Andrew Ward moved from the East coast to Bainbridge Island about three years before I moved from Seattle's Magnolia neighborhood to Bainbridge Island. While I still lived on the Island, Ward was a "local hero" for his writing and NPR commentary giving his take on Island life. Finally I found a signed copy of "Out Here" for $1.75 at the Bainbridge Library book sale. (This is a sale where we donated over 250 books when we left the Island in January, 2016.) I loved reading about Ward's transplant experience, as it was somewhat similar to my own. Excect for him living in a fancy waterfront enclave, and me in a falling down "fixer" farmhouse with chickens, ducks and geese roaming the back yard. Ward created a very enjoyable read and a true to life reflection on Island Life. I would recommend it highly for anyone who has or does have a connection to Bainbridge and the greater Puget Sound lifestyle.
