This colorful little picture book offers a tiny peek into Indian village life. A happy family rejoices in the prospect of a home-cooked meal only to be thwarted by two freeloading beggars. They manage to face the guzzling of their meal with humor, illustrating an unusual equanimity at the loss. It’s a charming little book and the bright and cheerful watercolor illustrations lend emphasize the ebullient nature of this native story from Kashmir.
