Competitive Buddha" is an insightful and thought-provoking audiobook that delves into the intersection of competition and the teachings of Buddha. With a focus on impermanence, this audiobook presents a unique perspective on personal growth and success in today's competitive world.

One of the standout aspects of "Competitive Buddha" is its ability to blend ancient wisdom with modern-day challenges. The audiobook explores the concept of impermanence, emphasizing that everything in life is transient, including success, fame, and material possessions. By examining the impermanent nature of these external factors, it encourages listeners to shift their focus inward and seek lasting fulfillment rather than being solely driven by external validation.

By understanding impermanence, one can detach from these fleeting achievements and find contentment in the present moment.

While "Competitive Buddha" offers valuable insights, it may require an open mind and a willingness to challenge preconceived notions. Some listeners who are new to Buddhist philosophy or who are strongly attached to the idea of competition may find certain concepts challenging to accept. However, for those seeking a fresh perspective on personal growth and success, this audiobook presents a compelling case.

One of the drawback of this audiobook is that it can be a bit repetitive. Certain concepts, such as impermanence, are reiterated throughout the book, which may lead to some redundancy. Additionally, the book spent way too much time on people that benefited from the book and Buddhist philosophy rather than focusing on the core Buddhist principles.

This book uses Buddhism as a purely motivational tool, and you hear more about the success of its author then you need to. I had high hopes for the book when I began listening, but struggled to engage as it seemed like the author was more focused on telling you why this would work or how he has been successful, as opposed to just teaching how to utilize these elements in sport. Also, the book does not engage with Buddhism, outside of motivation and its western contacts. The author is upfront about this which is beneficial. Nevertheless, it is not one for those wanted to understand how Buddhism and sport combine from a religious standpoint

This book had so much potential. Instead the author used the opportunity at every corner to name drop, humble brag about famous coaches who read his prior books and turn every anecdote back to him. It was honestly WEIRD. After the first 40 pages or so it got real old real fast. I couldn’t even finish this drivel. “The Mindful Women of Maryland Lacrosse” in part 1 was my tipping point. It was wildly clear this author googled “what is lacrosse” and tried to use that as an intro to the chapter. This guy is a hack.

Jerry Lynch, PHD ties Eastern philosophies of Buddha with the competitive nature demonstrated in both sport and life. The writer ties in his years of work associated with a wide variety of athletic championship teams. This text is a teaching book to help the reader develop new ideas to incorporate to grow and further develop the mind, body and spirit of both athlete and coach. Highly recommend for all.

A great book !
I started this book without waiting for something great. I really enjoyed the process of Buddhism in sports. The way it's explained is well done and the insights to apply this on ourselves are great.
