Good, well written travel adventure. Long Beach-Yuma by "canoe". Quick reading simply because story is so well told.

I've met the author in her current life ... wife, mother, hospitality ambassador, advocate, UMC pastor ... and there was something about her that intrigued me to learn more about how she could do all the amazing things she does. Well, now I know. It's the shear size of her spirit. Spirit of adventure, spirit of justice, spirit of learning. Valerie takes us along on her journey navigating along the Baja Peninsula in a custom-made kayak with some meager supplies her partner, Verlen Kruger. She was an avid kayaker prior to the trip, but nothing would have prepared her for the journey and transformation that she underwent. She learned about herself, made some treasured friendships and laid the foundation for her amazing current life. She took a risk, had some doubts but kept on moving! Priceless inspiration!
