Ol' Skullface sings again! Our charming Mr Terror - the cursed, undead, rotting, immortal entrepreneur - is back in action! Brutally ripping off his own limbs and borrowing other people's body parts comes in so very handy for the lucrative purposes of assassination, espionage, and other sticky situations.
A decent-enough second volume of the adventures of Marvel's decomposing detective Mr. Terror. Writer David Lapham has fun with Terror and his partner Mrs. Primo, but the four-issue size of the tale doesn't give him a lot of time to flesh out the villains or make the plot (which involves a massive threat) feel properly epic. Most of the art by Koi Turnbull is good, but it looks like there was a substitute artist at the end of issue #3 whose style was a jarring (and unwelcome) change.
I'm a fan of the David Lapham's first crack at Terror, Inc, but found this one to be a slog to get through. The story is pretty slight and just meanders from one plot point to the next without any real purpose, and the artwork by Koi Turnball is extremely uneven. There's some great panels here, and some others that are truly dreadful. It doesn't help that two lesser artists step in to lend a hand. I'd certainly be willing to read more adventures of Mr. Terror but Apocalypse Soon just wasn't for me.
