The book ‘Personal Excellence’ by Ken Shelton includes articles from renowned people which would help one in personal and professional development. The editor of the book ‘Ken Shelton’ is one of the renowned editor and author known for his various books like ‘Beyond Counterfeit Leadership’ , ‘One On One: Conversations With Stephen Covey’ etc.
To summarize, the book includes articles by Pope John Paul to Hillary Clinton extracted from their speeches or books written by them, which motivates people to achieve better things in life and understand how feeling free is a fundamental human right. The book also highlights how people possess the inner quality to aim and acquire great things in life.
I personally found this book inspiring because instead of reading a whole book based on success story of a specific person, it gives us the glimpse of success and inspiring stories from renowned personalities; which keeps you holding the book because it strikes you as a surprise to read about a different person altogether as you flip the page for the next chapter. The article of each personality mentioned is not more than 3 pages ,so the book can be a starter pack for novice readers. This book has inspired me to look at life in a different way by teaching how facing the problem is always better than running away from it.
One of my favourite articles from the book is ‘Make the connection’ By Oprah Winfrey where she talks about her early struggling days of losing body weight and eventually learning about how to accept yourself as an individual, keep self motivating yourself to do things which are worth doing and also how important it is to take care of your mental and physical health.
Hence do read this book to know what your favourite personalities around the world have got to inspire you.

This book gives ways of how to achieve personal excellence by providing anecdotes and words of successful people. It was interesting to read several different view points from different people, some even contradictory on ways to reach the top.

However, what matters most is the idea that hits you differently, on an individual level which you can take forward in life. All in all, the book was a quick read, with pointers that we all know, but keep forgetting through the busyness of life.

Insights provided by people of various backgrounds show that there's one thing that's common to all successful people: personal excellence, and it all starts within.

My opinion on self help books: the new self help books all have ideas taken from old books, with varied jargon. Either way, they're a nice reminder of how we should lead our lives.

This book contains super short essays from world famous personalities about various aspects of personal excellence.

Few names: Michael Jordan, Hillary Clinton, Barbara Bush, etc

I honestly expected a lot more out of this book. Hence, a bit disappointed. The essays weren't compelling. Most of them gave run-of-the-mill advices in plain language. It didn't quite drill the message hard enough. All in all a 1/5 [more like a 0.5]

2 takeaways:
- Zig ziglar's: day before vacation approach: to planning every day beforehand is useful.
- many people have emphasized & stress upon importance of staying in the present; the now. instead of dwelling in the past or overthinking the future

What I specifically didn't like was the aspect about God. Few personalities have made a mention of belief in God with little to no reasoning provided. It left me wondering if this was more of a push towards converting someone into a religious believer.

He leído la versión en español del Vol. 4
No es la panacea mundial, pero vale la pena de tanto en tanto recordar que con trabajo y esfuerzo las cosas pueden ir mejor.
