The structure is difficult to follow for an uninformed mind. The way the narratives were written seems to be catered for readers who are already informed to what actually happened between the years 1950-1985. It feels more like a fragmented anthology of news rather than a linear documentary. If you're looking for a book to gain an easy understanding of events that lead to Marcos' Martial Law, then don't start here.

On the other hand, the book has great writing--dramatic, vivid, and informative.
