Marooned

Rate this book
Captain Theo Pallas is a Space Scout for the Earth’s Space Exploration Service. He is Captain and sole crew member of the Exploration star ship Aegina. His star ship develops a fault and he is marooned on an inhabited planet. The inhabitants, who call themselves Enlai, are humanoids whose civilization is early Iron Age. The Captain’s main concern, other than his own survival, is not to interfere with the indigenous civilization. Unfortunately he is discovered by the natives, treated as a god and given presents of food and a beautiful female. He struggles to persuade the natives that he is not a god because his power is effectively godlike. His dilemma is whether to use his powers for good or to isolate himself and do nothing.

Great read!

I read a lot of sifi. I am tired of all the war and fighting ships etc. I enjoyed a first contact story. A new world. The characters were well done. The story line great. I thank the author. Please write a follow up book to continue this story.

Is the advanced space traveler a god?

This is a reasonable unfolding of first contact in a universe with no other intelligent civilizations. The story keeps a reasonable pace and develops a planet that is very plausible.
I did get frustrated with the main character's off handed dismissal of all religious history as destructive. There was so much mischaracterized history of earth and the blatant assumption that science and religion are incompatible. Let me challenge the author to give a better reasoned approach to the role of religious sensibility in development of civilization.

Why?

Why do Science Fiction authors feel compelled to denigrate Christianity. Any intelligent person can see that Jesus teachings are true and reasonable. I came to read a sci fi book. Not to be judged for what I believe. Faith is not blind.

wonderful read.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I love the Genre of planet colonization. I also appreciated the author in writing a clean book, with wild sex scenes and foul language. I recommend this book to my sci friends and family.
