THE MALICE CODE (A Remi Laurent FBI Suspense Thriller) is book #3 in a new series by mystery and suspense author Ava Strong, which begins with THE DEATH CODE (Book #1).
FBI Special Agent Daniel Walker, 40, known for his ability to hunt killers, his street-smarts, and his disobedience, is singled out from the Behavioral Analysis Unit and assigned to the FBI’s new Antiquities unit. The unit, formed to hunt down priceless relics in the global world of antiquities, has no idea how to enter the mind of a murderer.
Remi Laurent, 34, brilliant history professor at Georgetown, is the world’s leading expert in obscure historic artifacts. Shocked when the FBI asks for her help to find a killer, she finds herself reluctantly partnered with this rude American FBI agent. Special Agent Walker and Remi Laurent are an unlikely duo, with his ability to enter killers’ minds and her unparalleled scholarship, the only thing they have in common, their determination to decode the clues and stop a killer.
When an American is found murdered in Italy, the victim of a potential serial killer obsessed with ancient church relics, the FBI’s Antiquities unit is summoned to help. Special Agent Walker knows he needs Remi’s scholarship to decode the undecipherable puzzle that leads them in a wild race across Italy, from the secrets of the Vatican to forgotten churches in Tuscany.
Together, they must follow the clues, peel back the layers of history, and solve the riddle before the killer strikes again.
But will they be too late?
An unputdownable crime thriller featuring an unlikely partnership between a jaded FBI agent and a brilliant historian, the REMI LAURENT series is a riveting mystery, grounded in history, and packed with suspense and revelations that will leave you continuously in shock, and flipping pages late into the night.

Remi and Daniel make the most different team of FBI agents one would expect. She is all proper, educated, full of etiquette, and he is straight to the point, ruthless, eats too much, and makes bad selections of food. However, they make things work and have been able to solve difficult cases involving the art area. The Malice Code story points to one rather old Association that protects one book that was written by Judas himself, and if revealed will cash the structure of the Catholic church and many other religions. Someone wants that book and is killing to have it. Remi and Daniel are on his path together with the Italian Police, and they will get him! A good and well-written plot leads to beautiful places in Italy which are very well described. I downloaded a free copy of this book through BookFunnel and this is my honest opinion.
Well I think three in a row is enough of this series. We now have Remi Laurent making the decision she has been pondering for the previous two books of the series. Will she or won't she?
The plot is another group of religious fanatic pursuing some relic that may or may not exist. Dan Brown did a good job of inspiring these three books in the same vein.
As I indicated in my review of the previous two books, Kevin Green, does a good job with the vocalization if you keep the speed down to 150 %. Any faster and the French accent and pacing of Remi Laurent's speech become difficult to follow.
I really enjoyed this third book I the Remi Laurent series. Remi and Daniel continue to make me smile because they are such polar opposites. Together, they work so well. This time, a killer is after a different type of artifact, the book written by Judas. No one will impede his quest for the prize. I love the descriptions of Italy and this story was very well-paced with a lot of twists and a nicely thought-out plot. Can’t wait for #4. **I received this book in exchange for an honest review. **
She has left on another, crime solving mystery slueth caper.
Can She and detective Daniel solve this crime of Religious followers of ancient Church Secrets. Could the clue she holds to the cryptex solve this mystery. Will she get closer to answers in her personal life.
One thing is certain she is hard headed, head strong, and she just might get someone killed, detective Daniel has to babysit the creative brilliant toddler yet again.
Another excellent thrill ride from Ms Strong!! Definitely did not disappoint!! I love the totally different area of the crime world that Dr Laurent & Daniel team up to fight against. It's an area that has been written about only a few times before but Strong is mailing it!! The charades are great, the plot is strong & I can't wait to start the next book!! An excellent thriller that I would highly recommend!!
I listened to the audiobook version (which isn't on Goodreads yet) and enjoyed this book as much as the others in the series so far. The story is well written and the narrator is excellent, performing a multitude of different accents and voices.
The saga continues. I didn’t enjoy this book as much as the 1st 2, mainly because the crimes were much more horrible and the motivation behind them sounded much more unbelievable. I’m still enjoying the partnership between the FBI agent and the professor but the tale lacked cohesion.
An interesting story where the female character searches through historical archives for clues, in order to stop more murders from happening. An ARC member and grateful.
Another great story by Ava Strong. Full of action. Hard to put down. The professional and personal relationship between Daniel and Remi is exciting to read about and follow.
