Spongebob and Patrick help Squidward win his race by trying to help him lose in this engaging level 2 reader. The story contains relatively long sentences for this level with varied sentence structure and punctuation which might pose a challenge to beginning readers. However, the book is long enough to present an interesting plot, yet short enough to provide a sense of achievement to new readers. Illustrations look like they are straight out of the original cartoons. With the popularity of Spongebob, this book will surely be an attractive choice for children learning to select materials on their own and is recommended for beginning readers age 5-9.

A book my 5 yr old loved, a little old for my preschoolers. A solid reading level 2 book, this reader has a good about of advanced vocabulary words, but not so long that it discourages a new reader. A great addition to any children's library.

This book stays true to all the characters. Bit of a funny story, but no moral or lesson learned. Just entertaining

My sons enjoyed this book. I have my qualms about tv spinoffs, but I really believe in them following their interests.
