Hi there. Thanks for stopping by!

I'll tell you right off that I don't like reading my own bios, let alone writing them. It's like tooting your own horn. But if you're here, then you want to know something about me. So how about I break some ‘writers have a glamorous life' myths first off.

Myth 1: Writers have always been writers.
Not me. I was a licensed cosmotologist for years, and didn't even put pen to paper until I was 30. (with an infant and 3 year old) It took me 3 years to write my first book, and while it taught me a lot, it was dreadful ! Got rejected 6 times flat out. I burned it in the back yard when I sold my 20 th book. I've kept the first pages to remind myself of how far I've come.

Myth 2: writers have a staff to take care of them and their homes while they write.
I wish! I don't have a maid, a cook, or anyone who works for me, except maybe Shelley, who maintains this site. Like most women out there, I do all the cooking, cleaning, bills, shopping, etc. Sometimes I can be seen driving the riding lawnmower over our 2 acres. That's not a complaint. I'm a Marine's wife, and my husband was gone a lot, so I had to do it. I'm the only female in a house of men, so I pretty much rule too. And as the daughter, wife, and now the mother of US Marines, believe me, I can give orders when need be.

Myth 3. Writers work when the muse hits them.
If I did, I'd never meet a deadline. Writing isn't about the muse coming to you; it's about unleashing bottled creativity and giving it freedom on paper. Every writer I know feels a deep internal need to tell their particular story and hope you're entertained. Writers HAVE to write. Yeah, sure, sometimes the creativity isn't moving like we want, but like everyone who faces some problem, I go to my friends and they come through in a punch. By the way, I work at my job from about 7 am till 4, sometimes later if it's going great and I don't want to stop. Weekends are for playing, projects or gardening. I actually love pulling weeds; it makes my mind drift to good places.

Myth 4: Writers get paid oodles of money.
Oodles?? If I did, I'd have a staff and a better-looking office. But I get to go to work in the worlds' sloppiest clothes.

Myth 5: Once a writer sells a book, they can sell anything else.
Want to see my rejection file? I could wallpaper a bathroom with it. To keep selling is the really hard part of this job. However, my idea of a great story isn't often blending with the editors. It's frustrating and often, it hurts, since the books writers create have, without a doubt, a piece of them inside. But then, if you can't take it, then this isn't the business for you.

My second book (#1 being the dreadful one I burned) My Timeswept Heart was a finalist in the Romance Writers of America, Golden Heart contest for unpublished works. I didn't win, but it got my work before my Kensington editor. It came out in '93 and I've sold over 30 since. With numerous rejections in between.

Right now, I'm writing books I've wanted to write for three years, Romantic Thrillers. Think Peacemaker or Chain Reaction with a little more romance in them. Lots of action and danger. After writing books in 5 sub genres of romance, (I get bored easily) this new one is the chance for me to use all this military knowledge I've stored up for years. I've fired weapons, rappelled, ridden in an Armored Personnel Carrier, and did some Scuba diving in the East China Sea. It hasn't been boring, and because I write, it never will be.

Now that my Sergeant Major husband is retired, and my sons are grown and towering over their mother, we get to stay in one place.

How average. I love it. When I feel the itch to move every 3 years, I just redecorate.

Well, its time for me to get back to work. Thanks for visiting. Take a look around the site, drop me a note, even read the first chapter of a new novel, if you like. It's out there for you, the reader. I wouldn't be loving my job if you weren't

Damage Control

This book is a lot like an action movie. Really, you can actually see Jason Statham or Bruce Willis starring in it with one of those sexy new actress with more appearance than talent. Yeah, I totally see it. It could even be entertaining. But I’m not sure it works for a book.

I have several issues with this book. First, it is longer than it should be. Okay, so the plot is quite developed (but not as twisted as you could think) but the whole thing drags a little from time to time. For a book that should be full of action, twists, turns and explosions, there is quite a lot of extended descriptions and not enough dialogues.

Also, what is wrong with women in this story! They are all supposed to be strong heroines, but this is just an excuse to do some really stupid things and be totally soft and whining other times. Veta could be such a remarkable villain (it’s great to finally read about a female villain!) but her action are inconsistent. There are times when she is just a cold-hearted bitch but then she just makes some silly, childish decisions that are not in her character. And just look at Olivia! She always acts when she should just wait, but swoons over Sebastian like some blushing flower at the same time.

And I’m not totally convinced by the romance. I really like the second chance ideas but somehow it doesn’t work here.

I really enjoy the setting of this book. The huge part of the story is set on Greenland. But as a political scientist I just can’t come over this ridiculous plotline. It is so cold-war-ish and old-school. Russians planning to actually use chemical weapon on the US? Really? Like really? I mean I know that countries secretly work on some military technology and the whole idea in the book is based on the Kursk story (at least that is what it looks to me because the author doesn’t write anything about it in her final notes). But the idea of Russians secretly plotting to start an obvious war with States, it’s so old-school. I expected something more innovative. There are too many stereotypes in this book.

I haven’t read any of the previous books in this series and it presents some problem. There are many characters I should probably know from the previous books and I still don’t really know who is who. I think that one day I may read another book in this series. Now, I’m giving it weak 3 stars, more like 2.5.

This was a terrific book once it finally got started. The plot was a little intricate but very engrossing and I had a hard time putting it down (when I was able to read it!). I liked the heroine - she had just the right balance of tough chick and vulnerability without diving headfirst into TSTL-land. Sebastian, the sexy Cajun hero, was everything you would expect in a former marine/mercenary/cajun bad boy.

My only reservations keeping this from a 5 star read were the length of time getting the ball rolling and the slight escape into science fiction/paranormal at the end. Even though it worked, I could have done without it.

I'm surprised I liked this as much as I did, considering that the romance angle seemed to get pushed to the side. But the story itself along with the legend was good enough that I really enjoyed this book. Sometimes I did get lost in some of the specialized terms, but was pretty much able to figure out what was being talked about.

I've really enjoyed this series, but I wouldn't say that Sebastian and Olivia are my favorite duo. Also, I was shocked at the history between the 2, since nothing was even alluded to in the synopsis.

If you like unbelievable action plots, this book is for you! Imagine an archeological dig that leads to the discovery of rogue Russian submarines, supernatural artifacts and Viking Chinese connections. Having difficulty?

Obviously part of a series. A but lost without having read the prior books. Not interested enough to read them.

Amy J. Fetzer weaves an intricate plot, full of imagery, meticulous technical details, varied settings, underground operatives, military intrigues and action.
The novel starts more like a military thriller than a suspense romance, which usually focuses on the main couple. In Damage Control, nearly all the characters, including subordinate ones, share their point of view and are developed. As Olivia Corrigan and Sebastian Fontenot race for their lives, it becomes a fast-paced suspenseful adventure. I enjoyed this tale of lovers reuniting amid top-secret military covert operations, and rekindling their passion as they team up to rescue a kidnapped mutual friend.

3.5 stars. I enjoyed the plotline of the story. It was complicated and took a while to be fully developed, but it was interesting and once the book really got underway, it was very exciting and hard to put down. Although the focus was more on the plotline than the romance, I still loved how Sebastian and Olivia handled their second chance like adults, without any recriminations over mistakes of the past. It was nice to see Sebastian get his HEA. Another highlight for me was the Irish legend, since I have previously read and loved Fetzer's Irish Trilogy, which featured the Maguire of the legend that Olivia was researching.

Usually when I purchase a .99 book it is okay and very short. This was a long book and full of action packed adventure.

I think that this story would be a pretty good movie. It seemed as though the author did lots of research to make this story as believable as possible.

The first three chapters kept me hopping and it was constant action. It hooked me right away. All in all, a very cool story line.

The only thing I didn't like about Damage Control is that there was too many characters. I kept getting lost and still more new characters were being introduced throughout the story.

Great story!

So I just finished this book from the library and am glad I didn't buy it. So many grammatical errors that I wasn't sure this thing was ever edited. Whoever published this thing should give their head a shake. The story had potential but was all over the map. I wish the author would decide what genre they are aiming for and commit.

This book is horrible, I stopped reading it halfway through. The author jumps from person to person trying to develop their characters but fails and then she has so many different story lines going on at once that she jumps to and from and the writing is deficient in every way possible. Save your time and don't read this book.

This was action packed which was great...but not enough story to explain why the main couple had a change of heart. Have to say they are my least favorite couple in the series.
