Like most Elephantmen books, the plot remains a solid 3, kind of paint-by-numbers, but these books have always been about the artist for me. Ladronn, Moritat, and here, Marian Churchland. And her art is well worth the price of admission. The softness of her line & her colorful, watery palette work well in contrast with the grim, rainy noir look that Elephantmen usually favors. You don't need to be a follower of the ongoing story to appreciate this, I think there's plenty of context given. Word of warning, Sahara's story is particularly heavy & deals with her brutal childhood trauma in no uncertain terms.
This was okay but there isn't any new material except for a few new pages but other than that this trade is just a compilation of stories focusing on all of the major female characters. So if you are already collecting the volumes of Elephantmen then just skip this as you probably already have the stories.
