I really liked this novel. In these pages, a grade school boy battles bullies on the playground at school and battles nightmares in the land of dreams at night. The nightmares hold his sister's real life in the balance and the boy has to venture into the world of dreams at night in order to save her. This book addresses the real world issue of bullying and provides a very entertaining world of fantasy adventure. I found it to be well-written and engaging. Parents need not worry about language or graphic violence. The playground fights and fantasy battles in the dreamland are appropriate for young readers. This book is aimed at children (grade 5 and up) but I found it quite entertaining as a adult.

What a fantastic story! From the moment I started reading I fell in love with this book. Even though it’s marketed for children, there is so much whimsy and fluid storytelling makes this a thoroughly enjoyable read even for adults. It had strong tones of the movie Labyrinth to it, which was great.

Orson is a boy who has vivid dreams. He ventures into a realm called “The Dreamlands” when he sleeps. A once ordinary boy comes to realize just how important and extraordinary he is.

Orson encounters so much action and adventure, sometimes exciting, sometimes scary, that this will easily become one of your child’s favorite books.

I read this through KU but I’m going to buy the print book for my nieces and nephews. Highly recommend this book, it’s so good!

Looking for a good story for a Middle Grade reader? Interested in the world of dreams?
Dreamshaper is a great story about a boy named Orson who is forced to deal with Nightmares coming into his world. It's a great fantasy story for Middle Grade readers who want to dive into an interesting world, fully of different characters!
