An extremely insightful and inspired approach to tracing important aspects of the Thai psyche. Mulder writes with pleasant wit to boot, and is willing to allow today's burning social questions to remain just that...open-ended. Especially in the light of most recent events, Mulder's analysis seems even keener.

Thailand, the Land of Smiles, is known for the charm of its women and is also thought to be a bachelor's holiday paradise. It is known for serene Buddhist temples and also for Thai boxig, probably the toughest form of pugilism.

pugilism-the profession or hobby of boxing.

A scholarly look into Thai society; more of an anthropological/sociological method than simple explication for tourists. Very thorough in it's account of the origins of Thai people's behavior. Recommended for any foreigner who feels at home in Thailand and yearns to know why Thais act how they do.
