It was a simple request, right? Just stroll into the coffee shop on the corner, grab my usual cup of liquid nitrogen, and walk back out.
All while minding my own business.
But I had to walk in at that exact moment. Not ten minutes earlier. Not ten minutes later. Precisely when Savannah Fields needed someone to help her. When no one except me had the courage to stand up for her.
After the incident, she looked at me like I was her hero. But I’m no hero. I don’t even know who or what I am anymore. Who is Nick Tucker? A DEA agent? A criminal? Both? Neither? The lines I crossed while undercover blurred my staunch sense of morality.
Then the auburn-haired beauty showed up at my apartment, begging for my help. I couldn’t turn her away.
The more I lost myself in her, the more I found myself again. Or so I thought. Even a broken clock gets to be right twice a day. There's a fine line between right and wrong, love and hate, heaven and hell.
As much as I love the narrators, I have to dnf @ 44%
I find nothing sexy about a woman getting beaten severely by an ex boyfriend, and in less than a day, when she's still bruised and battered, she's having lustful thoughts about another man. And the so called hero, having lustful thoughts about a beaten and bruised woman is no better. It's a no and several 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 for me.
The book has a good message for sure, but I couldn't stop to wonder, if the fiction was too exaggerated.
He was an undercover agent 'working' for 2 years in a cruel motorcycle club, which was involved in drugs and prostitution. WHAT things had he to do to prove his allegiance???! The was a scene at the beginning, where he witnessed a rape of women, but couldn't help them, coz undercover. Well, I respect every person to put his/her life im danger to help the others; but still I couldn't quite stomach his involvement in that cruel world from the moral perspective. As the h, who was abused by her bf for years, and he/H started to communicate, she never asked WHAT things had he to do to prove his allegiance. (As far I understood he didn't have sex while undercover, but I'm not sure.)
I would never call any woman, who suffered abuse, weak. Never. But this one was kind of naive.
She never filed for a restraining order. Why? Coz it wouldn't stop her ex?! I beg to differ! If there had beed a restraining order, h's abusive ex would have been arrested the day he assaulted her at the coffee shop. And what a policeman let an abhorrent POS just go, when many witnesses said he hurt the victim?!....
Her BFF was married to a detective and even she didn't advise the heroine to search protection?!
Last but not least, the hero's identity was blown off and he was on news. Really? Would any government let its undercover agents to be that publicly 'stalked' by the press?! Did you ever watch any news-report showing an undercover agent with an 'unblurred' foto of him?!

FMC(ER nurse) in verbally and physically abusive non-relationship with biker dude for years. They once dated, but the FMC now has spent years being bossed around, hit, and berated by this biker dude. MMC (DEA agent) spent years undercover with same biker gang, but in a different area and didn’t know him. MMC swoops in and saves her. Problem is that NOTHING in this story is remotely believable. Here’s a look…
FMC isn’t in relationship with biker, but uproots her life to move across the country because he told her he’d kill everyone she loves if she doesn’t. No thinking, planning, nothing. She just does it.
She proceeds to live with the biker (kinda) for two years before wanting to escape the shit show after moving with him across country. So, what does she do? She works the same job and remains in the same town, but just moves to a new apartment. Like he couldn’t follow her to her new place~ Jesus, take the wheel.
3) But, the biker doesn’t do anything simple like follow her. No, he uses an app to find her ~ Jesus, take over the navigation here.
4) MMC jogs in a DEA agent jacket as he is on the news awaiting trial for his undercover case. Now, call me crazy, but DEA don’t wear such a jacket OFF the job, and undercover agents don’t go around advertising themselves. That’s not to mention that the biker gang he turned on would … oh, I don’t know… possibly be out for revenge and such SAF shit would put an even bigger target on identifying him ~ Jesus, needs to take repossession of the whole damn car.. err… book.
5)The biker’s MCLUB sent him from LA to DC on a recruit mission. It doesn’t go right. Biker just drops his cut and allegiance to his MCLUB and hides out from them in the city he was sent to. Ah, so the club doesn’t send anyone after him? I thought these guys were all stone cold killer mofos? Mmkay, even Jesus can’t help.
6) The FMC is weeks escaped the biker, but she’s writing a book on her ordeal and all that she could’ve done right. Meanwhile, as she’s writing this shit, she would’ve just gone right along with the biker forcefully taking her if not for the savior MMC.
7) FMC has been abused for years now - but NEVER sexually? In fact, the biker makes her move, uses her a mule, calls her a whore and suspects her of screwing everyone, but he doesn’t try to have sex with her, use her as a MCLUB sheep, claim her as an old lady, etc. That’s completely illogical. Rainbows shooting out of a pile of donkey doo.
8) Biker beats her within an inch of life. MMC automatically deducts its because the biker was “looking” for something at her new apartment… he pulls out of thin air that she must be an unknown mule. Why? No explanation. A) No one would’ve guessed that. B) The biker would’ve asked where his shit was or forced her to take him to whatever he wanted…. Not just silently beat her ass. Nonsense.

“For the first time in a long time, I enjoy talking to someone about everyday mundane topics instead of the logistics of an undercover operation.”
^^^ Yet, every question ON PAGE is about his job. Does he miss it… why DEA… why undercover work… wasn’t he afraid. Writing is like whiplash.
I’m not looking for romance. She’s not looking for a good time.
^^^ So WTF spend every morning chitchatting over breakfast and coffee? Yet, more nonsense just to insert angst. This is the exhausting angst of doing one thing and thinking another only to moot that thought with some other random thought.
^^^ In addition to the BS plot and character actions, I’m drowning in the snail-pace writing style.
Boring. Nonsense. Horrid over telling of mundane and ZERO details on the actual plot. Just skips ahead two years after FMC forced to move and MMC goes undercover. From we can’t be together to ILY in 60 seconds flat with no explanation. White horse inner thoughts out the ass… he’s so hot, he’s my savior, blah blah. And, if the FMC says thank you one time… she says it 5,000.
I DNF’d after 50%, and getting that far was pure torture.
This book drew me in from page one. And when Nick and Savannah met, I was a little worried, because I'm not a fan of insta-love, but in this case, it was handled with pure perfection. The story had the perfect blend of angst and suspense, and kept you on the edge of your seat the entire time -- or in my case, kept me up till the wee hours of the morning. YAWN! If you're a fan of a good romantic suspense, then READ THIS! I highly recommend it!
I admit that I started this story and almost stopped. I wasn’t looking for a dark read and it looked like Nick was going down a deep, dark path I didn’t want to share. While what he experienced was probably worse than that, the story skipped to after his undercover stint was over (aka not including the gory details). Realizing this, I kept going and it didn’t take me any time at all to become lost in Savannah and Nick’s story…
Nick was recovering from that brutal assignment and Savannah was still trying to extricate herself from her own he** on earth, her last relationship. A chance meeting between them started off a slow and sweet friendship that quickly morphed into more under a trial of fire…
Nick was protective and supportive, everything I hoped Savannah would experience from a healthy, good relationship. Savannah suffered a lot but still looked for ways forward, including a future with Nick. There was humour in their relationship that balanced the seriousness of the situations they found themselves in and kept the story from becoming all negative (which it rightfully and easily could have been). With good friends (and a bestie of pure gold), Savannah was finding that life could be very good indeed…
A good mix of romance and suspense, I really enjoyed this spin-off story. I didn’t realize that’s what it was so now I am in search of Steele Security! ~Diane, 4 stars
I’d like to start off by admitting that the cover is what got me. Sexy, mysterious...how could I NOT l??
Fine Line was jam-packed with lots of action and suspense and plenty of passion. Nick and Savannah had a whirlwind love affair sparked by a moment in a coffee shop. A moment that brought out every protective instinct Nick has deep in his bones. After years of undercover work, he just wants to keep his head down and come to terms with the things he had to do in that time that went against every fiber of his being. His moral compass was tested and he no longer considers himself a good man because of it.
But seeing the beautiful but timid Savannah needing his help and protection and realizing NO ONE else was going to stop and intervene, he took it upon himself to step up and do the right thing.
That moment changed the course of their lives and brought about a connection that ultimately brought out the inner strength both characters needed. Savannah helps Nick come to terms with the last few years of his life and accept the goodness he still holds within himself and Nick gives Savannah the strength to break free from the chains that hold her to her past. To be that survivor she’s fought so hard to be.
Their love story was beautiful as well as eventful. No matter what outside influences tested their connection, they proved just how strong that connection was. Savannah’s faith in Nick NEVER wavered. Not even once. And that is was stuck with me most. So many romances get to the point where all is rosie until one little thing causes the heroine to doubt the Hero. That did not happen with these characters and is what I enjoyed most.
I’m excited for this series and look forward to enjoying more love connections for other characters that were introduced in this book.
I definitely picked the wrong book to start reading this new to me author. I guess I will try some other read. As this turned out to not be my kind of book.
I appreciate the topics in this book and plot line do sound interesting sadly the execution of the story felt really lacking.
There were a lot of
moments!!!
* I loved the beginning and all the details about heroine bad relationship and heroes undercover work but after a while or soon plot moves to future and we miss a lot of details....what happened when she moved? what hero had to do as an undercover cop in MC club?
* insta love happening between a woman who was just in a long time abusive relationship...It just seems unbelievable and unrealistic They both are two broken people in the need of a therapy
* after a while I just started skipping

This book was everything. This is the only author who can make me a blubbering mess while reading and love every minute of it. This is another amazing book by the evil A.D. Justice. Seriously I was hooked from page one. This author is an automatic one click author for me and this book was no different. This book was absolutely amazing, the characters, the words it all felt like you was apart of the story with these characters. Seriously loved this book. It kept you in suspense all the way through with no idea of what was coming next. Everyone needs to one click this one ASAP.
"He's my undercover hero, even if he can't see it."
5 Fine Line Stars!! I was pulled in from page one and couldn't put it down until I finished!
Nick is a DEA agent going undercover to infilterate The Devil's Dominions MC. And let's just say the things he sees doesn't sit well for him, but a job is a job. And well Nick isn't a quitter!
Savannah is an ER nurse, dealing with the wrath of an ex, named Butch, who by the way is a member of The Devil's Dominion. On a fateful night Butch demands she pack up everything she owns and follow him to Washington DC, she agrees but not without a fight, and I mean a fight. Cut to two years later and she's finally had enough of Butch, but he's not had enough of her.
After being verbally, physically and mentally abused by Butch for years, she's decided she's had enough, but Butch won't back down. In steps Nick, who refuses to let anything happen to a lady. A friendship and protectorship develops between Savannah and Nick, but can he keep Butch away from her forever?? Will Nick's tarnished reputation keep Savannah away??
I have to say, I've read other A.D books in the past but this one really just sucked me in! I was fully invested in Nick and Savannah's story. I will say if you have triggers with abuse, then this book isn't for you. The development of the characters and their stories is insanely good, I loved the heat and love that develops between these two! Great job A.D!!!
I loved this book!! And have wanted Nick's story its seems like forever and I finally got it!!! And it was so worth the wait!!! This story not only touches on some sensitive subject it does so in a way that shows such grace and poise that if anyone ever misunderstands abuse in any sense they just need to read this book. AD has written some amazing books I have loved each and every one of them but this one is something extra special. And I loved seeing some old friends again. I also want you guys to know this review doesn't do this book justice but you need to read and experience this book all on your own. So I highly recommend it!!! - By Tina
This book had me hooked. I couldn't get enough of Nick and Savannah. He was down on himself but Savannah was his light. Her past continues to haunt her and in saving her he becomes the man he's always meant to be.
And yet another new to me author. I’m finding a lot of authors, too many I often think. But then that’s a good problem to have. And when it’s a new author and I enjoyed the book even better. Which I did. Enjoy this book I mean.
This book has a longer than normal prologue that takes place several years earlier and involves both characters. Our hero DEA agent Nick is about to go undercover in a vicious MC club for who knows how long and at the start they are warning him what he’s in for. He figures he can handle it. Then a short time later he’s confronted full on with what the next stage in his life will be like and it’s going to be very ugly. At the same time we see Savannah, our heroine is in a very vicious relationship. She’s the girlfriend of a MC gang member and desperately wants away from him, but he threatens her and the lives of her friends and family. Then, just as she’s almost ready, he shows up and uproots her from all that she has known.. The book opens two years later. Nick’s cover was blown so he’s out of the MC club but not before there were multiple arrests and he’s preparing for the trials. He is really struggling because of all the stuff he had to watch and participate in while he was undercover and it’s really messed with his perception of himself. He’s not really living at the moment, mainly just working out and hanging out at a coffee house in his neighbourhood. It’s while there he watches as a young woman is assaulted and because everyone else just watches, he steps in to help the young woman. The young woman is Savannah of course. In the two years she’s escaped her abuser and moved and has made a new life for herself and has a good solid network of friends. But the ex has managed to find her at the coffee shop and this is the altercation that Nick walks into.
I just finished a book before this one where the hero was a soldier who rescued an abused woman and this one where the rescuer was in law enforcement and to be honest, this book worked better for me. Nick is exactly who Savannah needs. While she is trying to get out of it, she is trying to escape the victim and self-blame she places on herself and Nick is exactly who she needs. He sees her as brave and a survivor. After what she’s been through, she sees him as a real hero and accepts him completely. He’s very concerned that once she hears some of the things that went on while he was undercover, she will no longer see him as a hero. And Nick really needs her vision of him. Because of the things he’s witnessed and not been able to help in, he sees himself as almost as bad as the criminals he’s been ‘in bed’ with. As he slowly begins to see himself through her eyes and she slowly begins to accept that she does have the inner strength she didn’t think she possessed, we get to see how vital they are to each other.
When her ex catches her away from Nick and beats the crap out of her, Nick goes into full protection mode and almost instinctually knows what she needs. And later he gives her the time to work out other issues that arise that threaten to separate these two. The reader really gets that these two together are a complete unit.
Unlike a lot of books I read, this one has more subdued love scenes and it really worked with this story. There is enough intensity in the story that I appreciated the less intense love scenes. It doesn’t mean that I didn’t feel the attraction between Nick and Savannah, I really did feel it. This is the first book in a new series but I could tell even if I didn’t look it up, that there were previous connected books. I know this because while taking a break, I looked up other books by this author and even picked another one up that was related
Now that I have your attention, I want to say something others will probably boo at me for. Do not, I repeat do not go in blind. If you are like me and love interconnecting stories or characters that pop up from elsewhere, you must read The Steele Security books first. The love, camaraderie, and background is worth any grumbling you might do when you see there are 5 books in the series. Because I guarantee you will fall in love with the entire gang, I am begging you to read them first. I want you to see where Silas and the gang hail from. It will make you fall so much harder.
*steps off soapbox*
Okay, if you have ignored my above rant, I guess I will just have to live with that. *shakes head in dismay* You will not be lost in this story. I just wanted to show you some extra lovin'. *sigh* Yes, I will get over it. Give me a minute!
*clears throat again*
Fine Line starts at a crossroads. A life changing crossroad. Each direction represents a different kind of life. As time passes, regrets, shame, and self loathing take over. But a chance encounter changes everything, whether or not they are prepared for it.
Nick and Savannah are dancing along a line. Each has a decision to make...again. It's a Fine Line and the results are devastating.
Fine Line is the first book in a brand new series called Crossing Lines by A.D. Justice. I was not familiar with the author when I decided to read the book, but she won me over with Fine Line and I will read the rest of the series. The book contains some scenes where abuse happens but thankfully there was no rape, so beware for any triggers.
Nick and Savannah don't have one of the easiest's relationships, but I thought that they were great together. Nick never pressured her into doing something that she didn't want and her best interest was always in his mind. He was a great man for her. Savannah went through a lot, but to an extent, she doesn't allow that bring her down. Her relationship with Nick felt very organic and natural. The author did a good job with the two of them. Their road to the happily ever after is filled with obstacles and yet they managed to make it.
I have to say that I am a little disappointed that Silas won't be paired with the woman he showed some interest in this book. I do believe though that she could be hiding or something and end up been his lady (I can't remember the name and only Karen pops in my brain atm, but she is Savannah's friend from before I think). Or maybe she is no one. I guess I will find out in book 2.
DEA Agent Nick Tucker goes undercover to infiltrate the notorious Devils Dominions MC. Finally, after two years, he is able to bring them to book and they are awaiting trial. ER Nurse Savannah is dealing with an abusive ex-boyfriend, who also happens to be part of the Devils Dominion MC. Savannah is trying to fly under the radar so Butch can’t find her. But her luck runs out while sitting in a coffee shop one day, he finds her. He manhandles her and becomes abusive towards her, Nick steps in to protect her. Nick and Savannah form a friendship while both can’t deny the attraction they feel for one another. When Savannah lands up on his doorstep severally beaten, he vows to get revenge on Butch. It seems that Butch is very manipulative and has ulterior motives for Savannah. Can Nick protect her and keep her safe? Can Savannah give her heart to Nick or has Butch caused too much harm. The story has plenty of suspense and plot twists. The character development is good and you can relate to them. Secondary characters play a huge part and I will be looking forward to reading about Silas. Overall a well-paced story, with plenty of rising climax to keep you enthralled. Fine Line by AD Justice is the first book in the Crossing Lines series and OMGGGGGGG it was phenomenal! This story was everything I thought it would be and so much more. I have been a long time fan of Ms. Justice and I seriously devour everything she writes. The way she is able to weave a tale and make you feel everything is absolutely one of my favorite things about her books. Fine Line is full of suspense, heartache, and forgiveness. I could not put it down.
Savannah Fields honestly made my heart ACHE!!! Her perseverance was admirable even with everything she's gone through. She is an ER nurse with an ex who won't leave her alone. She is battered and bruised but doesn’t know if she’ll be able to finally get her ex to stay away for good. So when an accidental encounter with a DEA agent happens, she’s extremely weary. But as Nick proves how trustworthy he is, Savannah is dealt another horrible blow...
DEA Special Agent Nick Tucker is a extraordinary character. He is so selfless and strong and is very dedicated to putting the bad guys away. He is so tired and broken from seeing horrible things in his undercover work and is looking forward to it being over. When he meets Savannah, his protective nature kicks in and he can’t turn away. But will he be able to not only do his job but protect Savannah too?
I loved this story so much! It was well written and the characters literally stole my heart. I am so excited to see where this series goes next! Highly recommend reading it!
A.D. Justice has done it again! Somehow she manages to give you the most amazing love story wrapped up with a no holds barred suspense thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat from the very beginning. Nick Tucker has had a few cameos in previous books and in Fine Line we finally get to know him. Getting a glimpse of his undercover stint and the in-depth dive into who he really is, watching him grow as he protected and fell for Savannah was all it took to fall head over heels for him. Seriously, A.D. can write a leading man like no one else! And, Savannah! Oh how every woman can relate. She has a past, it’s filled with pain, but she’s so strong and giving you can’t help but love her! Theirs is a story like no other. The extra of this book was the cameos, including a longer one with Silas (don’t know who he is? Read The Steele Security series. You won’t be sorry). Silas has a great supporting role in Nick and Savannah’s story which ended with a lead-in/teaser to the next book, which is Silas’ story. I can already tell this is going to be another phenomenal series!!
This is one amazing story that had me on pins and needles because I just had to know what Savannah and Nick were going to do and what they were going to go through. Nick is the ALPHA male that every woman wants and needs in their life and Savannah poor Savannah she is a nurse and just wants to help people out but she gets in a bad relationship and the man just won't leave her alone.
All Nick wanted was a cup of coffee and to be alone. He has been undercover for a while and he is tired of the life he had to live. So he just wants a cup of coffee but when he walks into the shop he sees a woman getting harassed and no one is doing a damn thing to stop the guy bothering the woman. SO Nick being the protector he is steps in and saves her.
Then a few days later Savannah tracks him down and asks for his help. He can't refuse her and decides to help but he never knew what he was getting into because now his heart is on the line and he isn't sure what he will do about that.
When a simple trip to the local coffee shop turns into saving a woman's life, Nick Turner and Savannah Fields' lives will never be the sane. After spending years undercover in a notorious MC club Nick has witnessed things that would make weaker men run. After years on the run Savannah Fields finally has her life back. That is until the past she has been running from catches up with her. What they don't realize is that they ha e one thing in common and it won't stop until they're both dead. This book is so good. It has the perfect amount of suspense and romance in it. This is my first book by A.D. Justice and it certainly won't be my last.
Fine Line by A.D. Justice is book One in the Crossing Lines Series. This is the story of Savannah Fields and Nick Tucker. Nick is a DEA agent but has been working undercover for the last few years in a MC Club where he seen and done things that have messed with his mind. When he is trying to adjust to his old life again he walks into a coffee shop where he meets Savannah who needs his help. Savannah has been running for her life from a old boyfriend who is in that MC Club. Now he is back to get her and Nick might be the only one that can save her. Nick is out to protect Savannah but in turn she help save him from himself. Enjoyed their story and the secondary characters.
As always A.D Justice has written a book that will wrap around your heart. We get it all with this book. We get a romance, lots of action and the suspense that we all love.
Nick never thought walking into a coffee shop would turn into saving a woman’s life. After being deep undercover, he’s just trying to forget everything he had done. Everything changes in that one moment.
You will be flipping the pages to get to the end of this book. I can’t wait for more in this series.
Unfortunately Savannah is in a very abusive relationship with Butch and he’s in a motorcycle gang The Devil’s Dominion. Nick is a special agent undercover in The Devil’s Dominion. Will Nick be Savannah’s hero and risk his life? Or will everything just explode and turn on Nick ? Amazing story about abuse and the effect it has. Plus Nick a man who is just living .. Two people who need each other more than they know. 5/5 stars
Nick and Savannah's story was good and it wasn't that I didn't enjoy it. It's more to do with going in blind (which I do a lot). Let me explain. I noticed this book was first in a series and it also indicated at the MC genre. I thought I'd take a chance and dive in, having not read anything from this author before. All the way through, I kept thinking something was missing. There seemed to be so much more to Nick's story that I didn't know and wouldn't be made clear while reading Fine Line. It wasn't until I got to the end of the book, I found out there were additional stories, set previously to this one. It was a little disappointing. I also thought this was an MC book, but there is very little connection. It's more of a love story, which I did enjoy. Savannah comes out of an abusive relationship (at this point, please note, there is nothing in here that I would consider a trigger. The abuse is touched upon but not graphic) and it's her struggle to get over it and make a new life for herself with another love. It was an enjoyable read, but I wish I'd know about the previous books first (that's more on me than anyone else), but now I know, I can read more from this author and catch up fully on Nick's background. My only advice - READ THE PREVIOUS BOOKS BEFORE THIS ONE!
One moment can change the course of your life and for Nick and Savannah it's a chance meeting in a coffee shop when he comes to her rescue.
Nick is a DEA agent who is 'recovering' from a long undercover operation with a notorious MC. Savannah is putting her life back together after finally escaping an abusive relationship. Whilst they should probably run from each other the connection they have is undeniable.
The author did a good job of marrying the love story between the main characters and the elements of danger throughout the story. I wished I'd read The Steele Security books because the guys we meet from those books are very interesting.
Parts of me enjoyed this story and others made me roll my eyes at the cheesiness of the story. I think that was my frustration, the cliche parts of the story because it started out so good that it was unexpected.
I wanted to like Nick and Savannah more but the over the top love after such a short time, despite years of abuse, and then the perfect happy ending with "gifts" was hard to handle. It's a shame because the foundation of the story was there to really flesh this out to be MORE.
I still appreciate the author and her hard work. This story just wasn't for me no matter how much I wanted it to be.
