This book was very inspirational. It told the events of a young woman going through a life threating experience. Cassidy was a great student and just by making one bad choice, her life was turned upside down. She then started focusing more on the bad situations than the good. If it wasn’t one thing it was another. Cassidy thought she was alone, but she soon found out that she had people by her side. This story shows that with the help of your loved ones, you can get through anything. And no matter what you are going through, if you believe that God has a way for you, you will always come out with a positive outcome. I see now that no matter what trouble a may get into God will always have a plan for me. I also learned that not everyone knows what to do in the time of need, so if I lend a hand to someone in need, they will be ready to return the favor when I need them. This book can give anyone hope to keep moving forward no matter what they are going through. This book had so much going on from raping, to fights, arguments, relationships and friendships being challenged, the police being contacted, advisers being voted out, and people breaking down mentally. But at the end of the day with God everything turned out just fine. No matter how much turmoil they went through, they all came out strong. The book was based on Cassidy Cross, a member on the Beta Gama Pi Sorority. And whenever one of her sorority sisters mentally broke down the other members were there to help out. They never let their sisters go through something alone. This showed how strong the sorority life really is. This book shows that other than your blood family, there are really people out there that really cares for you and will help you out. There are people that will try to bring you down, but as long as you have people to support you, you will always succeed. Basically, this book says put God first ad yo9u will never go wrong, but he will never put you in a situation that he knows you can’t get out of. Be strong no matter what and keep your head high. You have to try to better yourself. Try to live life the way God wants you to. And if you go through something, try and teach others from your mistakes so they won’t have to go through what you did. In the book it states, “Adversity makes you figure it out. When you’re up against the rope-you have no way out, no hope, no solution-adversity draw you to your knees, and you come to God. And then He can reign and rule in your life, and He can give you a plan. Trust him…” (page 181). This quote sums up the whole book to me. Keep your heart pure and believing in God and nothing will be able to stop you from succeeding and having a positive life. I’ve learned a lot from reading this book ad I think others girls my age should read this book as well.
Got It Going On PLOT: Because of Cassidy Cross's reputation she's interested in Beta, but they aren't interested in her. Cassidy goes through a traumatic experience where she's almost raped and it brings up something in her past that she's blocked out all these years. On top of all this, she has to deal with the drama going on in the sorority again facing illegal actions which could possibly lead Beta to be terminated.
MY THOUGHTS: *I kind of agree with Cassidy. Some of the biggest people who claim to be believers talk out of both sides of their necks. Preaching about lifting people up, but in their personal lives cutting people down. *Wow a line of 37. I had no idea that many could be accepted on a line. I always thought (and maybe this is just my sorority ignorance) that they did whatever they could to limit the number of pledges and make the lines be more exclusive. It seems like everyone who went to the rush got accepted. If only that were true. *The Beta's must be REALLY stupid! In THE WAY WE ROLL when Loni and Torian were trying to do the underground thing a girl died. And they didn't learn from that? I think it was Loni who even walked away with Malloy and was adamantly against hazing. Now that she's got her letters all of a sudden she's FOR hazing? Sometimes I think someone needs to suspend their chapter permanently. Didn't they just get off suspension good? Maybe Beta NEEDS to be suspended. They just never seem to learn their lesson. * I just don't get the *paper" thing. I thought *paper* was someone whose parent or other family was in it. If anything Malloy shouldn't be considered paper because her mom's the president. But since when does someone have to whump your behind to be legitimate. You're legitimate if you hold the sororities goals and morals in your heart. Pass all the test. Then go through their rituals. *It's really sad that women (Cassidy) blame themselves for the actions of another human being. It's even sadder when the actions of another person reflect the ways we see ourselves. And I can relate to this. Sometimes what other people do to us can damage us so bad that we think we don't deserve a good thing (or a good person). Just like Cassidy, we tend to think we aren't deserving or worthy. It's so MESSED UP! But it's also so true! *And then it's so HARD to forgive. I admired the fact that Cassidy could forgive her uncle after what he did. Cause I gotta tell you being in a situation where someone wrongs you like that and have all that anger inside is a true test of character.
RATE: I give this book 8 stars. The overall message I took from this is taking responsibility for our own actions. It dealt with the serious issue of rape and how we (as women) tend to wrongly rationalize and place the blame on ourselves. It taught that instead of being silent we have a responsibility to speak out to prevent these things from happening to another (sister). It balanced it out by showing a bad man that's only out for booty and the damage and fall out he leaves behind versus what a "true" man of Christ has to offer when we're right with God. Then it showed a very good lesson about self- esteem. But the biggest lesson I took from it was the power of forgiveness. I think all the characters had some forgiving to do. Cassidy to Konner. The Beta's to the advisor. Al to all those women. (Does he ever really apologize to all of them or just Cassidy? Did he even tell her he was sorry?) I think this book shows a good example of how we say we're going to do better but keep repeating the same mistakes. (The Betas keep getting countless chances but and time and time again they drop the ball. So much so that it's frustrating at times to keep reading.) Again another good book in the series demonstrating realness and then showing strong Christian beliefs.
Got it going on i thought that was a sad book because cassidy got rapped by a boy name aldutch. In tis book she had a in character and a out character her in character she acted all sweet around other people but when she get around her friends she acts tough. i recommend this book.
