Charlie is the Questor of the Cat Spirit, but he's still learning.
Three of the Questors of the Seven Great Spirits have faced their first dangerous Task, and succeeded in maintaining the Balance of Existence. Now bonded to one of the Twin Rings, Charlie must find out how to harness its legendary power, as well as continuing to understand the dominant magic of the Cat Spirit within him.
Another challenge from within also faces the Questors, as one of their number pulls away from them in pain and loss. Charlie finally begins to understand why he might have been chosen for his role as his natural talents come into play.
Of course they would not be Questors if there was not another critical Task awaiting them on the horizon. This time they are being sent to the world of Mydarec, a strange place run by Mafia style families, where magic is known and vampires are part of everyday society.
All seven Questors must use their considerable talents to navigate this strange new place, and figure out what, exactly, it is they are supposed to be doing.

In the second book of The Chronicles of Charlie Waterman, Charlie and his gang are sent to alternative universe where violence, intrigues, magic and vampires are everyday thing.
Charlie and his friends know that there are a reason why they are send to this world but they are not sure what it is. Meanwhile Alexander (the Dragon) has to play a role of a visiting vampire from rich vampire family, and Charlie as Alexander's enthralled human bodyguard and consort. Enter a reluctant sorcerer/assassin bound to a power hungry politician, an underground group that kidnaps vampire enslaved humans and Charlie visions of Alexander being tortured and killed.
The writing has been improved since the Cat's Call. As expected others Questers, apart from Charlie and Alexander, are slowly growing to life, in this book especially, Yesenia (the Spider) and Junko (the Horse).
And I absolutely love Charlie, he is such a sweetheart, and Alexander is just as awesome. I shipped them in the first book and was a bit sad that Charlie doesn't swing that way, but now I'm more than happy to see them as just good friends. Seriously. Junko is a likeable character and kudos to her for making the first move. Yay for Charlie/Junko! *now ships Alexander/Barr* And, of course, yay for cat!Charlie.
Please note that the author is of one my GR friends but is has no impact on my enjoyment or honest reflection on the book.
Book #2 in Natasha's The Chronicles of Charlie Waterman series was a great addition to the series.
I was quite excited to read this one as I LOVED Cat's Call (Book #1) and where it left Charlie and the gang.
The first thing that bugged me was some of the events in book one were mentioned in passing at the beginning of book two, but it has been almost 12 months since reading book one and I struggled with remembering all the information about the events recalled. Either a little more information (rehashing of the old scenes) or a bit of a preamble summarising book 1 at the beginning would have cleared this up a lot.
I enjoyed the emotional and mental dialogue that Charlie experienced/expressed in this book a bit more than the last one too, I feel he's really starting to come into his own.
The reason this book only got 4 stars instead of 5 (like book 1) is primarily because there seemed to be a lot happening in this book that didn't fully fit into the story. The whole sub-story about the mentor threw me for six. I wasn't expecting that and I don't think it quite fit. That being said - I don't know what Natasha is planning for the rest of the story, but it seemed a bit odd to me.
Still a great book and worth reading!
A couple of things I noticed:
1% - '...who shook out her main (mane)...' 27% - '...between catwalk chic a nd (and) top...' 55% - '...the knife quick a (as) lightning.' 63% - '...ventilation duck (duct).'
Having loved the first book I was excited to read the sequel. I always have that moment when starting to read a sequel as to whether I should reread the previous book but decided to dive right in and it was all good before I knew it I was happily lost in the plot. Like the first it is very fast paced.
The main character Charlie is really likeable and by now I care about him and his future. He has been thrown into this strange world of the Between and his special life of being a Questor of the cat spirit along with 6 others (various animals). The side characters are really starting to grow now which I love. Together the Questors must keep the 'balance' and I will have enjoy finding out how.
The plot of this book captured me off to their world and I read in a very very small amount of time compared to what I normally read like. Which is probably the best compliment I can ever give books :-P
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's the second in the Charlie Waterman Chronicles and Charlie and his team of questors are up to more shennanigans :) This one had vampires, mobsters and some pretty powerful telekenetics, plus Charlie fumbling his way through life as usual! Fun characters, interesting plot and even a little hurt comfort - all FTW :)
The writing is improved over the first book in the series. The characters are intriguing. The premise is interesting. It is more young than adult, but I enjoyed it, will read it again, and will buy the next book in the series when it is published. I recommend this is an entertaining light read.
Was happy to see the sequel up and ready. I like this universe very much. And fans of a Charlie/Alexander dynamic will appreciate many parts of this book.
