Emily Parr is a young girl having not long moved to a city. Her life is uninteresting, at least until she's struck by a car and is killed. She wakes up, believes the day which she'd lived through to have been a dream, though once she discovers that she's living through the same day for a second time and that making small changes will affect the outcome, Emily realises just what her situation really is: a death-loop.
I'm a young (21) British author. I usually write quite quickly, and I have some big plans for future releases. I'm always looking to improve my craft, so I'd appreciate you leaving any reviews or ratings on any of my books following you reading them. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
I just want to start off by saying that I think this might be my favorite book by this author! I really enjoyed the premise, and I think it was executed very well. Everything the main character, Emily, did had me on the edge of my seat. I read this in one sitting, and very quickly too.
The first chapter is a great look into the average life of Emily Parr as she works at her job for the day. I relate to her nervousness about walking to work, because I did the same thing for years and was always worried about getting hit. Thankfully, unlike Emily, I never did!
It was a good artistic idea to have so many scenes repeat throughout the story, effectively giving the reader déjà vu. The deaths are terrifying, the worst one being the fire death. It was appropriately gruesome and well-detailed. I could feel Emily’s fear as it was happening.
I thought the man who is creepy to Emily during her shift would come back again after his main chapter. Enough attention was drawn to him that I thought he would be more important than he ended up being. It would have been nice to see him come back during another loop.
Emily tries a lot of different ways to break herself out of her “death-loop.” She goes through it much more level-headed than I would have been! She thinks out each action and tries to figure out the best way to survive the day. While she fails each time, it’s refreshing to see an intelligent character.
The ending absolutely threw me for a loop. It was not what I was expecting, but I can see the hints left throughout the story that led to the end. But I want to know more about Emily!
Like I said previously, this is a great book that I highly recommend. I would give this book 6 out of 5 stars if I could. Do yourself a favor and pick it up!
So this book is super crazy. Like if I knew every day I would wake up and die I'd kill myself. Well if i could. This book reminds me of some of Stephen king. It's like a twisted thought to deal with that. But the author keeps you on your toes. I would definitely recommend. I thought I wasn't going to like it. But I loved it.
