Coming from the line of the masters of Kashmir Shaivism, Swami Lakshmanjoo brings out the wisdom of his spiritual experiences in this translation of the commentary on Shiva Sutra, called ‘Shiva Sutra Vimarshini’ by Kshemaraja. The Shiva Sutra comprises aphorisms on the knowledge of God-consciousness as revealed by Bhagavan Shiva to his devotee Vasugupta. The result of recordings of the swami’s lectures, transcribed and edited by John Hughes and aptly subtitled ‘The Supreme Awakening’, this masterly commentary will guide spiritual seekers in unravelling and awakening the Consciousness inherent in them. The volume contains the original Sanskrit texts of the Shiva Sutra and ‘Siva Sutra Vimarshini’ as appendices, and is an essential read for students of Kashmir Shaivism.

I am doing an Anusara Yoga immersion - a 9-month intensive study and practice - and we are reading this.

This is a very dense book, not one that can be absorbed quickly. I've had moments of insight and moments of utter confusion. But I plod ahead.

As the hunger for the realization of the Ultimate Truth grows deeper and deeper in the true devotee of Her Majesty Divine Truth, he/she discovers scriptures of Divine Origin. Shiva Sutras were revealed to sage Vasugupta in a dream by a Siddha (perfected being) who told Vasugupta : "On the Mahadeva mountain, the secret doctrines are inscribed on a piece of stone. Collecting the doctrines from there, teach them to those who deserves grace". Shiva Sutras , therefore attributed to Shiva Himself. It is impossible to underestimate the importance of this book. This book is of greatest importance for those who seriously interested in the Ultimate Reality. It is not only perfectly describes Reality, but more that that, it offers three Upayas (spiritual practices, yoga) for different levels of aspirants for the Realization of Siva Consciousness - Sambhava Upaya, Saktopaya and Anavopaya. From my own experience, if one is deeply longing for the realization of the Ultimate Truth, one is inevitably should discover the well of wisdom of Kashmir Shaivism tradition, going ever deeper into the Krama, Kula and Trika systems of Yoga and Phlosophy. If you have never read it, you missed one of the most important spiritual work of all times. Swami Lakshmanjoo translation and commentary translation is great You can also check translations and commentaries on Shiva Sutras by Jaydeva Singh

This is not a book you sit down and "read". It is dense, for study. That said it does a good job of covering the beginnings of Kashmir Shavism matrika
theory and practices.

Es uno de esos libros que marcan un antes y un después en una etapa determinada de la vida. Resume muy bien lo que considero varios temas tan complejos.
