Even with their combined Elemental powers over Earth, Fire, Air, Water, Spirit and Sight, Lorand, Rion, Tamrissa, Vallant, Jovvi, and Naran are hard-pressed to defend Gandistra against both its internal and external enemies.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. Attended New York University and graduated with a B.A. in 1963. Married in 1963, had three sons, divorced in 1976. Raised the sons, Andy, Brian and Curtis, alone in New Jersey. Worked for AT&T as a shareowner correspondent, then as an all-around assistant in a construction company, then sold bar steel for an import firm. Left that job as assistant sales manager. I've been writing full time since 1984.
Hobbies: knitting, crocheting, Tae Kwon Do, fencing, archery, shooting, jigsaw puzzles, logic problems, math problems, not cooking.
Don't do my own research, since if I did I'd stay with that and never get any writing done. I usually can finish a novel of about 120,000 words in about three months.
I enjoyed the developments in the power of the Seated Blending as they tried to find ways to defeat the invaders in Gracely, but the ending leaves a lot of questions. We never did find out what is happening in the rest of Gandistra. Driff & companions have sorted out Gan Garee satisfactorily, but there must be a lot of ex-Nobles wandering the distant countryside. We do find out who has been manipulating Tamrissa, Naran, Jovvi, Lorand, Vallant & Rion's world, but not who they are or where they are from. I would really have liked to see how a Low blending got on, as well.
This series is comfort food for me, so I daresay I'll read all 8 books again some time.
I started with the blending I read all five of those books and then continued with the next three. I was riveted by the series. Our world is so full of misery and this utopian story touched me.
More Action, Relationships, Blending Abilities and a Satisfying Conclusion
Everyone in the book believes that it is their destiny to be in control and rule. Only the Seated Blending who is actually in charge objects. They face war, mentally disturbed usurpers, and personal traumas as they continue their development. As their abilities expand so do their responsibilities. Several interesting sub plots intertwine with the main. Excellent series that needs to be read in order.
I thought this was the end of a terrific series. The books seemed to improve with each new addition, and this one was no different. The Blending Enthroned part of the series introduced several new characters, and a lot of new surprises for those in the seated Blending. Their talents only increased with time, and the things they could do were both surprising and entertaining. I would encourage anyone who enjoys fantasy books to read this series.
WTF? This is the last book? Lorand, Rion, Tamrissa, Vallant, Jovvi and Naran still have so much to do. I enjoyed this second series in this world. I questioned when we'd receive the books following only to find out that Ms. Green's publishers didn't want to publish the remaining two books to this series. Way to leave it hanging. Very frustrating. F!
While free will does play a part in the narrative, and questions of prevailing moral ambiguity do exist in the strange new world, it does tend to put a damper on the conclusion to know that we were all lead here.
After reading eight books in a series and coming to the end, there is the desire to be satisfied by the end. I am satisfied. Some pretty cool stuff happened in this last book. Unfortunately there are many books I would rather recommend than these. I am of two minds about the politics in the books, but I like the idea that if you want to work, you can get a job. Wish I could get a job...
A much stronger finish than the previous series. We learn the truth about the nature of the Blendings, and unexpected upheaval within the Noble cadre leads to some interesting developments, and the story is pretty well wrapped up. I could have happily read another couple in this installment, even though all the relationship angst was very Sweet Valley and just a TAD irritataing
this book apparently is out of print even though it's only a couple years old. i found it cheap online and was excited. i'd read the rest of the series so i just wanted to wrap it up. and that happened. not a particularly great fantasy series though.
A satisfying ending to the series. There is closure. Though it may be a bit too convenient and contrived, still there is finality - no hanging there wondering if there is another book to finish the series.
