Providing day-by-day instructions for novice winemakers, this guide takes the guesswork out of using kits and concentrates for producing high-quality wine at home. Covering everything the hobbyist vintner needs to know about the winemaking process, this informative handbook discusses the different kinds of winemaking kits that are on the market, presents solutions to the most common problems experienced by kit winemakers with tips on how to avoid these pitfalls, and includes a glossary that demystifies winemaking lingo.
Got this as a supplement to a home-winemaking kit as a Christmas gift. He does a good job explaining in the simplest and succinctest of terms how to go about kit winemaking and why each step is necessary (esp. with regards to chemical additives). His instructions varied fairly widely from some of the kits I have already tried though; for example, he recommends a fermentation temperature of 64-72 deg. F while both the kits have mandated 72-75. Once I start experimenting more and not necessarily using pre-made kits and grape concentrates, I imagine I will be following this pretty closely though.
