She’s new in town—and he’s ready to get out of town. Love will help them meet in the middle. AVA Moving to this small town is my chance at a new life. I’m ready to make a difference by providing mental health services to rural parts of Colorado. The last thing I need is a messy romance before I even get settled in. But when the heat in my apartment fails, and a blizzard is bearing down, Grant comes to my rescue. He’s perfect—but can I risk the distraction of falling for him? GRANT The trouble with small towns is that everybody makes your business their business. As a bartender, I’ve had to stop a few guys from trying to take advantage of ladies—and some folks in town didn’t take kindly to that. Which is why I’m ready to leave Pine River in the rearview—for good. Then I meet Ava, and everything changes. She makes me feel things I’ve never felt before. She makes me want to stay.
Love in the Mountains is a series of short and steamy standalone romances. Every book is packed full of rugged mountain men finding their perfect curvy women, breathtaking mountain scenery, and happily ever afters. Each story has a guaranteed HEA, NO cliffhangers, and NO cheating.
Ava Woodley has just moved in to her new apartment building in Pine River, Colorado, after her break-up with her cheating fiancé. She loves the mountains and nearby is a luxury ski resort. The whole town looks like a postcard, and this is her new start. She will be offering behavioral mental health services as a therapist employed by the Behavioral Health division of Colorado Health since many have no access to that in the small mountain town. It is clear her landlady Mrs. Pryce wants to pry for more information about her and feels the town doesn’t need her kind of help, but she is tired and needs to unload the car as she excuses herself from the conversation.
Grant sees that a big storm is on its way. He stocked up on supplies for the Pine Mountain Ski Resort and extra liquor. When a guest can’t ski, they drink, right? Jimmy Smith stops him on the sidewalk to ask about his recovery from last weekend. A couple of locals had come into the bar where he is the bartender at the resort. They bothered some female guests and tried to slip something into their drinks. He took both guys outside and got into a fistfight. The Sheriff dealt with all of them. Although Grant thinks big cities are “too busy” and too loud for him, small town gossips love to snoop in your business where you don’t want them to be. He is seriously thinking of moving away.
When Ava finds she has no heat in her apartment and the landlady has shut off her phone, she is relieved when Grant comes to her rescue and takes her to the lodge where he has numbers she can call for fixing the heat problem. He seems like everything she would want in her life, but she may only be here 6 months if the job fails. And she doesn’t want the gossips to start spreading her private life for discussion. Will she change her mind as they get to know each other better? Will he change his mind about leaving if he is ready to make a life with Ava?
This was a sweet and touching story of Ava and Grant. Grant is the kind of guy who doesn’t stay in one place too long, and he’s pretty much decided it’s time to leave Pine River. That all changes when he meets Ava, the new therapist in town who’s love life could use a huge dose of said therapy. They both fall hard for each other, thanks to a huge blizzard (must be a love potion swirling in that sucker lol). Unfortunately, some issues with the locals tip Grant’s fight or flight response, and he decides he has to leave. Will his growing love for Ava be enough to keep him in Pine River, or will she be the next one on his long list of people he doesn’t let close enough to know him? I truly enjoyed the mix of romance, deep emotion, and passion that this shorter story had to offer. If you’ve got about an hour, you can discover all of that, right now!

Ava moves to a new town to start a new life. She moves to Pine River and finds that people aren't so happy to have a therapist in town messing in their business. But small town people know your business better than you do sometimes. Ava meets Grant when she's trying to get ahold of her landlord because she has no heat and there is a blizzard on its way. Grant tells her he has to go back to the Lodge and they have internet and he'll help her find an electrician. There is an instant connection between these two and Ava falls really hard. Will Grant find that he wants to stay and make a life with Ava or is he going to run away again and start somewhere else? First book I've read from this author. I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. This is a short, sweet, instant attraction story. Ava and Grant meet when she moves to town and he is wanting to get out. She is concerned about her practice. He is tired of small town life and politics. When their worlds collide, they both will have to adjust their future plans. They have a few obstacles to get past but the future looks better together

Well Grant is from the small town and wants to get out. Ava is coming to the small town. They meet and it is an instant attraction. This is a short story and it is just a great story. Will Grant and Ava be able to work it out? Ava is a strong woman and she is just a very likeable character, and Grant well he is strong and helpful and very gentlemanly. This is just a great story that flows really well. This is a very entertaining story.

I liked the premise of this storyline but thought it was too rushed in how easily the main characters change their minds. Ava and Grant have a good connection, but both seem to be on the verge of second guessing themselves throughout the entire book. Would have loved to see the development a bit further.
