A merciless kidnapper.

A father’s relentless pursuit to Moscow and the darkest corners of Russia.

Tonight Marcus stepped back into the world of dating for the first time since his wife died three years ago. Things are going well. Interesting conversation with an attractive woman, first-rate food and even better wine. Life is good again.

What Marcus doesn't know is that his nanny has just abducted his eleven-year-old daughter--to Russia.

Marcus' live-in nanny is his ex-sister-in-law, a survivor of war crimes in her homeland, Chechnya. Kamila's lingering trauma and desire for revenge drive her to punish Marcus and anyone who gets in her way—even if it means placing her niece’s life in the hands of terrorists.

Marcus and his long-time friend and newfound romantic interest, Stormy, pursue Kamila to Moscow, across the Russian countryside, and eventually into the heart of rebel territory controlled by Kamila's father. Standing between Marcus and Alyssa are corrupt embassy staff, Chechen rebel fighters, and the Russian Army.

Will Marcus and Stormy find Alyssa before Kamila gives in to her darkest thoughts? What drives Kamila's deep-seated hatred of Marcus? If you enjoy suspense-filled psychological thrillers that keep you guessing until the last page, you'll love Chasing Black Widow.

I really enjoy Mr. Ryker's Chief Mattson series so was happy to try out his repackaging of an older book formerly named Dark Sky Falling. This book is about a father searching for his daughter who has been kidnapped by his former sister-in-law and taken to Russia.
The story is exciting and suspenseful and the writing is clean and clear. I loved the dark descriptions of the places visited as the chase progresses. The people they meet, both good and bad are unique without stereotypes. I enjoyed the story a lot. My only criticism is the main characters. I didn't really connect with any of them. Marcus (Dad) is simply focused on finding his daughter, as he should be, but he never really developed beyond a dad searching for his daughter. Stormy, his friend is likewise superficial in her role. Alyssa, his daughter is a stronger character with sass and with and the reactions of a 12 year old. Kamila (sister-in-law) is a totally unsympathetic character. Mentally ill and descending into madness I felt no sympathy. Regardless, the story itself grabbed me and the adventure and suspense pulled me through. I received a free copy of this book. The honest opinions in this review are my own.

This book hit all the right notes for a suspense genre story. The only reason I didn’t give it five stars was because there were places where I felt it dragged on a bit. The story was interesting with lots of action and the characters had some interesting quirks which contributed to the suspense. I found that if I broke the book into shorter reading sessions it worked better for me than long sessions. I would definitely recommend this story to other readers.

I received an arc of this book and voluntarily provided a review.

After the death of his wife Marcus finally decides to move forward with his life and start dating. Being a single father isn't easy sometimes.
Kamila, Marcus's sister-in-law, is his live in nanny. She's beginning to act strange therefore Marcus has to make a decision concerning the safety of his daughter.
Arriving home late one night he discovers Kamila has taken Alyssa and fled back to Russia.
Marcus and Stormy start their journey to Russia to find his daughter and Kamila. Obstacles are thrown in their path putting them in the hand of several different militant groups and endangering their lives.
Action packed drama and suspense that will keep you gripped to the pages til the very end!

Chasing Black Widow is a exciting thriller by A L Ryker. This is a fast paced thriller that I could hardly put the book down! The story opens with Marcus going out on his first date in three years after his wife, Anna, died. While Marcus is having an enjoyable dinner with Stormy, the nanny, Kamila, his wife’s sister, has kidnapped Alyssa. When Kamila takes Alyssa to Russia and then to Chechnya, we have an international thriller. Marcus and Stormy are crisscrossing Russia trying to find his daughter. Be prepared to read late into the night because I couldn’t put down the book. I am about to begin

R L Ryker’s Series on Chief Mattson and I can’t wait to begin reading the series. If you have never read one of

R L Ryker’s books, please read this thriller and I bet you’ll be hooked! I received an arc for free and am leaving my review voluntarily.

R.L. Ryker weaves a story that involves the reader in the world of intrigue, danger and hazard of life in Chechnya. Chasing Black Widow is the incredible story about the kidnapping and rescuing of Allyssa Shelton.
Allyssa’s father, Marcus Sheldon, and his friend, Stormy, pursue his sister-in-law Kamila to Russia and Chechnya seeking his daughters safe return.
The characters are well developed. They are flawed with redeeming qualities. The frustrations, fears and ugliness seen in the oppressed war torn countries is emotionally realistic.
This is another exciting and fantastic story by R.L. Ryker.

Fastpaced

This book was an easy read .I'm a history buff and always find myself getting pissed off at the absurdity of war. The characters here are very believable even if some of the situations they find themselves in are a bit farfetched, but I did enjoy the book and will read others by RL Ryker

The Chase

If you can stand all the drama and anxiety, it's a good story. It shows how the mental illness of one person can ruin many lives. Kindness wins in the end and is a not so pleasant read that is a page turned that you must read till the end.
