Germanen Saga #2

Der Adler des Germanicus

Rate this book

Second part of the epic saga of Cheruski Thorag, his fellow people of the Germanic kind and their battles against the Roman people and each other. After Augustus' death, Tiberius is new emporer of Rome. Meanwhile, his stepson Germanicus has lots of trouble to deal with: before he can even think about attacking the Germanic people, he must deal with his legions that are on munity. Fun times, only not. And he's got his son with him, little baby boy Caligula - scary even as a child, let me tell you. Brrrr.

As for Thorag and Armin, oh my, lots and lots of family trouble. And, of course, the Cheruski aren't united. Will they ever be? Sigh.

Still very entertaining, this saga, I really like! Be aware that it's very gruesome and violent, though. But well, those were tough times!

A page turner set in an interesting time in history. But the story is sometimes a little hard to believe and much of the characters are flat stereotypes. Still fun to read, but not a memorable book.
