Essence
In Trapped in a Dream, Faith and Chris barely survive the cover-up of an illegal experiment that gave them telepathic abilities.
Now, in Essence, while on vacation in Barcelona, and as they come to terms with their new reality, Faith inadvertently connects with another experimental subject who she witnesses committing a murder. Horrified, all she can discern from it is that the subject is a woman, and it occurred in some kind of laboratory.
Unable to go to the authorities, Faith and Chris team up with a local agent, Professor Xavier Vall, who, while unpredictable, is uniquely qualified for undisclosed reasons to keep them safe.
So, once again, Faith and Chris find themselves in the middle of an obscure conspiracy, this time in pursuit of a dangerous woman, unaware she dons extraordinary skills far more advanced than their own, and willing to stop at nothing to protect a secret.
