite character from Beggar's Rebellion, so I'm totally fine with that! These books get compared to Sanderson a lot, and I can see why. I definitely recommend this series.
