Our Nearest Kinsman: The Story of Ruth and Our Redemption in Christ the second book in this series. The first book is Our Nearest Kinsman: The Message of Redemption and Revival in the Book of Ruth. This second book is a quick and excellent read, comparing the Gentile Ruth's "redemption" by Boaz, her near kinsman, who saves her from a life of poverty after her husband and father-in-law dies, leaving her and Naomi to fend for themselves.
Hession presents a beautiful description of Christ as our kinsman redeemer, rescuing us from our sinful and doomed conditions and giving us eternal life, simply because he loves us.
I recommend this book to anyone who struggles with the insecurity of knowing for sure they have eternal life through the blood of Christ and his amazing forgiving grace.
