Draw magic! Fairies are an ever-popular subject for children and adults alike, and this beautiful guide gives beginners all they need to know to portray an array of otherworldly creatures. In addition to getting information on basic materials, equipment, and media, budding artists will learn how to use humans as models; capture fairy features, expressions and poses; and create a variety of characters?including dryads, sprites, and nymphs. An entire chapter is dedicated to just wings and clothing, and there’s help in designing relevant backgrounds and scenery?the perfect wonderful fairy realm.
A good, very broad over-view of how to use various media and methods to create faerie beings and landscapes. Covers basic watercolor washes and effects,Computer generated art, drawing basic shapes and forms, acrylic paint techniques, pastels and more. While a lot of information is covered it is extremely general. Previous experience may not be necessary to start out with this book, but an existing background would help out especially with drawing/sketching. The illustrations are both beautiful and informative. I especially appreciate the pages dedicated to each element of a faerie (face, body, wings, clothes).
