I started reading this book because I wanted to know more about the Catholic faith. This book has made me say, "Wow! Who would have thought?! It completely makes sense." Other times, its made me more curious about what I've read, so have to do further research. And yet it has also made me say "What does that mean? I don't really understand and need to go ask questions of somebody more knowledgeable." This is a fascinating read and well-worth reading if you are like me and want to know more about the Catholic faith and what's behind it. Things like: "Do Catholics worship Mary?"; "Why is Christmas on Dec 25th?"; "What is the rosary? Why and how do you pray it?"; "What about divorce and remarrying?"; "Why are there more books in the Catholic Bible than in any other Christian Bible?"; "What do the different colors mean that the priests wear during mass?" and so on and so forth. Definitely worth checking out!
This was not a book to read straight through. It was just a book of answers. It was not bad. Had good info but I liked the Catholicism for Dummies book better. (They are both by the same author, by the way.)
This book gets to the heart of Catholicism succinctly without ever being preachy or dry. Brighenti even infuses light humor while discussing doctrine. Handy resource.
