F.R. Jameson was born in Wales, but now lives in London with his wife and young daughter. He writes both historical thrillers and supernatural thrillers.
His books are, at the moment, mostly sorted into two different – but complimentary – series. The first, ‘Screen Siren Noir’, currently comprises of three novels: ‘Diana Christmas’, ‘Eden St. Michel’ and ‘Alice Rackham’. All of which tell the stories of beautiful British film stars caught up in Noir tales of blackmail, obsession, scandal and death. He is currently working on both the fourth and fifth books in the series.
The second series is more disturbing and scary, and lives under the moniker: ‘Ghostly Shadows’. Right now there is only one book published, a tale of supernatural revenge – ‘Death at the Shadows’. However, 2019 will bring four more entries to terrify and intrigue.
His blog - https://frjameson.com/ - is regularly updated with information about his writing, as well as film and book reviews. You can follow him @frjameson on Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest, and you can find him on Facebook.
Thank you F. R. Jameson for the ARC of this great book.
A young crime blogger, Jenna, becomes caught up in a string of violent and gruesome killings.
When police wind up stumped with no leads, Jenna takes it upon herself to dig deeper.
She may not like what she finds, especially when she herself winds up on the killer's hit list.
A great murder mystery type read with some violent and bloody murders added in. It doesn't get better than that.
FRJ added a cool and original twist with the killer and did a great job of building up suspense as the story played out. I also really liked the MC Jenna and how her blog posts were incorporated into the story.
This is a really good independently published book worth checking out!
FR Jameson dishes up another slice of dark fantasy in this fast paced horror novel. There are plenty of bad things happening in London & true crime blogger Jessica claims that a killer is murdering people every year on 29th April. But will anyone believe her ? Mysterious characters fill the pages of Jameson's excellent horror story & one of the most puzzling is The Caller. He gives a plain red card to each of his victims before they are brutally murdered.....but how does he keep avoiding capture ? And could there be links to other killings that span the past 70 years ? The Caller is a novel as gripping (and as violent) as any of the author's previous short stories & novellas. Jameson's characters are fascinating & varied & ground things in reality against the more fantastic elements of the story. The Caller is another very brutal, but always entertaining, story from this talented author. After all this horror I think I'll read a Paddington Bear book next.
An edgy mystery full of dark secrets, shocking plot twists and pulse-pounding, palpable tension. After the first few pages, I knew this was a book I wasn’t going to be able to put down, until I got to The End. If you like absolutely unpredictable, twisted suspense as much as I do, you can't go wrong with this book!
This book I actually sat and read it in a day, couldn't put it down! The storyline had me gripped from the very beginning. This is a murder mystery tale with a supernatural take which I really enjoyed and it didn't hold back on the gruesome deaths either! Love the characters and there development throughout the story! Really do recommend giving this read!
This is the second book I’ve read from this author and as before I was not disappointed! This one picks you up and carries you along on a horrific crime spree! It contains a serial killer that has been operating around the globe for centuries. A “creature from another plane of existence. Summoned forth by a book. Able to disappear into thin air. Will keep murdering until it finishes the sequence, or someone utters a particular incantation.”
Jenna writes a crime blog and stumbles upon some heinous unsolved murders. She investigates, gets to close, learns the unbelievable truth behind these acts and eventually hears this one evening, “I am The Caller, my friend and tonight I call for you!”
If the job of an author is to entertain than Mr. Jameson has done his job! And very well I might add!

This is an intense murder mystery tale with supernatural elements that does not let up for one moment. I'm a big fan of watching and reading about true crime so I was hooked with Jenna's struggle to find out who these killers were. I loved the inclusion of her blogs as well and the killer profiles she's given. It's gory, it's quick paced and I honestly struggled to put this book down! I highly recommend checking out the rest of Jameson's work.
F.R Jameson was kind enough to send me 'The Caller', his latest supernatural serial-killer thriller (will be released on July the 7th), for review.
'The Caller', is a standalone instalment in the Ghostly Shadows Anthology series by the same author. An anthology I plan to read the soonest as I was blown away by 'The Caller'.
The story follows Jenna Driscoll, a young crime blogger who digs into a series of bizarre and violent murders happening in London.
The brutality of the murders escalates leaving the police and investigators baffled as the seemingly unconnected victims have just one thing in common. A red card, is left with every corpse.
Digging deeper, Jenna discovers what every member of the police force fails to. The uncompehensible, sinister identity and true nature of the murderer.
A murderer out of this world, determined to draw blood in increasingly horrific ways. A demonic presence that will add on his kill list anyone who caughts his attention. He is 'The Caller', and when he visits, it means death.
What follows for Jenna, is a game of life and death as 'The Caller' now knows and calls her name..
This a perfect read if you like your horror infused with crime and filled with mystery and suspense. This is the perfect blend of such works as 'From Hell' and 'Zodiac'. There are strong echoes of Jack the Ripper and the Zodiac killer with strong and masterfully penned supernatural elements.
The story flows beautifully and the horror comes in waves with every graphic, gruesome murder. This spellbinding, bone-chilling tale of mystery will keep you up at night trying to reach the satisfying finale.
This was my second F.R. Jameson read and my favorite of the two! I loved this classic horror vibe with a modern twist. When a book seeps into my nightmares...you know it's a good one and my friends, The Caller made an appearance. I am good with gore so the grisly details didn't bother me. I felt that the beginning was a bit repetitive but I understand that it was necessary for the plot. I liked the backstory of the murders and I loved the edition of a creepy, sorta helpful, otherworldly Elspeth. Overall, a great horror read that I can't wait to recommend to my horror fans! Thank you to the author for an E-ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Wow, what an amazing story. I’ve read quite a few books written by F.R. Jameson and each one has been thoroughly entertaining. The Author has that wonderful ability of being able to pull you into the story, so that nothing else exists around you. The Caller would have to be one of my favourite characters that I’ve come across in quite a while, mainly because he is so unique and different from anyone else. Brilliant!! Jenna was doing everything she could by making people aware of a serial killer that murdered people on the 29th of April each year, well, at least the last six years that she knew of. Jenna wrote a crime blog of unsolved murders, normally on crimes that had gone unsolved many months after the victim had been killed. The latest murder was extremely violent, and what made it worst is the fact that it wasn’t the only one, and that it also happened before the 29th of April. Night after night, people were being killed in the most horrific manner, and it didn’t seem if it was going to stop any time soon. With no DNA or fingerprints left at the scene, it was going to be incredibly hard to track down the killer. This is definitely a very worthwhile book to read, and I’d certainly recommend it. 5/5 Star Rating. I received an advanced copy of this book for an unbiased opinion.
The story itself is compelling from start to finish. Combined with a simplistic writing style and short chapters, makes this a fun fast-paced novel. The gore department doesn't hold back as well. Whenever the titular 'Caller' shows up, he steals the scene. The blog posts by our main character Jenna is a fun addition to the story too. I just wish, as the main character, she has a more solid or personal connection to the events from the get go so I could easily root for her the rest of the story.
Overall, 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘾𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙧 is a bloody good supernatural crime thriller.
If you're a fan of supernatural horror, or crime, or either one, you should check out F.R Jameson's 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘾𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙧. It will be released on July 7th. If you also have some fascination with serial killers, particularly the enigmatic ones like the Zodiac Killer and of course Jack the Ripper, you should definitely give this a read too.
This is the first time I have read a book by this author - and I was really pleased with this novel. The book focuses on a serial killer who has worked around the world for several "centuries". The author will captivate you, and draw you into his solid story line. The work is captivating and you will not want to put it down. Mr Jameson will hold your attention, no question about that! The story line is solid and the characters full developed. I hated to set this book down.
As you know, I am a huge Jameson fan. There are only a few things he has written that I have not reviewed here, those will happen eventually! I am not a murder mystery fan. So I am always torn when I start a Jameson book that has any hint of murder mystery to it. Thankfully, I didn’t read the description I just immediately said yes to wanting to read. I almost missed my chance to read another instalment in the series that should truly be called Ravens instead of Ghostly Shadows.
Ravens is my favorite mystery man, his widow being my absolute favorite Jameson character. The moment that Ravens came up I was sold on this book. I was so into it. I knew it would only get bloodier and more terrifying from that point on. Not to say that the book doesn’t start out horrific.
There are many violently graphic murders in this book. That is a bit of a warning. There is blood everywhere. A lot of the horror relied on that gore, which I wasn’t super happy about. It was well written and gross, but I didn’t want Jameson to rely on this shock value. Thankfully the mystery portion gave the horror some more weight, more like what I was expecting. I love that the gore is never the sole method of horror. This relied a lot on despair, anticipation, and gore. Mixing those together was just deliciously terrifying at times.
My biggest complaints are one word and a lack of character depth. I have been learning more about racist language and the more I learn, the more I see it in books. This book is no exception. White people don’t have tribes. The characters were mostly flat, most of their emotions and character built around the horror instead of other things. Near the end of the book there was a bit more depth, it just took a little while to get there. Considering the issues are one word and it taking a long time before getting character depth in a book that I really enjoyed, these are minor complaints.
I am still a fan of Jameson’s. This is not my favorite Ghostly Shadows book, but it stands up well in the series. Scary, bloody, and a really fun read!

Another dark supernatural tale from F. R. Jameson brings to life the story of a mysterious stranger in red, painting the town of London with blood. A series of murders begin, just as our blogger Jenna Driscoll suspects, and she is determined to prove that these seemingly unrelated murders are in fact the work of the April 29th killer.
Our protagonist Jenna is a passionate crime blogger, making a small living from her daily blogging of local crimes. A passionate and determined investigative writer, Jenna devotes her time to collecting sources and information on each crime, confident that the have something to do with the murders occurring every April 29th. So used to evidence and verifiable facts, when the possibility arises that a mysterious book and a fictional character within may also be wreaking supernatural havoc on those around her, Jenna struggles to marry her logical nature with the illogical events going on.
Jameson yet again has the reader gripped from the first paragraph. Captivated by enigmatic characters, and a protagonist that feels as real as the pages turning, the twists and turns of this story are just the icing on the cake. A supernatural murder mystery that will have you wary of any red playing cards you may find, The Caller is a theatrical and terrifying supernatural thriller that you won’t want to put down.
I loved the gore . It was an exciting read. I would recommend this book to those who love gore and supernatural serial killers. Who doesn’t love a good bogeyman, this book delivered it all.
A delightful investigation from a true crime blogger that is about to realize the supernatural exists. I enjoyed meeting Elspeth Carmine from the Ludo Carstairs series.
It's a brilliant book that grips you from the start and doesn't let go, great characters formed into a great story, at times you need a strong constitution and spooky isn't the word for it, I really enjoyed it.
