Despite a decade apart, this isn't the reunion Mandy Manchester expected! She thought she'd put high school sweetheart Nolan Briggs behind her. Now he's back…and the pararescue jumper literally sweeps her off her feet. He's ready and willing to rekindle what they once shared. Mandy, though, isn't prepared to put her heart at risk. He left her before—she won't trust him again. Can Nolan teach this grounded girl to take a leap of faith?

I absolutely loved this book the characters were great! The setting was brilliant! I love how this all turn out.
A friend sent me this book after she'd read it. I believe I've read this author before and usually like her books.
The main characters are Mandy (a doctor-in-training) and Nolan (a parajumper). They were childhood sweethearts whose career desires separated them geographically. Mandy's mother made sure that Nolan's attempts to contact Mandy did not succeed.
The main characters seem well fleshed out. There are too many of Nolan's PJ team for me to remember who was who and who was with whom and which kids belonged to which couple. I've not read other books in this sub-series, perhaps if I had it wouldn't have been so confusing.
Mandy Manchester is now a doctor back in Refuge. She is caught in a bridge collapse where she helps children escape a bus. Then the pararescue men show up to help them off the bridge and the leader is her old high school sweetheart Nolan Briggs. Will she be able to move past their old relationship or will he be able to convince her to give him another chance? Will she be able to move past the trauma of the bridge collapse to finish her studies? A good read.
A Soldier’s Reunion by Cheryl Wyatt is the next book in the Wings of Refuge series. In this story, Mandy Manchester and Nolan Briggs were high school sweethearts who are reunited after a decade apart when there is a tragic bridge collapse. Mandy is a physician who was on the bridge when it collapsed and Nolan is a pararescue jumper who arrives on the scene to rescue survivors. Nolan is determined to win Mandy’s heart again, but that is proving to be very difficult. Mandy’s heart was broken by Nolan ten years ago and in that time she has turned her back on God, just when Nolan has found God. Nolan must trust God to bring Mandy back to him and back to God all while she is dealing with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and her mother who is ill. It seems like an impossible situation, but God can handle the things that look impossible to us.
I am rapidly becoming a fan of Cheryl Wyatt’s work. A Soldier’s Reunion is one of those books that is simply a joy to read. I love the characters and the town of Refuge where they live. I also enjoy seeing familiar characters who have been present in the previous Wings of Refuge books. Cheryl Wyatt really seems to know what her readers want, and she has certainly delivered in this book. This book has a very pleasant romantic element, but it’s the spiritual element that really amazed me. Seeing a character go through pain so terrible that they turn their back on God is something that many people experience and many people can relate to. Cheryl has written this story so well and I truly loved every heartfelt moment of it. So, go get your copy of A Soldier’s Reunion, throw it in your beach bag, and enjoy!
I LOVE Cheryl Wyatt's Wings Of Refuge series, about the pararescue jumpers....And 'A Soldier's Reunion' was NO EXCEPTION! LOVED Nolan Briggs, as a do all the guys. (Now I wanna read Vince's story.) Had a hard time liking Dr. Mandy Manchester aka by Nolan as 'Manda Panda (SO CUTE by the way.) Until the end. I guess because I LOVED Nolan SO MUCH and just wanted her to give the poor guy a break! LOL! LOVED Miss Ivy and the 2 Saint Bernards! :-) LOVED the drama. And the beginning was VERY dramatic! LOVED seeing Ben, Amelia, and little Reece again, as well as ALL the other guys on the pararescue team! :-)
plot despite a decade apart this isn't the reunion mandy manchester excepted she thought she'd put high school sweetheart nolan briggs behind her now he's back and the pararescue jumper literally sweeps her offf her feet he's ready and willing to rekindle what they once shared mandy though isn't prepared to put her heart at risk he left her before she won't trust him again can nolan teach this grounded girl to take a leap of faith
This book is another Love Inspired collection, obviously! The main character's nickname is the same as mine, "Manda Panda", so that is one of the reasons I decided to read it. This book is taking me longer to read, because it's an old relationship being rekindled and is dragging itself out! I have to quit reading it at types because the plot is so depressing! I don't want to go into details, but the bridge on the cover has a lot to do with the plot in more than one way!
I liked the story line, but it was too "preachy." The references to God were a little over the top, and took away from the story. It also felt like the author did not provide closure for the mother's story.
Mandy & Nolan meet after 10 years on Refuge bridge as it collapses. He is a paratrooper and she is training to be a doctor. Nolan now knows the Lord, but Mandy has pushed Him away. Can they meet back on solid ground?
