It's a good book if you are interested in native American history. It's sad, basically telling the story of the last of the Wanapums in central Washington to live according to their traditions. It was written by a white man from Yakima who was friends with them for decades, and who was adopted into the tribe. It's slightly disorienting, as the writer seems to slip from writing as one usually expects with certain conventions about chronology and context, and then telling stories in what I believe is the Indian style. Because of that, I put it down a couple of times, but I'm glad I persevered and finished the book.
