Feathermore by Lucy Swing

Lucy Swing is a fantastic author; I reviewed a short story in an anthology for her so when she asked me to read her full length novel Feathermore I was thrilled and couldn’t wait to start it. Lucy’s writing is excellent her character description and plot are good and written extremely well. She gives you enough detail without overdoing it and it was one of those stories you couldn’t put down. Lucy Swing is now one of my favorite authors, her debut novel is exceptional and one of the best paranormal stories I have read in awhile.

So we are introduced to Jade, a senior in high school, she has a small group of friends and appears to be a pretty happy person. But Jade does carry around a secret and hasn’t told a soul not even Claire or Nate who are her best friends. She hears a voice in her head and it always feels like the voice is trying to warn her. Unsure of exactly what to do she dismisses the voice and tells no one fearing that her family and friends would think she is crazy.

One day in class a new boy arrives his name is Avan and he is drop dead gorgeous and Jade cannot keep her eyes off him. Feeling a strong connection towards Avan and finding out he feels the connection too, she decides to ignore her friends warnings to take things slow for now. Life seems to be going well and Jade is happy until a tragedy strikes and nothing in her life will ever be the same. Secrets are revealed and Jade knows she will never have a normal life again.

Feathermore is a fantastic read and I enjoyed the uniqueness of this book. I would recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys paranormal romances and I for one plan to tell all my friends to read it. Lucy Swing has given us the beginning of a new series and I cannot wait for book two in the Feathermore series.

Thank you Lucy Swing for giving me your novel to read and review and I cannot wait to read book two.

Paranormal Romance is always a fun genre to read, but what made my read of FEATHERMORE so special is entering it knowing it’s paranormal, but having no clue what kind. The blurb hints that Jade would discover something cool, something otherworldly, but I didn’t know if it would be her, or the mysterious boy she meets. For the first time in a long time, I was unsure if it would be a paranormal tale involving vampires, fae, wolves, shape shifters, or angels. Okay, I admit I had my suspicions based on the title, but red herrings are rampant in all things entertainment. So since I enjoyed going into this read completely blind, I’ll allow you to enter it the same way. Let’s just say that Ms. Swing developed a rich world that in an ocean of paranormal books still managed to surprise me with several unique twists, and an intriguing plot that was exciting to get lost in, and in the end, left me completely breathless.

FEATHERMORE centers on Jade, an everyday girl entering her senior year. She has two best friends, Nate and Claire, and is wonderfully, beautifully average. Then, the creepy enters. She starts hearing a freaktastic whisper in a strange, unintelligible language. She has dreams of a dark-haired gorgeous stranger, and visions of impending danger. And when she goes to her first day back at school, so meets new kid Avan, yummy and delicious.

Avan enters as a mystery and kinda remained that way to me. He did some things that made me uncomfortable and question his loyalty, and he did things that were unbelievably swoon-worthy. But all the characters were a bit of a mystery, and I think maybe that is what makes them rock. They aren’t one-dimensional easy reads. They surprised me. All of them—Avan and Jade, Nate and Claire, and Lilith, and most especially, Blake.

The pacing was fantastic…the beginning built things perfectly, kept me engaged, and then half way through when tragedy struck, everything seemed to go on fast forward. And the freaking ending???? CRAZY!!!!!

FEATHERMORE kept me guessing. Lucy Swing had me laughing, smiling, and at times, unbelievably sad. And the end will have you jumping in your chair, pounding on your e-reader for more.

7/28/12- So far I love it!! I will keep you posted but I have a feeling this is going to be a great book. :)

7/29/12- Okay guys, just finished and usually I write my review the next day letting the story marinate in my mind... but I don't see that being possible with this one. One word, WOW! It was such a beautifully written story and an amazing beginning to the series. I am truly hooked, and eagerly waiting to see what happens next. BUT I know you want the specifics and a review so bear with me, I'm still so pumped from the book my mind is all over the place!

First I want everyone to know ahead of time, I'm team Blake... I think he sounds dreamy and completely smooch worthy! With that being stated I can tell you that the love story in this isn't your typical YA love triangle, it's subtle and for lack of a better word, beautiful. Feather more isn't just a love story though... this book is action packed and full of adventure and charismatic characters you can't help but fall in love with. Lucy does such a terrific job making this book feel real, her words flow so smoothly you are actually watching the plot and story unfold in your mind. In addition to love this book has moments (wont tell you what they are) that move you, I found my self almost cry twice... that's how well this was written.
As you can see this story has it all, love, trials and tribulation, action and adventure. This book will be difficult for you to put down so prepare yourself! The ending leaves you craving.. no, needing more. I recommend this for anyone and everyone!
I give this book a full five stars and a huge thank you to Lucy for bringing such a beautiful tale to the YA Paranormal world. I can't wait to see what else you have for us.

Book Check List:

AMAZING Storyline- Check
Cunning and addictive characters- Check

PS- I totally dig this cover!

I downloaded a free copy of Feathermore by Lucy Swing off Amazon the other day. I flew through this book in a few hours. Jade is a high school senior who loves her parents and her two best friends, Claire and Nate. Although she shares everything with her friends and family, she has been keeping a secret from them. She has been hearing a voice that seems to be warning her of something. On the first day of school, she meets an attractive new student, Avan. She is immediately drawn towards Avan and finds that he puts her mind at ease. Jade suddenly finds her life changing completely and she is facing something she never thought was imaginable. She must reevaluate her life and how Avan fits in to this picture.

Good
- This was an interesting storyline that I didn't really see coming.
- I really liked Claire's character. I was glad to be able to see a story that can explain her behavior at the end of the book.

Bad
- I still felt like Jade's character could have been fleshed out a little more.
- I felt the connection between Jade and Avan didn't give me enough information. I would have liked to see a little more about their relationship to explain why they care about each other so deeply.
- The long monologue at the end that told the story of why Jade was being targeted. Although it was informative, I honestly got a little bored.

Overall, this book was a solid 3 stars for me. I liked the storyline enough and will be reading the second book when it comes out. I didn't completely fall in love with the book but I did not regret reading it.

My Review:
As ironic as it might sound, it is often rare to find a YA Paranormal romance with a lot of mystery to it nowadays. It often happens that the paranormal elements in the story take a back seat to the romance in a lot of the current Young Adult novels that are out right now. But, guess what, my fellow readers? That does not happen here. And it was refreshing. Lucy Swing manages to create quite a heart-wrenching story in Feathermore that is packed with suspense, intrigue, and mystery from start to finish. This book is just shrouded in mystery and there is more to every single character than meets the eye, not just the protagonist, which was really interesting.

Which leads me to the characterization of this novel. I just loved it. Jade, our female lead in this novel, has a great voice. She is a regular high school student - well, so she thinks - who likes to hang out with her friends and family. She may not be the most popular person in her town or school but she has quite a lovely personality because she is nice but not a pushover and she is incredibly funny and sarcastic. And as the story develops her reactions to things were refreshing. She has quite the sense of humor and instead of accepting the changes that are happening to her immediately, she freaks out and is resistant. Her feelings about things just felt authentic because how can a person take it lightly that their real background is supernatural and that they are not really human as they thought, right? That is enough to make any person even lose their mind. I also liked that Claire and Nate who are Jade's best friends, are also an integral part of the story, with their own hidden history and character struggles. It was great that the family and friends of Jade were really important to her life, it gave the story a realistic touch and it helped add dimensionality to Jade's life story.

Another aspect of Feathermore that I really liked was the world-building. It was intricate and complex and dark. Definitely dark and mysterious. And what I liked about it is that the author didn't quite reveal from the start what the true identities of the characters were and what was going on. The reader gets to learn along with Jade what she truly is, what is after her, who her friends really were and it was interesting. The title does give a hint but the lore behind it was surprising from what I've read in other angel centered books. It was unique. Speaking of complex angel lore, I loved that the villain in this book was not your typical stoic/machiavellic power thirsty villain with a little too much time on his hands. No. In Feathermore we have a lady villain and boy is she ruthless and vengeful and her identity was quite surprising. She is a prominent figure in angel lore/myth and I liked the twist the author gave to her story.

When it comes to the romance in Feathermore. I would have to say that it was sweet. As you're reading, it feels as if this book is gonna have your typical case of instantaneous love at first sight. And all you can think is, "well, okay, the guy is cute and nice and has charm but why does the protagonist like him so much if they've just met" BUT as the story develops, the reader soon learns that that is not the case. There is actually quite an immense reason for Jade's attraction to Avan which is the male lead in this story. And that reason was quite layered and unique. There also was another character in this book named Blake that I felt had an interesting connection to Jade, though, for those who hate love triangles, no worries. It never quite reaches that status in this book. The main love story is Jade and Avan. Although, maybe in book two there is potential for a love triangle with Blake in the mix? It's hard to tell since Blake's true identity was left as a mystery even until the end of the book, which, in my opinion, was quite cruel because his scenes in this book were the most fascinating. Who is Blake? - I was dying to know but I'm hoping book two will clear that up.

My advice: Read this book. It had an amazing cliffhanger. Did I say amazing? I shall repeat myself. It was good. The writing in this novel is very fluid. Lucy Swing definitely has a way with words. It was easy to get lost in her writing. Feathermore was dark but fun - due to Jade's amazing sense of humor as a character and it really felt like a paranormal book. It was full of mystery. It almost felt like an episode of the show Supernatural where everything starts off happy and blissful and then it all descends into madness, basically. I really liked this book.

Favorite quote in this book: "Once again, the vampire idea came to me. But it couldn't be. We definitely didn't drink blood, and we were perfectly fine in the bright sunshine - we didn't sparkle or go up in flames" - pg. 140 &141

My Rating: 4/5

I encourage anyone who is planning on reading this to avoid the synopsis. It's misleading and gives hints to the plot. I don't think I'm giving anything way, though, to say that this book is about angels. I've had bad luck in the past with angel books, so I dug into this one with a sense of trepidation. Lucy Swing, however, did a good job at winning me over.
I definitely enjoyed the writing style. It pulled me into the story and brought me right through to the end. It's the kind of style that anyone can relate to.
The characters are another story, though. Our main character is Jade, your average teenage girl, complete with angst. While I was able to relate to her, for the most part, I had a tough time with the supporting characters. Her best friends, Claire and Nate, behave strangely. Obviously there's a good reason for all of it, but it was difficult to understand their friendship without having seen it pre-angel weirdness.
And, unfortunately, I could never get behind the romance with Adan. It was most likely the lack of dialogue that hindered my getting to know his character, or perhaps that he sometimes came across as a bit of a jerk. Hardly someone, in my eyes, worth risking life and limb for.
Religion is not my forte, so I'm a little rusty of the lore of angels. I'm not even sure if added knowledge would have helped, since some of this may be simply Swing's own creative imagination. I do wish that the details had been more scattered throughout the story, instead of being tacked on at the end. Little more show, little less tell. Having said that, I wish I had known less about the villain. She would have been far more terrifying without the couple scenes in her POV.
Despite the flaws with the book, Lucy Swing has done something that a lot of writers have trouble with. She writes the fight scenes with the same passion that she writes the HOT romance scenes. You can tell that she loves what she does, and it imbues a part of her into the story.

What can I say! This book had be begging for more! I can’t wait to get the next book this month!

Jade is just an average girl, with her best friends (with werid dreams) and meeting Avan her world completely changes! I loved this book! Definitely would recommend this!

I read this book in a day. The story kept me engaged right from the start, diving right in with the mysteries that I instantly wanted answers to. Even when I got answers in the story, more questions arose, and there was always one more mystery I wanted solved, so I simply couldn't put it down. The protagonist is occasionally frustrating and definitely flawed (as any good one should be), but she's also incredibly realistic, battling within herself to believe the unbelievable and control the demons that live within each of us. The other main characters were just as interesting and really won me over. The descriptions in the book had me easily picturing everything and everyone. The end of the book kept me wanting more and has me eagerly awaiting the next in the series. The mythology the author included/created was fascinating as were the personal histories for the characters. If I have any complaint it's that at times I noticed a few minor inconsistencies and the flow of the story occasionally felt a bit forced, but neither detracted from my enjoyment of the story overall. The book was overall well-written and very suspenseful. To me the best part is that the ending actually surprised me, which happens rather infrequently (especially in PN romance-type books). If you like fallen angel stories, interesting mythology, intriguing mysteries and great characters you'll love this book as much as I did. I'll definitely be recommending it to some friends.

My Thoughts:
This story is original, nicely paced and well-written. The characters are carefully constructed and realistic (even considering the supernatural aspect of the story). Jade is wonderful, although there are moments when she is just a little too teenage girl, you have to give her those moments because of what she is going through. I was thrilled with the premise of the book, angels on earth - fallen, yet pure still, protectors who can change forms, ancient evil, and the ability to call animals to aid. I enjoyed the storyline and was pleased with the way Lilith is portrayed and the way her character plays out her part in the book, she is truly cruel and evil. I am still curious about Blake and his part. Nate and Claire are fantastic characters and I am hoping for more back story in books to come. Avan is great, wouldn't we all love to meet the guy so perfect an angel would fall from heaven to be with. The ending is a shocker and a HUGE cliffhanger! I can't wait for the next book.

The first thing I want to say is that Lucy Swing is a terrific writer friend to have. We met while working on the “Death by Chocolate” anthology – my first taste of Lucy’s haunting writing style.

Amidst the tales of vampires and werewolves, I haven’t read many stories of angels. “Feathermore” was a surprise delight. I adore the way Lucy describes the world around her. And I always appreciate dark humor: “Good one, Jade. The killer librarian will beat you to death with the unabridged dictionary.”

The characters and world that make up “Feathermore” are written in beautiful detail. Jade has had to undergo a tremendous amount of trauma and stress. Good thing she’s come into her powers, though she is still learning to spread her wings.

This is a book that I am sure will appeal to all lovers of the paranormal. It has everything a great book should have, it has adventure, training and action. Good vs Evil. Angels and assorted creatures. It has love, loss and teenage drama and angst. But I must say the angst is not so overwhelming as to grow boring or mundane. Jade is a teenager but she has a surprise coming her way. She needs to make choices and they need to be the correct ones. Jade is in danger and in deep trouble. It is love that gets her into this pickle. Can love save her?
I give this book a 5 * review and guarantee that if you like paranormal romance / adventure then you will adore this.

Quick and entertaining read. Supernatural YA romance that isn't as common as witches, vampires, werewolves, etc. I loved the unique descriptions of who and what she was and I also loved the explanation and set up at the end. I can't really go into details without spoiling. There were deaths that I absolutely did not expect! They worked well with the storyline. I only wish that I could have had more info on Jade and Avan's past to feel more connected with their relationship. The end was a major cliffhanger and I can't wait to start the next one!

I have so many things to say about this book. I was sent Feathermore by the amazing author Lucy Swing for an honest review and I’m so excited to see the development in this trilogy. The story revolves around Jade, a senior in high school who’s life gets turned upside down after the arrival of Avan Blackwell who is insanely good looking but may be more that meets the eye. Avan’s arrival sets in motion a series of events that will change the dynamic of how Jade sees not only the world but herself.

The plot was fast paced, easy to follow and I loved the paranormal aspects. It has been a while since I was able to read a story that focused on this specific type of paranormal and I’m so happy I did. The world Swing created has everything a good story needs, each character has their own unique story that intertwines with each other while at the same time maintains an air of mystery and doesn’t reveal anything until it is needed. While described as a paranormal romance it is not overwhelming and has some pretty exciting twists. The ending is an absolute cliffhanger and leaves you wanting more.

To say I loved the characters would be an understatement, Jade has a great understanding of how her small town works. She knows where she stands in the social hierarchy and is known as the goth girl for her dark colour style. Jade is able to show the reader her flaws and doesn’t hide the fact that she has been pushed down and doesn’t know how to handle the path her life has taken at first. The ability to write a realistic character shows through Jade forgetting herself and then building her self back up though slowly discovering the truth around her.

I absolutely recommend reading this book 📚
You won’t be disappointed!

I really loved this book. It seemed so much shorter than it actually was, as I just seemed to be blowing through the pages (in a good way)! I was asked to review this by the author, but this review is not biased. Each chapter connected and I found myself going back to notice foreshadowing for later events. Often, I find books and shows that rush the ending and everything is all resolved in the last chapter. Feathermore was nothing like that. There was a distinct conclusion, but it all seemed to flow well together. It lead up to the big conclusion *no spoilers* smoothly and left on an AMAZING cliffhanger! I'm dying to read the second book!

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

I was hoping this wouldn't be the same as many of the books i have read in regards to Angels and i wasn't disappointed. This book is pretty much non stop from the start. It has a brilliant story with some amazing, loveable and relatable characters.

The story has heartbreaking moments, good friendships, mythology and some gore. Once you start reading it you won't be able to put it down and I'm so great full I have the next one to move straight on to as I cant wait to see what happens next.

Lucy Swing has knocked it out of the park with the first installment of this series.

I just LOVED Feathermore, a paranormal fantasy romance! Lucy Swing has such a creative imagination, and her writing flowed very well and the characters grabbed at your heart and were very likable and relatable in their characteristics. There are so many captivating surprises, twists and turns, that surprised me, where usually a lot of other stories you can predict parts of the stories. I look forward to reading the rest of the series! I recommend this book to those who love YA/paranormal fantasy stories with new ideas on world building and new ideas!

Feathermore takes a classic swing in the angel/demon genre and gives it a twist. Jade is your everyday 17 year old who unlike in most YA books has 2 loving parents and a stable home life. Until everything is ripped away. It was good to join Jade on her journey to find out who she truly is, with the warnings in her mind creepy and keeping me wanting to know her true name. I’m obsessed with Lilith and true to nature she is completely deranged and a great villain. I’ll definitely be reading on to see how what happens next.

Review by Felicia Wetzig (Find more here.)

I won a copy of Feathermore in early April, and like everything last month it got put on the back burner until the semester ended.

When the one thing you live for is taken from you, do you let it go or do you fall?

Jade is a seemingly typical high school student, except for an intimidating voice in her head that seems to be warning her and a strange recurring dream. Luckily, she has Claire and Nate, her two best friends and a handsome new student, Avan, who all seem to help make things a little better. Soon, however, the peaceful facade is broken when tragedy strikes, and the subject of cryptic warnings becomes clear. Jade must come to terms with who she is, and how it will impact her love for Avan.

The paranormal aspects of this novel were unpredictable and really well played out. I enjoyed her use of lore, and although Ive read a fair share of paranormal novels, and I was quite surprised as Jades secrets began to unfold. Even though the title of the book points to it pretty clearly, even if you figure it out from the beginning there are plenty of surprises. It was also amusing that Jades mind always jumped to vampires

"We definitely didnt drink blood, and we were perfectly fine in the bright sunshinewe didnt sparkle or go up in flames." Lucy Swing. Feathermore (Kindle Location 2082).

I got a good laugh out of that one.

In fact, there are so many questions throughout the novel, its hard to discuss anything that happens without giving away one of the mysteries. It is a well put together novel that keeps readers wondering whats going to happen next, what creatures exist in this world, and how is everything going to be resolved.

The ending was probably the most shocking, horrifying, tragic, and emotional part. I couldnt believe what happened. The main issues of this novel were certainly resolved, but not without bringing up some even bigger issues for the next novel. Im actually (I say actually because I havent been reading much YA lately) on the edge of my seat waiting for the next in the series.

My biggest squabble with the book were some annoying formatting issues. I downloaded the version for Kindle from Smashwords, so I dont know if anyone else experienced these problems. Luckily, these problems decreased greatly after the first chapter.

My verdict If you like Young Adult Paranormal, Feathermore is a great read.

Feathers, Feathers Everywhere

Life isn’t so bad for high school student Jade. She’s got awesome parents and a couple of best friends, Claire and Nate, who would do anything for her. Two things would make her world better: if the whispering voice in her head would shut up, and mean girl at school Amy would stop picking on her. The new school year is looking up with the arrival of cute guy Avan. Amy wants him for herself, but he seems to have eyes only for Jade.

It’s clear early on that Claire’s and Nate’s relationship with Jade goes beyond simple friendship. They’re secretive and seem to be looking out for her on a higher level. Once we learn that Jade was found wandering the woods on Halloween as a five year old, and adopted by the woman who found her, the intrigue really begins. Who is Jade, why does she hear a strange voice in her head, and is Avan more than just a normal human guy?

I really liked Jade. She’s got a cool sense of style; I loved the retro, rock band t-shirts she wore and found myself laughing at her sarcastic, inner babbling. As the book goes on, and Jade finally starts to learn who she is, I enjoyed her character more and more. She’s funny and determined, and I felt a lovely sense of vindication when she sent that bitch Amy flying through the air. It’s always satisfying to see a bully humiliated in front of her friends. Avan, as Jade’s love interest didn’t do it for me. I felt he had very little depth, and wondered what sort of boyfriend would hang out with the bully who constantly torments his girlfriend?

There were a few parts in the book I couldn’t understand. Jade sees a strange creature stalking her and easily lets Claire and Nate talk her into believing it was just a man. She watches a weird being moving through the hallway at school, but gets distracted and seems to forget all about it. Jade also wonders if Claire has lost a family member. How could she be best friends with someone for years and not know if they had parents? Even when we learn what Jade is and how she came to be where she is (trying desperately to avoid spoilers here!), we’re not given a full explanation, which I found a tad annoying. However, when you like a character as much as I did Jade, you can overlook some plot holes.

Obviously Jade is more than human, but you’ll have to read this yourself to find out exactly what she is, and what her best pals are protecting her from. Well-written and engaging, Feathermore is an enjoyable read with a cool leading character.

I honestly didn't know what to expect from this book because the synopsis was so vague. Based on the title, I figured angels were involved. I enjoy paranormal books, so I dove right in. Truth be told I was pleasantly surprised. I became enveloped in Jade's story. I kept wondering where she was going with this, and had a couple of theories of my own. Admittingly enough, I wasn't always right.

Jade is a wholesome girl who hears a voice in her head warning her of impending danger. She thinks she might be crazy and tries to continue about her life and enjoy the company of her two best friends. Shortly after the school year starts, she meets Avan, He's gorgeous and the chemistry between the two of them is undeniable. Jade was slightly off put by Avan because her rival classmate/ arch-nemesis, Amy, is obviously interested in him. Things were starting to look up for the couple, when tragedy strikes and Jade begins to pull away. During Jade's attempt to pull herself together, she distances herself from Avan at times. Then one day she sees him shooting pool with some kids from school and lone and behold, Amy is among the crowd, flirting with Avan. I was beginning to like Avan and that did not sit too well with me. I understand that Jade needed some time and space to cope, and I didn't expect him to sulk at home all alone, but knowing how Jade felt about Amy he should have thought twice about even entertaining her, let alone hanging out with her.

Throughout the book, there were a few times where the story would jump ahead and I would need to catch my bearing. I wasn't lost in the story, but sometimes you read a books that will fill those uneventful moments with ramblings that aren't that relevant to the story. I have to say that I was pleased that wasn't the case. As the events in Feathermore played out, I began tapping my screen (turning the page) faster and faster. During the final moments, I was so engrossed, that when it ended I said aloud, "Well, I didn't see that one coming." lol. I wish I didn't have to wait for the second one and will definitely read it.

Favorite Part: There is a part where Jade wakes up in the all too mysterious Blake's home. She is needing answers at this time. She decides to sit in a leather chair and the seat makes a farting noise. She is immediately embarrassed and mumbles, "It...it was the chair." I could not help but giggle at that very moment.

Another new experience. I have never come across a beginning that had normal and weird flashing at me in the exact same tone. While Jade is just your everyday, there's still some things that are undeniably off. Then there's Avan, the new guy, who just seems to fall in love at first sight with Jade, and vice versa, which is so totally nothing new. Made me heave a sigh, I tell ya. But! My interest was sparked as Claire and Nate acted instantly strange in a reluctant manner towards him, and when him and Jade shook hands, making Jade see this weird flash of light.

I have to admit it was refreshing to read about them not struggling to get together, but they actually manage without much further ado. Not something you come across in YA so much these days. Moreover, Jade struggles rather much to accept the paranormal into her life, not on one end but it always sparking up a bit here and there, leaving her unsettled with her new identity. And Jade's powers... she's using them in awe, sometimes not even thinking about it, thus kind of unaware of the real power she actually holds, and how easy it all comes to her. That was also something not quite common.

But the best of it all was... no, not the romance. Did you want me to say that? Okay, the whole concept of an angel literally falling from Heaven because she fell in love with a mortal is totally romantic and I love it, BUT! it had a great deal of a human feel to it, which was both good and bad. And the kinda, sorta triangle? Hmm... I thought it was good that it was there, but not so intense there, you know? But you know it has to come up again at some point, so I'm curious to see about it in the next installment.

But no, the best part was actually the lore it contained. Although only present at one point, when evil Lilith gives up loads of details and intel, it was fascinating. And tragic! I hope there'll actually be some more sense to it in the coming once, otherwise it would've been kind of a waste to think it through this much, wouldn't it? I also desperatly want to know how the character constallation is going to shift! I have high hopes for Fallenmore to be a good one!

I really won't be able to praise Feathermore enough, it has such an in-depth, engaging storyline, interesting, like-able characters and is beautifully written and really well thought out. I think Lucy Swing is on to a winner with the first in what I believe will be an amazing new series.

Jade, is just a regular teenager, she goes to high school, she is not popular but she has friends, two best friends called Claire and Nate. There is a new guy in school called Avan, he seems to be interested in Jade but when they touch for the first time, lets just say sparks start to fly. Claire doesn't seem pleased and starts acting strange.

Something awful happens to Jade, that changes everything in her life. Things are turned upside down for Jade and she finds out that not only is she not who she thought she was but her best-friends haven't been telling the truth either. Jade has been having very strange dreams about people she knows but things seem all to read. Could they possibly be?

Jade finds herself in terrible danger and needs to be extra careful and not only look after herself but also those who she cares about. Can Jade adjust to her new identity? Can she save herself?

Well the ending was explosive, it left me screaming at the book. I absolutely cannot wait wait to read the next instalment. I really cannot believe Lucy Swing left me hanging like that LOL, it will do my head in.

Feathermore is a truly wonderful read, it hooked me from the off and I devoured it quite quickly. It has a brilliant twist, so different from everything else in the genre at the minute. Add feathermore to your wishlist today, I highly recommend it.

My favourite characters:

Jade: She is such a like-able character, she is strong, courageous and is also a great friend. I really cannot wait to see where her path leads.

Lilith: We don't get to read much about her, but the end section of the book has left me off so intrigued by her and I even felt a little sorry for her. I am eager to know how her twisted mind works.

5/5 Stars

Review: This is the 2nd book I read by Lucy Swing and I can’t help but feel pleased about it. She has done such a great job creating this world of angels, demons, gourd and fallen angels. Her knack for writing a great introduction never fails to surprise me, I was hooked right then.

Jade is a sixteen year old teenager who has a lot of good going for her, an awesome family & two great friends. Everything goes well until she starts school again and comes to face to face with Amy, her one time friend who has now turned into her worse nightmare. It all starts to change when Jade meets Avan and hot young guy who she can’t deny to feel a strong attraction for. After a few months Jade an Avan friendship grows stronger and turns into a loving relationship but not without consequences.

I enjoyed the story very much; the characters were divine and unique. The story flowed easily and it was quite entertaining. The conflicts, the drama and the action is a burst of fresh air to the urban fantasy/paranormal genre. The story is well thought and developed. The characters are cute and intelligent. The author did a great job bringing out the characters emotions and feelings.

I couldn’t help but feel sorry for Jade, her innocence and spirit made her even more likeable. Her friends Claire and Nate were an awesome addition to the story and made the story even more dramatic. Their friendship and nonsense attitude gave the story the necessary kick to make this an awesome story. Avan is so adorable, his feelings for Jade made the story believable. His support and kindness makes him perfect for Jade.

I am looking forward to reading book #2 of the Feathermore series, I was left looking for more and I am glad I don’t have to wait anymore. Read my interview with Lucy Swing on a blog tour for Fallenmore, book #2 of the Feathermore Series.

Jade is your average teenager except for the fact that she hears this persistent voice in her head that keep warning her of impending danger. She has no idea where the voice is coming from and what exactly it's warning means. All she knows is that either she's going crazy or she is in trouble. When tragedy strikes, Jade must find pick herself up and prepare to find out the truth of what she really is. Once she does, her life is going to be anything but normal.

I enjoyed reading this book. I had no idea what to expect based off of the synopsis of the book. I knew it would be some form of paranormal since she hears voices but no idea what exactly that meant. Vampires? Angels? Ghosts? Fae? So it was both fun and scary to go into this book totally blind.

I didn't really like Jade's boyfriend at all. He comes in as the new kid in school and seems to take an interest in Jade but then she runs into him at a local diner hanging out with her arch nemesis, Lisa. Then they start dating, everything is going great and then the douche, erm I mean and then when tragedy strikes poor Jade, she finds him out with HER and her friends, AGAIN! Instead of consoling Jade and trying to be there for her, he's out there goofing around with the one person who has shown how much of a bully she is to Jade. For me, that was the last straw, I wrote him off in my mind. What kind of boyfriend does that and then ends up being forgiven? Oh no sister, that doesn't fly with me. He would have been booted at that point.

Like I said, since you really didn't have any inkling as to what the book was really about, I found it to be a fun read. A few parts surprised me that I wasn't expecting and I must say that the ending has me grasping for the second book... there is a second book isn't there?! Surely the author doesn't plan to leave us hanging like that!

That sure ended unexpectedly!

I actually liked Jade. Even when she was being obnoxious after . As for Avan, I'm not entirely sure how to feel about him. He was a great guy, but honestly, it didn't feel like I really got to know him even when Jade was spending time with him, so I didn't get at all worked up over what happened to him. Speaking of which, the blurb for the second book is a huge spoiler for this one. Claire and Nate were okay friends, but I felt like they could have been better friends. Why did they keep insisting on keeping Jade in the dark? Even once it became obvious that they were well past that? I hated the way they laughed at her questions once they did finally start to spill the beans. How the hell was she supposed to know any of that? I wanted to choke them out a few times because of that. And what is the deal exactly with 'just Blake'? The way Jade reacted to him, you'd think he was her soulmate or something, but isn't that who Avan was? He said Jade was his destiny and I have a feeling that that was him who showed up right at the end. Hope there is clarification on that in the next book.

Back to Claire and Nate, I know they felt (partially) like what they did for Avan was the right thing, but that wasn't their true motivation for what they did and I can't say that I like them anymore. I actually like that Swing had the guts to . I'd seen that happen in books involving angels before, but not usually to the main character.

I actually got really drawn in by this book and really enjoyed it. The info dump at the end was a bit much, but this ended up being a 3 1/2 star read for me.

Feathermore was a really exciting story, so exciting I read it in one day. I came upon Feathermore through goodreads and the minute I finished reading the blurb I checked Amazon to see if I can buy it, but sadly I didn't find it. So I contacted the author and asked her when her book is being released. That's when she told me she's doing a blog tour for her book and asked if I were interested in participating. I jumped on the opportunity. And I'm so glad I did. Feathermore is jam packed with suspense and action.

This story was captivating to the point that I couldn't put it down. When you first read about Jade (main character) you think she's your typical teenager. But one bad event set of a chain of eye opening events. Whatever life Jade was used to was just snatched from right under her feet. It was time for Jade to face her destiny, but her destiny was so far more fetched than she expected, and embracing it was something that didn't come easy for her. She was faced with having to make the right decision or lose whatever she had left.

So here's where I tell you what I liked and what I didn't like. I really enjoyed the story leading up to the revelation. I liked that Jade wasn't to accepting of her fate; she questioned it. And that's more realistic then just accepting it without any doubt. Now here's what I didn't like. When I finished reading Feathermore I was left with some unanswered questions, but I did ask Swing and found out that Feathermore is actually part one of a trilogy. So now I cannot wait for book two.

I really enjoyed this book and I give it a 4 out of 5 stars! It's a Good Choice for Reading.

started 2hrs ago and @46% and its going well. I really want to know what is going on! I have been a little confused by some jumping around between POV and dreams?? Can't give it away but there is a bit of a flow problem for me in the "something tragic happens to Jade" section.

Finished! Well, that was not what I expected..the ending! Oh em geee..sad, mad, confused, that's me right now!

Job well done Lucy for writing a compelling angel story. It was enjoyable and I need to read book two now because you left us hanging in Feathermore.

There were some problems I had with the story
-Jade and Avan's relationship confused me. It seemed very hot then cold with out any dialogue. The important scene when she asked him the question in the car made no sense to me. If he loved her so much would he have just left the scene after she ran off? I couldn't get behind their relationship because he seemed to do weird things that proved he didn't love her as much as you would have thought and Jade acted immature in dealing with him as well.
- the drawn out explanation of everything at the end was a lot to take in at once. I would have preferred answers to be layed out throughout time instead of all at once.
-Nate and Claire keeping secrets. Again I had a hard time with them keeping so much from Jade

However, with all the above I still read and read and read dying to know the ending and enjoying it!

This is just my opinion! Go get the book and read it for yourself to see what you think and then let me know :)

Feathermore by Lucy Swing is about Jade a high school student, who has an average life with her best friends, Claire and Nate. She begins hearing strange voices but keeps it a secret. After the arrival of a new gorgeous boy in her school and a sudden tragedy occurs, Jade discovers that there is a lot more to her secret than she ever knew.

Feathermore was a great read! I was hooked from the start and couldn't put my kindle down. The characters were very interesting and likeable. The main character Jade, was realistic in coming to terms with her "secret". The writing and story was refreshing. Feathermore was exciting, interesting and had me giggling a few times! There is a cliffhanger at the end, and I have to point out that cliffhangers can be my biggest book pet peeve. I HATE when books leave you hanging and don't really have a conclusion or not finished. In my opinion, I think authors may do that to make sure you buy their next book. A truly well written book will leave me wanting to read more from the author, not finishing a book makes turns me away and forget about the story. However, the ending to Feathermore didn't upset me, I felt that Lucy wrote the ending as it should be. It was a complete book for me and I can't wait to see what else is in store for Jade.

I recommend Feathermore to young adults and older.

I rate Feathermore 5 out of 5 stars.

Thanks to Lucy Swing, I was given a e-book copy in exchange for an honest review.
