Book One in the Brotherhood Duet!

A single day at Draven Preparatory Academy and she's already made enemies. They call themselves 'The Brotherhood.'

Carter, Holden, Captain, and Ellis rule the school like gods while their fathers rule the city. But Angel Valentino has never been one to take orders blindly. After her father, one of the most feared and infamous mobsters on the East Coast sends her to Seaside California, Angel finds herself entangled in a web of love, lies, death, and darkness.

Being a Brother comes with a heavy price and an unshakable legacy that spans generations. They don't like this baffling new girl who threatens to turn their world inside out. She might just be the most beautiful, most darkly alluring girl any of them have ever laid eyes on, with a heart of steel and intellect well beyond her years, but Angel has secrets too... and in their world, secrets get you This is a standalone RH title in which one woman has multiple love interests and does not have to choose. 18+ due to graphic sexual and violent situations and strong language. Be advised that this book contains situations that can be possibly triggering for some readers.

Hey everyone! I'm K.M. Raya and I write books! Primarily romance, paranormal, YA, mafia, fantasy and Reverse Harem.

I started writing in high school for the school paper, and after that it was a whirlwind. Most of my college years were spent creating stories and blogs and bringing my imagination to life so that one day I could share them with you all. I live in California with my amazingly supportive husband and my two crazy cats, who both definitely proofread everything I write. I spend most of my free time watching B movie horror flicks, crime dramas and any vampire TV show I can find. I'm a lover of fantasy, swoon worthy book boyfriends and suffer from a serious case of wanderlust that can only be cured by reading dozens of books a year.

Thanks a bunch for giving me a follow. I hope you enjoy my worlds and all my little creations. You can find my books on Amazon Kindle, Barnes and Noble, or if you want, you can follow my Facebook, Instagram and right here on Goodreads!

*mild spoilers*

you know this wasn't bad. i was a bit worried for the torture scene cause everyone talked about it, but i didn't care about that as much as i did about how WEAK the main heroine was.
she would always talk about how she's 'so tough' and 'trained in self defence' and 'can easily get away from the boys' when they tackled her or whatever, but she got kidnapped, not once, not twice, but THREE times and could never get away!! for all her tough talking, she got tortured twice and almost hurt the third time, before she was saved! she was a bit of a fail of a 'dangerous, badass' heroine.

other than that, this book was pretty good and entertaining for me. thanks to amazon kindle and the author for the free copy!

Angel was a pretty tough girl and a decent mc. She was a mafia princess so she had to be. She boasted about being raised tough and knew how to defend herself
She had some bad things happen to her so she made sure to take it upon herself to never let it happen again.

The Brothers kinds gave me whiplash - they like her, they hate her, they like her, they hate her. They want to hurt her, they want to screw her, hurt her, screw her... It was like a never ending cycle. They gave me some HOT whiplash though... cause boy, they were smooth talkers and oh so tempting.

NOT. ENOUGH. GROVEL. AT. ALL!!!!!

There was mystery and deceit. Lots of twists and turns. The book was a bit short and the end felt a tad rushed. The book ended on a decent cliffhanger so I'll be starting on book 2 to see how the duet concludes. I'm ready for her to get friendly with more than just one guy at a time. Bring it on!

So, just wow!

I finished this book a few days ago and I’ve had to sit and think about how I would rate it. I’ll explain why.
I loved this book, a RH Bully romance which is my kindle crack.
It hooked me from the first page and I literally read it in one sitting. I couldn’t put it down because it was so intriguing and I loved the characters.

So why didn’t I give it 5 stars I hear you asking.
Well...
without giving away spoilers, there is a scene in this book that isn’t for the faint hearted. A scene that had my heart in my mouth and made me really mad. I can understand why the author did it, but for me it made the guys in this story completely unredeemable in my eyes. How could the heroine fall for them after they did that to her? And she wasn’t even that pissed about it.

Angel was kick ass and I loved that. She was a mob daughter and took no shit from anyone. I loved her character and how loyal she was but omg did she forgive those guys way too quickly!!

It was a good book and I’m really hoping there will be another book in the series after that ending but just beware this book is graphic in violence and may have some triggers.

Overall I enjoyed the book. It was a little slow on the uptake, and there were just a little bit few too many details when describing the area, the forest excetera. Okay we get it the trees of green. The grass is green. There's shadows. We get it. There's no need to go into a two-page long story about it.

Overall, the story was good as I said but again there were a few things that kind of pissed me off.

The author made the girl out to seem extremely easy. Basically there was no actual work for her affections. And that kind of threw me. I didn't expect the girl to be so, what's a good word for it without seeming rude? Loose.

Given the fact that I enjoy reverse harem books, I'm like the last person to talk about a female being extremely open, yes huge pun intended, but the reason that I like the stories is because of the individual relationships that grow from these attractions. And how they work as a unit. Other than that last seen, there was no unit working LOL.

The story has potential and that is why I'm going to read the second book but, I do wish there was more I don't know, what's the word that I'm looking for? I'm sure many of you know. Something like 6 to your bones. Or it sticks to your soul. Binding maybe?

Anyway it got my attention enough that I'm going to read the rest of it.

One more thing that I had a problem with, she's too much of the victim. Yeah she's got some guts to her but with these four guys she is a massive victim. She's weak.

My opinion. Reading is subjective. You may like this one. Good luck.

There is nothing likable or relatable about Angel. I love RH bully books, but this one had no chemistry. I don’t think the heroes even liked her. They all just think she was ‘hot’. UGH.

I noticed the name Captain appears in a few RH stories lately. Not sure what that is all about.

The heroine spoke about how she knew how to fight because of all the training she received living under her father's roof, but she was WEAK and never used any of her knowledge about fighting.

I have read many reviews that complain that there s repetition about poor girl who is sent to a rich academy and meets rich, gorgeous guys that are bullies. These same reviewers wish that there were RH stories where there was a rich girl instead of a poor heroine. Well here you go, but the RICH heroine is WEAK and an IDIOT. The guys torture her and she forgives them within a week. A wink and a smile and all is forgiven. BY THE WAY, I switched it up and read this rich heroine RH book and I WANT the poor girl who goes to a rich academy and meets some rich guys story over this nonsense.

I love DARK RH stories, but this has to be one of the most frustrating one I have ever read.

There were words about feelings, but I never felt any chemistry.

I am giving up on mafia princess books. They all talk a big game, but that is all it is...TALK.

*spoilers*

Angel is physically tortured to the point where she should have lasting scars ... and she shrugs it off and goes back after a week to the 4 boys who had this done to her? Up until this point, I was not enthralled but willing to continue because the rape scene/aftermath was well written. I finished this book (crap ending too) but it was a waste of my time.

Author fail. If you like the RH genre, pass on this book.

Angel

Rollercoaster ride. So many emotions from hate to loved this book. Angel was ridiculously strong, and when s**** hit the fan on multiple accusations she did it with her chin held high. I loved her for this, hated at times how forgiving she was, but then again her life was never easy so I guess as much as she hated the lifestyle and her own papa, she herself would fall for bad men and let them get away with hurting her some many times. I hope this isn't the end! If love to read more on the brothers and angel

Hot dang!

This book is twisted. In such a delicious, creepy, heart breaking, heart stopping weird way. I do enjoy these types of books alot. This one really got me. The torture she endures. Its frightening, but the love they finally realize they have for her fixed it all.

Angel is such a strong character that lets herself cry when shes been taught to not to show emotion. The boys are dreamy in their own cruel ways.

Definitely a good bully romance. Oh and best part? THE GIRL HAS DARK HAIR AND BROWN EYES!!!! YAY!

Dominate Angel

I'm back again for another amazing read bu K.M. Raya. She did not disappoint me. What really did this one for me was Angel. Despite going through her trauma, she did not let it define her, it made her fierce. She stood up to to her harem men. I want more heriones like her in bully romances. So.many twists, betrayals, I have to read the next book

This book grabbed me from the very first chapter. The heroine, Angel, is quite the badass and emotionally unbreakable. She has been through so much and the fact that she still has her s**t together shows so much strength. The ‘brothers’ were such a**holes! Uugh.

This book had so much potential to being a series. I’m 50/50 on it because I was happy not to have to wait for another book but the characters and story had so much potential to being developed even more.

All in all, it was well written and I devoured the book in one seating. I just wish there was an epilogue! That’s one of my favorite places parts of books and would have loved to learn more about their adventures post all the crazy s**t.

I finally found a Author that actually has a strong/badass FMC! Wish there were more out there. I absolutely loved this book. I was hooked right from the beginning. Angel was awesome! And I Love all 4 Hero’s. Yummy! yummy! The only problem I had with this book was, it was to rushed. I would have loved more character growth. Plus I would’ve liked to see Angel put up more of a fight for what the hero’s did to her and not forgive them so quickly and for those reasons is why I only gave this book a 4 star and not a 5 star. I definitely would recommend this book tho. I do hope the author continues this series. I want more of Angel, Ellis, Captain, Holden and Carter!

DNF @ 94%

The book was fine, good even until the last few chapters rolled around. They physically tortured her and then she is back with them a week later? What the hell! Don't get me wrong I love a dark bully reverse harem but she didn't even care if they apologized or not to her after permanently scarring her body. This sounds like an abusive relationship, not an HEA. Sorry but I couldn't read on after that.

Okay at first...but went downhill

I thought I was reading about a kick ass mafia girl. Except it turned into a weak hormonal type of girl. She was mistreated badly by all the guys then the next thing she is screwing them right after. The h was gullible and weak. Lost interest after the physical abuse since the h just let it slide. Not bad ass for sure. Couldn't connect with the characters. Totally agree with the other lower rating reviews.

I really really enjoyed this one! The heroine is one tough cookie and I loved it. The boys are not just the typical bullies and I was wondering who will be the first to win her ...body :)
The mafia plot was very good implemented in the story. I like it that the girl is the dangerous and the strong one. Can`t wait to see what will happen next.
Definitely 5 well deserved stars. Enjiy!

Did Not Finish

—» Rating: DNF

Angel (The Brotherhood #1) by L.M. Raya is a dark mafia bully romance.

—» Characters:
Our heroine Angel is presented to us as a badass—the result of growing up the daughter of the New York Mafia’s Capo Famiglia. Despite having the structure in place to support this character trait, the actions of the character didn’t back up this claim. She didn’t act like an intelligent, skilled, capable, strong, damaged Mafia daughter. Sure she can shoot a gun, but that doesn’t make her a badass. The vibe I get from her is a misplaced sense of superiority. As for the four love interests, I just can’t seem to care about them. Between the five of them, my combined lack of interests makes it difficult to become invested in the story.

—» Plot:
Capo Famiglia sends his daughter to an academy across the country under the pretense of her safety. Only she gets there and it seems the school and town are run by an organization composed of cruel wealthy men, who are grooming their sons to take over. Our heroine of course becomes mixed up with them because despite the terrible way they treat her, she can’t resist their sexy looks. I keep waiting for the story to provide some sort of breadcrumb to keep my interest, but I’m 55% of the way in and the plot has offered me no such thing.

—» Writing:
The writing itself isn’t bad, but the phrase “something about” can not be used as a substitute when it comes to explaining a character’s feelings. It is not an explanation, and for it to be the foundation of the main characters’ attraction, the author can’t expect me to become invested in their relationships. The term cop out comes to mind.

❝He looks so striking like this. I don’t know what it is, but something about seeing this prim and proper guy lose his cool makes me wild.❞

❝If he had just been any other guy, I could finesse my way right out of the conversation, but something about Ellis just draws me in and makes me turn into a pile of goo.❞

Something about her is undeniably dangerous. I like dangerous.❞

❝Looking at her now with new eyes, something about her mob ties makes her so much sexier and I’m a sick fucker for thinking it.❞

—» Tropes:
•Heroine’s father is a mafia leader
•Heroine is the new girl
•Heroes are the kings of the school
•Heroine and Heroes fathers are the bad guys
•Academy Romance
•Bully-Romance—Within the first half of the book the hero's water-board the heroine.
•Heroine thinks she’s badass
•Enemies-to-Lovers—There is no chemistry between the heroine and love interests like you’d expect
•Insta-lust—it’s mightily convenient that the heroine just so happens to only be attracted to the heros, and they to her. Has nothing to do with their personalities or interactions.

—» My Reading Pace:
Despite my lack of interest by the third chapter, I soldiered through hoping it got better. It didn’t, and at 55% I have no expectations of the story improving. So for now I’m leaving it as a DNF. I may pick it up again at a later date, but I doubt it.

Her horns hold her halo up

This little mafia princess want raised in a fairytale with knights and dragons; but with guns, torture, and blood, all under her Papa's watchful eye. So when this cold, jaded killer is finally given the opportunity to across the country, away from her father and his enemies in order to finish school, she takes it. A new start, where she isn't mafia royalty; a place where she can fly under the radar, away from organized crime or she thought.

The Brotherhood rules this county and their heirs rule the school. It only takes Angel parking her car on campus before she is on their 'hit list'. So much for lying low!?! Before the day is through she will have a run-in with all of the heirs and begins a story of betrayal, secrets, love, intrigue, and lies.

It's a bully RH romance that features a though FMC who doesn't take any sh*t from the men around her. She's fierce, loyal, and not to be played with. It was nice reading about someone who didn't complain and want a damsel-in-distress. This book can have triggers in it for some people. There is a lot of violence, torture, graphic scenes, and rape (flashback). It's still an great dark read

Read in a day...

Wow, just wow. When I got this book I didn't expect it to be a Mob Boss novel. Had I known, I probably would not have purchased it. Those kind of books do not intrigue me.
I was captivated by the blurb. My first impression was this isn't appropriate for a YA novel, realizing this is probably an NA. All the main characters are teens, taking place mainly at a high school academy, and I half expected there to be a little magic or paranormal, but there wasn't any; yet the author managed to keep me turning the pages.

This book does have graphic, and racy scenes. Cringe worthy scenes, but nothing that you wouldn't already see in an Al Capone movie. If you're looking from a mobster book perspective, it works.

The story line was interesting, but this book needed to be more fleshed out. Things just kind of happened all willy-nilly and it was distracting. Some things felt almost too detailed, like how we are told how many rings a character is wearing or what color his or her clothes are, while a lot of other things just felt too vague, like why in the world do they wear those animal masks and where did Finley go?? I mean, c'mon! I needed more information that would have furthered the plot...not descriptions of insignificant things and moments. Also, don't even get me started on how fucking easily Angel just fell right back into the guys' arms after they did what they did to her. I lost any kind of respect I had for her at that point.

I probably won't finish this series.

Hmm

I’m in the middle of how i feel about this book. I freaking love angle and her character but a part of me feels like the body could have been fleshed out a bit more. I however freaking love each of their backstories. I just don’t really know their personalities all that well. Well except carter but by the end even then i was a little lost on him.

Overall i enjoyed the story and the plot was pretty good kept me guessing for a bit. I do love that each guy got with her and their connection is raw and real. I loved that darkness and the chains of life is what connected them.

Nope nope nope no. I don't think I can get over the fact that they tortured her. I mean I get it they're all fucked up and whatnot and it was explained well it's just I wasn't really feeling the romance anyway and I don't think I'm going to start feeling it anytime soon. I'm also not a fan of the abrupt scene changes between chapters I want to know what's happening in a continuous flow when I'm reading this was more like episodic chapters which kept taking me out if the book. DNF 94%.

This was good up until the point where Angel was kidnapped & tortured by the guys she trusted. A few days later she was screwing them as if nothing happened. That is wrong on so many levels. I don't care what kind of background she had. I don't care to read further because she's clearly mental and I just can't relate to that. It's a shame because it was kind of interesting.
