For this book I liked how the editor had the fairy tale and the poem side by side so you can better compare them to Richard Doyle’s art. I preferred Andrew Lang’s story to William Allingham’s poem, though both were good, yet clunky.

In Fairyland: A Series of Pictures from Elf-World, artwork by Richard Doyle illustrating The Princess Nobody: A Tale of Fairyland by Andrew Lang which is presented side by side with a fairy poem by William Allingham.

I am always down for some fairytales and The Princess Nobody is just an absolutely classic style of fairytale. Thumbelina/Rumplestiltskin birth story, magic mushrooms, a fairy godmother, an evil dwarf, and a spell to turn a funny looking little fairy into a hunk. A+

I snagged this at Old Post Antiques in Chepachet, RI.

Fun fact: Richard Doyle almost illustrated Alice in Wonderland.
