I was born and raised in Tampa, Florida. I joined the Air Force, and my career took me from coast to coast before depositing me in the St. Louis, Missouri area for several years. After a tour in Korea and a short return to the St. Louis area, I retired and moved to the greater Denver, Colorado metropolitan area.
I write speculative fiction, mostly science fiction and fantasy. My favorite writers over the years have been Robert E. Howard, Philip K. Dick, Roger Zelazny, and Michael Crichton.

Faith Benson is Commander of the Pandora, currently she is stationed on the Clarion, one of the ships in her fleet, which is captained by Lieutenant Commander Patty Scalise. Scalise is one of many who have a poor opinion of Faith, possibly even part of a plot to depose her. After all, she was the one who caused the death of so many on Jotun!
Faith is determined to do the right thing and see her name cleared. She just needs the support of some of her crew to do this. If she can gather them together safely. There is someone who is working for the wrong side on board ship and she will need help in clearing them out.
There are others in the story who are not actually human and they are not so easy to define in terms of the side that they are on. Some are mechanical, some are flesh, but they have orders to follow as part of their conditioning.
This is an exciting episode in the Shadow series, with intrigue and action running throughout. The characters have depth, complex issues and background, which makes them more sympathetic to read. It is so much more than Faith Benson's trials and tribulations, there is the battle for dominion by different races to enjoy as well.
What a superb science-fiction story. I really enjoyed myself.

"There was a physicality about his body language that hinted it was a real exertion for him just to stay calm. “What is it, Commander? I have Marines waiting for me.” “You have a commander waiting for you - right here, right now. That takes priority.”

I received a free copy of this novel from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review.
