When former Texas Ranger Bodie finds young Joey Nelson after his parents have been butchered on their homestead by a Sioux raiding party, he takes him to widow Cassidy and her daughter Ruth. when he finds that John Brandon, greedy and unscrupulous owner of the adjoining Box T Ranch, is set on forcing the Cassidys off their homestead, Bodie takes a hand. Before he finally gets the better of Brandon, he has to deal with Brandon's hired killers and the kidnapping of Ruth and Joey.
Not so bad as so many British-written Westerns, but very dull. Lots of things happen, but usually they are described later, afterward, by one character or another to some one or some group. Author Irwin could have avoided that by not writing in the first person and just telling the story. He did at least avoid the purplish prose, but he also avoided any excitement or even interest.
