This is an absolute must-read for every Muslim woman who is considering a career, whether in a corporate work force, in academia, from home, or in any number of non-conventional fields.

Beyond the Kitchen begins with a look at Muslim women's labor (paid and unpaid) in various fields from the beginning of Islamic history, including the wives of RasulAllah and his female Companions.
Essentially a composition of interviews with forty two Muslim women of incredibly diverse backgrounds, Huda takes an honest look at the reality of what Muslim women will face in pursuit of different careers. She notes the challenges that visibly Muslim women will inevitably experience, but also includes encouraging and positive stories and experiences. She addresses things like navigating mixed gender interactions, environments with alcohol, unIslamic holidays, wearing hijab, and much more. She also touches on the realities of opposition within Muslim families and communities towards women who seek certain career paths, or in areas that are culturally frowned upon.

This absolutely amazing book cannot be recommended enough! 10/10 stars 🌟
